Visiting Portland for a conference and decided to stop by a popular, recommended spot. When I got there, the wait was 45-50 min for my 1 seat and I decided to look across the street and saw MISS DELTA! Thank Goodness!! The service was excellent, the vibe was dope, the game was on and everyone was chill. The mushroom gravy biscuits and gravy was the bomb.

Amazing food! They have amazing bbq but don’t miss out on the sides! The Mac n cheese is rich, cheesy, and made to order. A MUST TRY PLACE!!

I was searching for a great Carolina style pulled pork sandwich, and it is here! It was the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had! It is very flavorful and packs a punch with the string vinegary sauce. I will definitely be back, and will spread the word to my friends.

Recommend by a friend so we thought we'd try it out. Not too bad. Portions were huge. Beer was good. For a non NOLA po' boy it was descent. The shrimp and grits was spicy and good too.

Was visiting from Canada this weekend and stopped by Miss Deltas for brunch. Had the country fried chicken and grits for the first time. The fried chicken is probably some of the best I've ever had and the gravy was delicious. Kind customer service and large portions.

Great menu options. Food was on par. Pecan pie was devine. Hush puppies were to die for. Chicken and waffles ooh lala. BBQ sauce served with meats was really really good. We enjoyed the catfish, Ribs, and Brisket. Shrimp and grits were delicious. The greens were tasty. Restaurant has a "down south" feel in regards to menu options. Everyone was very accommodating.

Fried okra is not easy to find in Portland but Miss Delta has it and it is quite good. It is an appetizer, rather than a side dish, but good nonetheless. Chicken (country) fried steak is a cut above any other you'll find in Portland, too. Red beans and rice can be had with pulled pork on top and it is excellent. Everything I've eaten here has met or exceeded my expectations. If there is one complaint, it is that everything is a bit saltier than I would prefer.

Miss Delta is a Jewel tucked away in a historically Black community in Portland. We enjoyed great conversation and excellent conversation. Guess service was amazing, and the food was delicious. Miss Delta, thanks for taking such good care of my group.

This place is the business, from the warm welcome upon entering, the bartender was so kind and friendly he made us feel right at home. I would highly suggest this restaurant to anyone visiting Mississippi Street for the first time. The food was favorable! Miss Delta's owes me nothing!!

Catfish po boy, greens and Mac n cheese a hit!. I will be back AGAIN!!! next time I'm in the city. The cook was very nice and the bartender made the best drinks like omg I was lit off the long islands.

Only had two things off the menu so far and both were amazing.
Biscuits and gravy
Chicken and waffles
Be warned you get their home made sweet tea you are getting legit south sweet tea, forgot what real sweet tea taste like! Great food, great service, and both times we have gone wait times were minimal.

Perfect brunch and a menu you can't go wrong with! Amazing service, tender BBQ and the coziest of vibes. Biggest portions are served as the sandwich but a plate with extra meat served me more than well. 10/10 all times I've been!

Well the service was great enjoyed the food to a point
now the chick kinda tasted burnt and way too much flour used to cook the chicken!
The mac’n’cheese ya pass wasn’t good at all the cheese on top made it cold!
The mash ya gravy wasn’t hitting right!
The shrimp wasn’t fried like I thought but good!
And the catfish is a pass too!
I wanted to grade this fair it’s a cool pleases it smells good but I think it will be a pass made try it another time but it’s not hitting like the place on MLK that was closed last night again thank you for the service enjoyed my time and thank you for the food y’all did a great job jjst not for me!

This was such a nice surprise of a place! The food was soooo good! All the staff was so attentive and friendly and you could tell they LIKED being there! Plus the place itself was so cool and the art was fantastic! Gave us great things to talk about during our meal. Can't wait to return. This is a new Portland fave!

Absolutely incredible—the staff felt so familiar, like I knew them already. FINALLY a spot with real sweet tea! I was looking for food similar to what I had at Hattie's in Nashville, and while the chicken breading was a different style, everything was stupid good. From the cornbread to the collard greens to the banana pudding (unfortunately, there's really no good way to photograph banana pudding), I was pleased as punch, and I will absolutely be returning. For the portion size, it's also a surprisingly great value. The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and the decor and lighting was cozy and on theme.

I speak as a southerner born and raised that Miss Delta nails southern cooking. Bear in mind that there is quite the variety in southern cooking. That being said Miss Delta is good at southern cooking through and through. The portions are big southern portions and the price while not cheap are reasonable and the quality high. On top of that the atmosphere is warm and beckons you in.

So glad to discover Miss Delta's! I really enjoyed the down-home goodness of the food and wonderful service. We ordered the meat plus three (burnt ends, brisket, and blackened chicken) which came with 2 sides (We chose collared greens along with red beans and rice). My compatriots ordered pulled pork on top of these sides. The collared greens provided a nice contrast.
My favorite dish was the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was perfectly cooked in a delicious Olympia Provisions Andouille cream sauce. There was plenty of food to share with our group of 3. We left happy and would definitely return!

I'm from Georgia and worked in a locally owned soul food spot for all of highschool. soul food was apart of the culture I was raised with.I've got a pretty high bar.
y'all... the food here is so freaking good I almost cried. i just moved from the Midwest and it's so nice to be near real soul food again.
only gripe is the loud music. y'all have tall ceilings and an open kitchen... the last thing we need is more loud noise. the restaurant is adorably decorated and comfy otherwise.

