LOVE LOVE LOVE! Absolutely delicious and as authentically Colombian as you'll find here in Portland!! We placed a large catering order for our office and EVERYTHING was a hit! The arepas are incredible and the pan de bono was sooooo good - we should've ordered at least 30 more! Look forward to ordering from El Pilon again soon!
Truly authentic Colombian food. The staff was amazing. The food was even more amazing. A diamond in the rough! A must stop foodie experience!!!! Plenty of parking 🅿️ Remember it is downtown Portland. So pay parking 🅿️ It is a food cart . So street pay parking 🅿️ is it worth the time and effort? Yes 👍 Bon appétit !
Delicious and authentic! The fried yucca is crispy but tender inside, the dipping sauce is really good. The cheese empanada was one of the best I have had in yearssss. Everything was outstanding and they were very kind and friendly. I highly recommend this place.
Pictured: chicken patacón, beef and cheese empanadas, and yuca.
SOME OF THE BEST AREPAS I'VE EVER HAD!! It was so yummy and for such a reasonable price of only $9! I highly recommend this food cart to anyone in the area, I will definitely be back here often.
I lived in Colombia for over 5 years and I hadn’t found any food that tasted like the real deal until here! The flavors are legit authentic, and honestly this food tastes better and is less oily than street food in Colombia. Seriously if you want to taste authentic colombian food just eat here!
Delicious food. One of the best food carts in Portland. The Hawaiian empanada is so good. So are the benuelos and peandeyuca. The rest looks so delicious. The fruit drink is delicious. Very friendly and helpful people at this cart! This cart was amazing in 2016 and its still amazing in 2023!
I used El Pilon for catering a party and they were amazing! I called them in a slight panic, making sure everything was okay and they were so patient with me. I was nervous and they put me at ease. Delivery was on time and quick. Everyone loved the empanadas! The next time I am down town, I will for sure be stopping by again!
The empanadas were delicious (hawaiian, veggie, cheese). The el pilon arepa was pretty good but the filling kind of tasted just like chicken salad? I’m not familiar with Columbian food, so this is probably how it should be but we didn’t love it. Only major complaint would be that we waited about 40 min to order and another 20 min for our food to come out. I understand to some extent that it is made with care and fresh, but an hour wait was too long for us.
Absolutely delicious eat and quick service. We ordered the beef and chicken empanadas, chicken arepa, and beef patacon. The chilly vinegar that comes with the meals make them so
Much more tasty. Perfect meal to pick up before heading to the train station to Seattle.
I love the story behind this gem. I recommend eating here if you’re looking for comfort and authentic Colombian food. Not much around here in the PDX area.
