Never a bad meal here. The sushi is always on point and the people that work here are on top of things. My girlfriend and i consider this our goto for sushi in town. So many great experiences here. Try the mudslide roll and get the cucumber seaweed salad � for a refreshing side.
The service can be hit or miss, but overall the food is delicious and the prices are on point. I recommend!
Went there for my birthday. The sushi was good. Half price... Real good. Poke bowl fresh. Beef was tasty. Nice decor.

SanSai is my favorite sushi place in town. I have been coming here for years and this is my favoratie place. My sister was visiting me and I brought her to SanSai and we both left full and satisfied. The outdoor patio looked great too.
We ordered Yakisoba steak, sansai special, baked snapper roll, chicken karaage and 3 order of jalapeño rolls which are my current favourites here.
We sat on outside table. Server was very nice and kind. We ordered miso soup, shrimp tempura(6pc),chicken breast Kasu and Sansai bowl with chicken. All dishes are delicious and good portions. Busiest place to Portland Oregon but prices are reasonable. If you paid cash they can charge less then when you have credit card pay. Restroom is inside the restaurant. Facility is clean and neat. I wish I wanna be there again.

I discovered this place with My Best Friend and dropped in for lunch. WHAT AMAZING DISHES!!!! FOOD AND SERVICE WERE FENOMENAL!!!!! We’ve been back when we r off and have payday!!!! Love The Food And the Servers are AWESOME!!
Felt like the food was pretty good. The service was not excellent. It was not awful either. I had to get up and look for my server twice. They were friendly however the food did come out fast. I also had forgot some paperwork and she ran after me and brought it to my car so I feel like that was very nice and it was good service there. Maybe they were just a little bit distracted at the time I will definitely try it again and I don't hold it against the person. They were friendly not rude or anything of the sort. The only thing I would say is they could have paid a little more attention to my table.
The tempura vegetables were very good though I enjoyed my meal.

Solid Japanese/sushi spot that won't break the bank. Have been here many times. Friendly staff. If you want upscale, check out Bamboo Sushi. If you want a normal neighborhood sushi and teriyaki joint, you can grab a meal here.
One of the last times I ate here, there were like three tables with babies and small children! (I have kids...I say this for the sake of all you parents)
I highly recommend Sansai. You will leave happy and full. The appetizers, salad, sushi, sashimi, oysters, and fish dishes are so good and you can pair that up with sake too. I have been going there for years and have tried many of their dishes. Since I don’t live in the area anymore, I stop by this place whenever I am in Portland. The people are super nice too!
Service was friendly and attentive. We placed our order and the food came out quickly. I recommend their calamari bombs and mudslide rolls. They were absolutely delicious!!! This is a wonderful spot for delicious sushi! I can’t wait to go back!

Sushi restaurants downtown may seem overpriced, but here you can enjoy authentic Japanese home cooking with the reasonable price. In particular the Combination plates are available in You can choose your main dish from a variety of combinations. We had the steak plate and salmon plate, and two kinds of sushi nigiri (sea urchin and eel). All were so delicious. The steak was hard to cut with a knife, but it tasted good). The mango saketini was light and full of fruit juice. I would definitely come back again. As in other reviews, the upshot is: order cooked food rather than sushi. The fish just isn’t as fresh or cold as other sushi I’ve had. The cooked meat and fish plates come on a bed of rice with salad. Those are the ones to get. Very reasonable prices
So very delicious I am just waiting to be hungry again!!! I am going to order the steak plate this time. I had the salmon plate this time and it was a huge portion on a bed of sticky rice. The quality and the taste was amazing with a capital A!!!
The sushi here is quite good (especially the salmon nigiri) and the prices are incredible. I stopped in because I wanted something light and ended up leaving stuffed. I paid less than $20 for a sushi roll and two nigiri (tuna and salmon). These come with salad and miso. Even if the sushi wasn't that great the prices would make it worth it but the good sushi on top of it makes this a true gem.
