I've been coming here sporadically for years. Princess cake loaded with coconut 🥥 is a favorite and definitely a draw for me.
The Fremont Street Fest was a reason , yesterday , to return to this longtime coffee location.
Service is always reliable, friendly , and fast.
Atmosphere hasn't changed over the years.
Locally, well frequented.
Restrooms 🚻 available.

Delicious coffee and lovely location to get work and some reading done. I like the blackboard on the restroom that had suggestions on books to read. Nice spot!

My delivery partner and I were early on our route and decided to get some breakfast. To our good fortune, we were close to the coffee shop. Fantastic service when it came to helping a couple first timers decide. The coffee was delicious and well priced. We both got sausage and bacon breakfast sandwiches, their number 3 and agreed that they were hands down the best. Certainly worth every penny!

The service was quick and barista was excellent. Ordered a banana and an iced latte. They added a little chocolate covered espresso bean on top of my cup as an accoutrement, which I thought was cute.

They have some of the best coffee and food items you're going to have in all of Portland. The service still is not quite focused on their jobs more on side conversations, but they aren't rude for the most part except when you ask them for some kind of assistance. Unfortunately the friendliness has diminished amongst the customers which is not necessarily a strike against the business but when most of the customers are glaring at each other or making snide comments about other customers it's hard to be relaxed and just enjoy your order and whoever you're there with. That probably speaks more to the atmosphere of Portland. Don't let it keep you from going to a great business.

You guuuuys this is the old "Coffee People"!!??! Only the BEST coffee shop ever created! Unless you grew up in Portland you might not know that, but I was SO happy when Jim and Patty opened up their Fremont shop many many years later, because nothing gets better in my book, then the Black Tiger Shake(okay maybe except for the Banana Milkshake) like heaven in your mouth soooo delicious!😋Ooh and to go with their stuffed Sausage & Cheese Rolls!?! OMG to DIE for! Oh & that insane Coffee Cake with the crunchy sweet bottom? Yep definitely one of my favorite places in Portland-in fact I'm gonna head over there now... no joke! 😋👍👍

Always good vibes here :) folks are friendly, it’s a great spot to get some work done or meet up with people, and I’m a big fan of the day old pastries they often have for discounted prices.

Love this place. Bike friendly!! They have a place to lock your bike out front with the ability to see it while enjoying your coffee. They also have the Nike bike rental station on the street in front.
Ability to work here for hours on end without being bothered. The place does have a bit of an echo so can become noisy at times, fair warning.
My only hiccup is they don't showcase prices for their pastries. If they were to update that, I'd be more prone to giving 5 stars.

A neighborhood staple. Robust, nutty brew, home style baked goods and breakfast sandwiches. Friendly faces behind the counter. All around good vibes.

Great coffee. Friendly service. Very large - and somewhat overwhelming- menu. The food was prepared quick enough and was very tasty.

Really, really great coffee and lattes there. I was there in mid-afternoon, though, they weren't busy, but 7 tables inside and 1 table outside had crumbs on them; makes you wonder how clean any of the tables really were. There was a spray cleaner and rag next to the bus cart...does that mean we are to clean our own table in addition to bussing it? If so, put a note somewhere so people know. Otherwise you just have a bunch of dirty, unappetizing tables sitting there empty. Again, great coffee and a great latte.
I will be back; just confused about the dirty tables that could have been cleaned by staff standing behind the counter.
So went back today, 2 weeks later to have another latte which was delicious! But again...2 of 3 outside tables and 5 inside tables had visible crumbs on them. Not inviting at all to sit down with your latte. Makes me wonder how clean the other empty tables are even though they didn't all have visible crumbs. On the plus side, you can always clean your own table because the bus cart and spray cleaner are right there.