Personnel is very kind. I had a brisket with collard greens and mac & cheese it was awesome with an athletic lite lager. The grandma's pudding is delicious

Aside from parking being an absolute nightmare in the area, the restaurant was wonderful. Very cozy little place. Our server was great, very nice and helpful. I had the chicken fried chicken and waffle. Very tasty, although the breading may have been a tad over cooked it had great flavor and went very well with the waffle, praline butter and syrup. The mimosas were made exactly how they should be, with just a small amount of oj. Definitely recommend!

Ate there again this past Sunday evening. Had the absolutely perfect brisket. Best I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot of brisket from many years in South Texas. It was fork cutting tender, perfect amount of smoke flavor....just don’t know how you could have improved on it!!! Every time I eat there I keep saying I am going to try something different....why stray from a favorite item !!!!

First dining experience in Portland. I had the chicken fried steak, which had great crisp, but was missing some flavor. The Mac and cheese was sooo good as was the martini. Ryan, our waiter, was super friendly and amazing! All the stars are for him.

This is by far one of the best places to get great bbq! Love the food and the prices are awesome! Good place to have a few drinks as well. Thank you Jean for suggesting the lemon drop!

Dined there 2X. I"m from Louisiana, and I wasn't impressed by anything on their menu. Granted, there are various ways of cooking Southern cuisine; however, there are basics that souldn't be messed with. Black-eyed peas and rice shouldn't look like goulash; red beans and rice cooked right are full of flavor; greens don't need to be killed with spice and vinager. Get out the bacon grease and ham hocks to season all three of these dishes. Cornbread was good.

Holy Shit!!!! I had the Chicken Fried Steak with Collard Greens and Mac and Cheese. The absolute best greens I have ever had before. Mac and cheese was bomdigity, the breading was original and tasty on the steak and the gravy was also very tasty. I had a Bloody Mary which was also yummy. Hand down best Southern food I have had and I'm from Atlanta. If you don't try it your missing out. Also...fast service.

Food was really good but wait staff was only OK, seemed unconcerned with regular customer service. They weren't real busy and as I put my name down a table for 2 opened up. Took them almost 10 minutes to wipe it down and seat us. Mean while a group of four was immediately seated at a bigger table that was also open and needing a wipe down.

Wow, just fantastic. Food full of season and flavor. I had the fried chicken which was amazing and my husband had the blackened fish. We will be back! Excellent service.

Nice place, we felt very comfortable. The customer service is very good and food and drinks are the best. Surely we will return again.

I drive down from Seattle a few times a year just to dine here. I’m not necessarily proud of this, just stating the facts. There is simply no better soul food in the PNW.

I ordered a shrimp Po boy and it took forever to get the food! I wanted the shrimp and grits but they were out of something really important so the waiter talked me out of that! I am from the deep South, Gulf Coast and I know good Mississippi? Louisiana food! This definitely was not it! It was very loud with obnoxious banging of the dishes and the patrons! I wish pushing it with a 3 star!

Friendly, efficient service and delicious food! Loved the chicken-fried steak with gravy and the fried okra!

This was our first time eating here let along eat the s kind of food. We are from California and just came upon Miss Delta. One of the BEST choices we've made on our vacation.
Started out with some okra, they were BOMB!! I'm a okra person and these were the best and the sauce was put just a bonus
We got gumbo and jambalaya, I just st don't have the words to describe it but it was EXCELLENT, and not to mention the biggest highest piece of cornbread with corn in it.
Next time in that area we will definitely go back 😃
I wish I can post the pictures I took of the food, presentation was on mark

At first I walked in stood there for a couple minutes.... Nobody spoke me.... So I waited for my date, we were gunna go somewhere else... Then..... Like lightning we got seated and we got the most amazing crawtater chips ive ever had in my whole life, I mean, where in the holy Jesus sandal did these heavenly chips fall from... Then we ordered... The owner was cooking and serving us ... I had trashy Mac and the dude had a seafood po' boy , the portions where extreme and the food... Each bite was like a little spicy penguin dancing on my lips! Shit was good , real good, GO HERE, eat here , and enjoy!!!! I'll def go back!

Amazing food, service and ambiance. Loved the backend chicken, the pulled pork, the wedge salad, brisket, ribs and amazing but I loved the greens...normally I avoid them. We are a LOT! Peach cobbler not so good.

So first I have to say, usually Miss Delta's is great - our latest visit was not our first. However our most recent visit was awful!! It was excessively warm in the restaurant - which perhaps is part of the ambiance. Our issue had to do with the amount of time we waited for food. It was close to an hour for us to get brunch. Our mistake was asking for something that was not on the brunch menu, but is on the dinner menu. We were told an exception could be made, but not that the exception would add 40 mins to our wait time. Then after we had waited 30 minutes we were informed that because of the exception, my order couldn't be done - they had run out of grits. I'll say that again - a restaurant that specializes in southern food ran out of grits at Sunday brunch. Not wanting to delay our order further, I said I would take the Cajun fries. When our order finally came, one plate was served 5 minutes apart from the other. If you have a couple waiting 40 minutes for food, bringing one plate out but not the other is almost rude. It would have been better to say 1) they cannot make the exception or 2) we can make the exception, but it is going to add 30 minutes extra onto your wait time. I don't know if I will go back but only time will tell.

The food was unbelievable!! The service was great! Super cool place!!! You have to go!!
