Review Thrive Sauce And Bowls - Portland

Delicious! When you can't eat gluten it kinda feels like menus are tricky to navigate, and even if they have a gluten free selection, you never know if there's contamination....but not here. Everything on the menu is gluten free and delicious. Today was my first time in and I loved it. I had the Se Asian Fried Chicken with asparagus and curry. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside and was tender on the inside. My friend ordered the Cobb Salad that was equally delicious. We also tried the homemade sodas which were great and not too sweet. And I ordered a Thai Coconut yellow curry rice bowl to go for my husband who consumed half of it like he'd never eaten before and said it was amazing and he was able to save half for another meal! The portions are great, the flavors are spot on, and the service was good. Thank you for making great gluten free delicious food, I will be back!

The journey to a 5 star rating from me is not based on one experience. The first experience, about two months prior, was not good. The food was either flavorless or just plain inedible. We picked at our food and no one asked why. At time to pay, I dished out almost $50 for a meal that was carried away without comment on why the plates were full. We left, got in the car, and sat there for a moment stunned at how bad the food was. We drove away still talking about it and I decided to turn around and go back. On return, I asked to speak with the manager (I don’t even have THAT haircut), and spoke with her outside as to be private. I told her all of our concerns. She was very concerned and apologetic. Surprisingly she refunded the entire meal, except for the tip, which I insisted remain since the server still worked. She took it a step further and gave us a 50% off gift certificate and invited us to please come back and give them another chance. After two months, we did. And it was fantastic. The ingredients were fresh, the sauces were full of flavor, the drinks refreshing. It was a complete 180 from the first experience. I had the Kale-Tahini salad with tempeh, which had the perfect amount of sauce that tasted like a real Caesar dressing. The fried olives where a delightful and surprising addition that added a lot of dimension, and the kale was crisp and crunchy. The Farmhouse salad was packed with a rainbow of fresh and delicious veggies and a tasty lemon dressing. I’ll definitely be back. The manager handled our first experience with grace and perfect customer service, corrected the situation, invited us back with a promise of a better experience and half off, and delivered. This is how you run an establishment.

A great addition to the NE Fremont restaurant scene! Thrive is a great combination of healthy fare with tasty, filling portions. The price point is also solid given what you're getting. I love the pork shoulder and we've also hired Thrive to cater an event - which is their specialty. They are beyond professional and I try to get in there at least once a month to see what specials they have. If you go for lunch, make sure to get there at 11:45 a.m. Otherwise you could be waiting a while since it's a very popular noon crowd for the business people on Fremont.

Met some gluten-free friends at Thrive for dinner. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Really good food! I had the Kashmir bowl. The flavor was complex -- savory, sweet, salty, earthy, and slightly spicy -- and very good. It included both kale and mango chutney. Who would have thought?? The thoughtful waiter let me brew black tea at the table so that it wouldn't be bitter. We'll definitely go back.

Thrive was already, easily, one of our favorite food trucks. We really like the variety of flavors available. I love the Mexican bowl with hanger steak, while my wife's favorite is the Argentinian with pork belly. Erika and team had one of the food trucks at our wedding. Our guests raved about the great food and service! We were so glad to have them be part of our big day.

Heard about Thrive through family and decided to eat there one night...all I can say is, we will DEFINITELY be going back. The bowls were amazing, and flavorful. You can't go wrong with adding a protein (chicken, hanger steak, crispy pork belly). Staff was friendly, and the prices were fair for the amount of food we got. Thanks!

The food was amazing, the staff were extremely nice, great conversations. I would definitely go here on a weekly basis if I lived in portland. The Combination of flavors the vegetables were fresh crisp. The best was the lemon dressing/sauce. Thank you for having a restaurant that is so delicious, gluten free . Please keep up the great work and will spread the word.

We had Thrive Sauce and Bowls cater our wedding. They brought their food truck and provided not only wonderful food and service, but also all utinsels, signage, drinks, and bartenders for our event. Their food is local and the flavor is fantastic. They provided 5 different bowl options and 5 different protein options, which gave our guests a lot of choice of what to eat. People told me multiple times that day how good their food was and they had never been to a wedding with catering like what Thrive did for us. It was great working with Erika, and while it sometimes took a couple of days for her to respond to email/ calls (because she is the owner and chef), when we did talk, she was thorough and helped reassure me about all the details and made sure the catering part of our wedding ran smoothly. Thank you Thrive for providing fresh and excellent for for our wedding!