I discovered Jim & Patty’s last November. It’s now nearly July. For 8 months I’ve been a regular at the Beaverton location, frequenting the establishment on average at least 4 days a week, but often times more than that. The biscuits and gravy were that addictively incredible. Because you can taste the real butter baked into a perfectly textured biscuit, as well as the real, rue-made gravy, I’d literally go out of my way to have them for breakfast or lunch as often as every day of the week.
I’ve been having nothing but the “Hipster Bowl” at that frequency for the past 8 months. It was a perfect biscuit, covered and surrounded by gravy in a bowl, topped with a fried egg and strip of bacon. I would begin by breaking up the biscuit with a fork while eating the bacon off the top, and finish it all with a spoon to scrape up the last drop of gravy.
Imagine my surprise and utter disappointment, when I come in for my usual, and suddenly it’s half the biscuit. I know very well how my fork used to break through the top of the biscuit and then the bottom as I crumbled it into the gravy as a matter of habit with literally dozens and dozens of Hipster Bowls throughout the past several months. The top of the biscuit used to sit just below the egg and you could see it. It was a complete biscuit, of that I am positive having had this dish for 8 months straight, and now they are slicing them in half and passing it off as the same. It’s not nearly the same now, as with half the biscuit it is soupy and totally ruined. The slice of biscuit now sits well below the egg floating on top of the gravy, and when broken up into the gravy there is almost no biscuit to scoop up or taste. The amazing texture is lost in the gravy and egg. To add insult to injury, they’ve also upped the price while providing less.
When I ask about the portion change, they flat out lie and say that it’s never been a whole biscuit. Again I repeat, my fork used to break through the top of the biscuit and then the bottom as I crumbled it into the gravy as a matter of habit with literally dozens and dozens of Hipster Bowls throughout the past several months. It was not a slice of one half before. I know without a shadow of doubt that it was in fact a whole biscuit, I know exactly how it used to fill the bowl and the gravy. Now it is not at all the same portion, but they’ve decided to charge more for less…and on top of that to outright lie about it to someone who’s known this signature dish of theirs with the utmost intimacy.
They’ve lost the business of a loyal regular over this fiasco of suddenly unsatisfactory food and poor business ethics. Repricing something that was an incredible deal to begin with would have been completely acceptable, but they’ve ruined my favorite breakfast and decided they could lie to me about it. I’m done with Jim & Patty’s, and I don’t believe they deserve your patronage either.

Maybe because it was mothers day but I waited 45 minutes for my soy latte. While my husbands regular coffee got cold. He even ordered another cup so he could be sipping while I was. They charged him for a second cup of "House" coffee. What happened to the bottomless cup? Will reconsider goin back at a busy time. During our 2 hour stay! The line was tremendous and people did turn away. Sitting at the large table next to the door we had a good view of people coming and going. Some just to use the bathroom which had no paper towels. The coffee was good and the pig newton was cold.

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in Portland. As of today, Aug. 2017, the staff are really sweet and incredible people (who have been working all summer with no AC). I have planned almost my entire wedding here. My favorites are the blended pb mocha which cones, like all drinks, with a small chocolate espresso bean, the mommie dearest sprinkle sugar cookie, their vegitarian sausage and cheese pig Newton's (tastes like real sausage, I mean it!) And lastly any of their fritters. This place deserves global recognition and my love for the history and the staff just brings it all together.

Great locally owned coffee shop. We love having Jim and Patty’s in Happy Valley. Great coffee. Great food. Great people.

To say that I love this place is an understatement. I drive clear from Ridgefield, WA at least three times a week to not only get my coffee fix but to also be around the best baristas and staff that Portland has to offer. I cannot say enough great things about this place. I love, love, LOVE Jim & Patty's!

I love going here, it has delicious food, amazingly friendly staff and fabulous drinks. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great neighborhood place, because the price is also good.

Well FB asked so: worst latte in 20 years from a gal who breathes espresso with a caffeine IV drip on the go and at corporate pricing??! You only get one shot at providing a great 2 shot cup. Grade F
