What an awesome lil spot here in Portland. Had been meaning to visit for a while, and stopped in for lunch while I was in the area. The atmosphere inside is fresh and tasteful with beautiful green accents. Service was quick and the food was very tasty. Haven’t had a lot of tortas, but it was easily the best I’ve had in a while. They have their own hot sauce and all in all had a lovely experience. Nice that there’s outdoor seating as well!
This place is an amazing lunch place or weekend brunch spot.
The torta are tasty. They combine rich savory meats with fresh veggies and perfectly pickled onions. The freshness of the veggies and acidity of the pickled onions helps you take bite after bite.
The price point is very affordable for high quality Portland food. $11-14/torta. If you're feeling hungry then get a side of beans or rice to round out the meal for $3-4.
Cocktails are great but cost almost as much as the torta.
Güero gave me one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! Their food was amazing. I got the deseyuno and we shared the guacamole which was also a standout! The presentation of the guac was also amazing. My friends got the refrito and the carnitas and they liked those options a lot.
The service was solid and the times when we had to wait were due to their high volume.
The visuals in the restaurant were also great and it felt like a cool place to be!
I would highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a great torta sandwich or some tasty guac.
This was a great restaurant experience. We had a group of 8 and half of us showed up early and had some cocktails on their patio. Once we were all there we asked if they could seat 8 people and they were able put something together in just a few minutes. The host and waiter were very nice and helpful. The food was amazing. Most of my group got sandwiches or tortas and they had high praise. They regrettably don't have a gluten-free torta option 😞. They did have amazing vegetarian options.
I did get a bowl with carnitas and it was still super good. I will definitely eat here again.
The horchata was watery and not thick enough for my tasting 2/5 (I’m Mexican btw). The esquite was sweet for some reason and traditionally they’re not so 2/5. We got guac with chips and it was good! 5/5. I got a torta I forgot the name but it had potato’s and it was vegetarian super good!! Would go back to eat that again.
Ben was absolutely amazing! One of the best experiences at a restaurant. Complementary birthday shots and kind service. Can’t say enough positive things.
Carnitas Tortas! Tasty, soft pork.
The chips were nicely salted too.
Nice staff, good vibe.
Inside seating offers table service.
If you sit outside, you order at the counter and they bring it out to you.
Came here at 1pm on a Sunday. Waited 5 mins to get to the hostess front and then immediately seated. The service was a bit chaotic with the mains coming out, then the chips and salsa (didn’t love their salsa of the day but just personal preference), then the wrong drinks and then the right ones. But everyone was super nice.
Got the carnitas and refried bean tortas and they were perfect. They held together nicely and were great balance of textures and flavors.
Ok this place is next level. I’ve been in Medellin Colombia for the past three years and I’ve been dying for a good TORTA! My friend told me about this spot and let me tell you this didn’t let me down.
Definitely Not a traditional TORTA but it’s damn delicious. Bread is perfectly toasted on the plancha. Plenty of carnitas slammed in their with some amazing toppings. Their hot sauce is beyond flavorful and their drinks are bomb!
I wish I could give more than 5 stars!
Our server, Sylvie, was so so amazing. I have some food allergies and she was so kind to me and made sure to ask the kitchen for accommodations. My husband ordered a beef torta and margarita, I got the chicken bowl. We also shared chips and salsa.
Service, cleanliness, speed of getting our chips and entrees was beyond perfect. So clean and organized inside, definitely a hidden gem. Can’t wait to come again!
Amazing Mexican food. Unique and high quality. I ordered the mezcal margherita, old fashioned, three dip chip appetizer, and the desayuno torta. Everything tasted great.
love the variety of tortas. i stopped by here a few times when i lived in portland for a few months. authentic & delicious: serving size is more than enough. vegetarian 🌱 options available too! great after a nice hike. ¡muy rica tortas! 🤤
Best Tortas in Portland hands down. Decent drinks selection, amazing food. There’s seating inside and a patio outside, pets welcome. Also vegetarian options.
Amazing food!!most fancier restaurants tend to lose focus of food and focus more on presentation and ambience, however this place has it all, something you can't find very often in restaurants, and full of flavor, will definitely recommend this place
Guerro is not your typical Mexican restaurant so if that’s what you’re looking for go elsewhere. They have taken their own twist to Mexican flavours and it’s damn good. The flavour profile of each dish is very complicated and I was throughly impressed with their dishes. Service is fast and quick.
Lost 1 star because their horchata is mid and not worth $6, and the salsa they provide lacked any flavour, compared to their dishes. PS no free chips and salsa when you sit!
Really tasty, fresh food and great margaritas. I've been here several times and it's pretty consistent. Their house hot sauce is SPICY but very flavorful.
The space is vibrant and fun, but it is a bit tight and echoey, so it's not great for larger groups or to have quieter conversations.
Favorite restaurant from our trip. I especially enjoyed the guacamole, their signature sauce and the mezcal margarita. Great atmosphere and service. Enjoyed the entire experience.
Straight to the point:
• Güero is easy to get to, parking isn’t a hassle.
• Due to popularity, there can be wait times a half hour or so but, staff can accommodate you with drinks while you wait.
• The music is easy listening, good vibes.
• The dine in has a dim lit ambiance making it super cozy and relaxing.
• The food (I ordered the Pollo Pibil) is amazing. Not sure how to poetically describe it but I would come here 1000 times because the food is that good. Sauces are good, bread is oof. All is well mixed. You just have to try it for yourself.
• Prices are decent. Most likely spending 50 for 2.
• The staff/waiter crew is super nice and friendly.
Hope you enjoy your visit as much as I did ☕️
Great atmosphere and caters to kids! The service team was really interactive and sweet with our 9mo.
Food was amazing and apps came out lightning fast.
Only wish there was a changing table in the men's designated room. The great bartender spoke with me about bringing it up to management. Awesome!