Had amazing fish and chips, while my girlfriend had the farmhouse salad. Got the cucumber cooler and west coast Manhattan, both were perfectly made and hit the spot. Highly recommend this place, especially if you are looking for gluten free options.

We had the Thrive crew come out to cater my sisters rehearsal dinner. I could not be more impressed! Ericka, Sterling, Remi and Chuck, THANK YOU! Not only was the food and presentation fantastic, your crew was fun and fit in as part of the party! I recommend you all for any event! I look forward to seeing my drink on the menu! “Kira’s lemon drop!” ;-)

Tasty and healthy bowl options, Thrive has a number of gluten-free items on the menu as well. The flavors are good, the portions are fair, and the add-ons are tasty too. Overall, a solid, informal dining experience.

I ate at Thrive for the first time about a week ago and was extremely pleased with both the food and the service. It was after lunch but I hadn't eaten yet that day. Everything on both the regular menu and on the specials menu sounded so good so I decided it would be better to leave with leftovers than to not try at lease two things. I got the butternut squash gnocchi with swiss chard and pumpkin seeds in a light, creamy sauce. The gnocchi had a buttery crisp outer crust and an interior that melted in my mouth. The sauce had just the right amount of blue cheese to create a nice tang without overwhelming the earthy flavor of the butternut gnocchi. I also got the yellow curry bowl with grass fed hanger steak. It was beautiful! I stirred the soft egg into the sauce along with the steak, carrots, grilled delicata squash, scallions, mung bean sprouts and rice noodles to create the perfect medley of flavor and textures. I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing (I would call the serving generous). Erika was very attentive and friendly, asking twice if I wanted more coffee (from Extracto, THE BEST coffee in town) and how I liked each dish. She also was able to take the time to visit with me for a few minutes as many of the other customers had eaten. I saw several people come and go to pick up a phoned-in order and was pleased to see that their food was hot and ready for them when they walked in the door. Whoever is in the kitchen definitely knows how to expedite. This place is a welcome treasure to our and other nearby neighborhood, most of which are filled with pub-faire and pizza. I will be going there regularly. Christine Hoerner, Roseway

First time here and I'm in love. I had the chicken pot pie with cheddar biscuits and it was delightful. My BF's noodle bowl was also quite good but I only had interest in mine.

I Love this place for several reasons: *Anytime I'm craving a big bowl of meat and veggies with delicious sauce, this is the place I go to. Time and time again, I can always trust that Thrive has what my body wants. *I love the Gluten-free, Vegan, Vegetarian, and Paleo options; I can bring any of my friends here and they'd find something amazing to eat! *The staff is always very kind and accommodating. Sweet, smiling, and courteous, even when slammed with business. *The food takes a little time to get to your table once the order is place, but that's something one should expect with food of this caliber and quality. They are obviously taking the time to really do it right *The prices may be slightly high to some of us with short pockets, but they are more than fair for the huge portions of local ingredients you receive. The price of feeling great for the rest of the day, and knowing your money is going straight into a small local restaurant, and also the small local farms that supply them, is #WorthIt!!! Thank you, Thrive Sauce & Bowls, for helping all of us to Thrive as well!!

My steak was amazing, it went great with my Mac and Cheese!. The staff was super friendly and helpful. If you are visiting Portland I highly recommend this place if you wanna get a taste of the city and the hospitality of people, and if you are a local and have not tried it yet, you are missing out!

This review is for the restaurant not the food truck. I'm in love with the food. And I really appreciate it being right here in my own neighborhood. Everything I've had has been delicious -- Mexican bowl, Northwest salad, fried polenta, celery soup, flatbread. All so fresh, clean, delicious -- so Portland! But the atmosphere is what I'm not sold on quite yet: (1) If the place is full, there is very little room to move back and forth from front to back -- which you have to do to get your own silverware, water, napkins and do it again when you're all done to take your dishes to the far back corner. Not a good setup. (2) The "bus your own table" thing is a little weird being that you have to reach the far back corner with all of your dishes, kneel down to floor level, and then put in the dishes. It took me 4 trips to get the table cleaned up....again a bad setup. (3) I'm afraid that this place isn't quite sure if it's a food truck or a restaurant. I'd hate for it to get lost in the amazing long list of great places to eat in Portland. Again, great food, nice folks working there, but the back and forth in a very crowded place isn't my game. I promise to keep on going and update if things get a little more smoothed out.

The staff here is amazing! The atmosphere is cozy and you feel less like a customer doing business and more like a neighbor stopping by for a meal and a visit.
