Found this bakery after buying their bread at a huge Asian market. Loved seeing the same lady at both places, she was restocking and gave us her freshest bread. Been searching for a Cuban bread substitute since moving to Portland and their baguettes are wonderful, very light inside with a crunchy crust. We indulged in their sandwiches- highly recommend the bbq #2, pastries and of course baguettes. Love this bakery!
Absolutely one of my favorite places in Portland! I grew up coming here with my dad, whom has also been coming here since they opened. I’ve moved to Coos Bay 3+ years ago and only get it when I’m in town now (not often but it’s my most important stop and usually the first). The bahn mi sandwich, pate chaud and bahn bao are seriously best I’ve EVER had in my life, I crave them regularly. Their pastries are amazing but the savory and bread is what’s had my heart since a baby! I’m a chef and I travel for food; I can honestly tell you this one of, if not thee best hidden gems Portland has to offer! I’ve tried going recently though and noticed they are no longer open due to staffing issues :’( … I pray they can figure this out and can re-open ASAP! It’s incredibly sad to see all these restaurants close in Portland, but honestly I’m heartbroken about this one💔 If you are the owner please reach out to me so I can see if there’s anything I can do to help, recruit, etc. I would also love some of your recipes if they are ever available (pate chaud, bahn bao and bbq pork bahn mi).. 🙏 I don’t want to live in a world without my favorite food 😢
I’m so sad that they’ve closed… I check in every couple months to see if maybe they’ve reopened.
I sure hope they can pull through and open up again, we miss you guys and all the tasty treats you have to offer!
Best Bahn Mi in Portland and they’ve been here since the 90’s.. this place is a real OG Portland staple
This bakery has been around since I was a child. I have some of the best memories of getting Pho, going to the Asian market, then swinging by the bakery before heading back home. Now the restaurant is in the main building, the old spot is a dive bar, but this bakery remains unchanged.
It’s a small bakery that specializes in French pastries and a small assortment of Asian desserts. There is a review about the coffee being terrible here, and to be honest, they’re probably correct— this is not a cafe, so they did it to their self.
The assortment of pastries is not always consistent in items offered. Some days will have beautiful swan puff pastries and other days will have chocolate croissants. All are delicious though.
The pastries that keep me and my family coming back are the eclairs and pate chaud (“pat-tay showed”). The latter is a huge favorite of mine. If you haven’t had one before, it’s a flakey pastry with a seasoned meatball in the center- a savory pastry.
Their pate chaud is always done so well. If someone wanted to try their pate chaud, I would recommend getting to the bakery soon after opening because they sell out fast and don’t make more through out the day. Plus, having a freshly baked pate chaud is unbelievably satisfying.
They have a great pastries!, fresh and full of flavor. Prices are decent for the quality. Personal favorites include banh mi, pate choux, everything croissants.
We live 55 miles away so always make it a special point to stop for yummy treats. Been going here for years. It's my favorite always wonderful and special orders are right on.
I am 15 years old and have been coming here since I was a kid and my mom has been coming here since she was a kid/teenager as well. Absolutely delicious and the customer service is always great. If you're ever near you must pick up a sandwich !
Authentic French-Vietnamese bakery with the best bánh mì and bánh bao in town. If you like patê (duck liver), try the fluffy pátê sô (pátê chaud) and the coconut pastries. They are amazing. Great customer service and an authentic, quaint, but welcoming little bakery that reminds you of a small town in France.
My favorite Vietnamese bakery, they have great Banh Mi (French influenced Bagette Vietnamese Sandwiches if you didn't know) and delicious Beignets also.
These guys have some of the best French pastries at crazy low prices. Really good pain au raisin and french horns. We stop in anytime we are anywhere close.
