Delicious food, wonderful service. I see a lot of comments here about this place being pricy so I was pleasantly surprised by our $55 bill (for 2 adults). We both are happily satiated. We ordered the bread, butter, salami plate, pate, lamb leg, mushroom, and chocolate moose, all in small plates. Wish the lamb chunk to be bigger (largely because it’s so delicious) but I’d say the other dishes are all decently sized for their price. Will definitely come back for more.
Upscale European restaurant in Portland. The lighting definitely makes it look cozy, ideal for a date night. The waitress did an excellent job of explaining the menu to me. I love the idea of ordering a smaller portion of each item.
My only qualm is there is nothing unique about the food that justifies the high price. They could definitely make some improvements on the taste front, more along the sides of seasoning or dipping sauce probably. Quality is great but I wouldn’t call this food delicious
Wonderful food, wine, and service. It felt like we were in Europe. My spouse and I shared small plates (mussels, lamb, cabbage, broccoli) from the regular and daily special menu paired with wine. We also enjoyed dessert (almond cake) paired with Port. Highly recommended!
Pretty decent french inspired spot. The sauces or sides are really where the dishes shine. The chicken was perfectly cooked and fall off the bone. Excellent wine list.
Came here on a weekday evening with a few friends on a whim. Wow, what an unexpected treat! The food was delicious and the small plate sharing concept made it a fun culinary adventure. I would definitely recommend the cabbage gratin! Service was nonchalant but kind. They had an extensive wine list too. It ended up being fairly pricey but worth the experience. I would go back for sure.

Love the small plate format so we could try a bunch of stuff.
Super nice staff.
Lovely wine list.
If you love fine European cuisine or want food cooked with love and care, come here. I’ve been here twice with family, and each time, I’m blown away by the level of service, quality of food, and comfort of the ambience. It’s a hidden gem in Portland for people who appreciate fresh, fresh ingredients cooked delicately and with skill. Must visit in my humble opinion.
The highlight here is the food. Everything was delicious, and service was good. The fresh squeezed orange juice was magically delicious.
Prices were a bit high, but not terrible. Avoid the outside metal tables which need power washed and covered with glass.
Wonderful place. Probably my favorite in Portland. We choose the option for the kitchen to pick and course out our food and I’m so glad we did. Can’t recommend it enough. Great wine selection too.
tldr: this is simple, fresh food *perfectly* prepared. It was a special occasion and I’m a big eater, we spent $130 including a mid range bottle of wine. We started with the bread and butter. We had lamb, sausage, hangar steak. Two orders of the potato gratin (worth a visit just for that); 3 other veges/salads. 2 glasses of a 10yo port and a slice of their red velvet cake. It’s my favorite restaurant in Portland. N
Beautiful covered patio has heaters. The quality is spectacular for dinner, drinks, or brunch. My first bite of Tortilla Espanola this morning brought tears to my eyes. Dramatic yes, and genuinely grateful.
I love this spot, and go often. The bread is the best in the city, and the service is beyond great. Also my favorite for desert!
UPDATE: I have been back a few times since I last reviewed this place. The service has been excellent! The food is always divine! I have been here many many times. The trout, bread, leeks, squash, tuna, beets, and Pototoes were divine. Have had brunch, and it was out of this world. The service is efficient and friendly, and servers give good food and wine.
Food was great. The large selection of specials gives great variety. The massive wine list means you can find whatever you are looking for
This is one of top 5 for breakfast. The menu changes often, and every dish is exquisite. The bread alone keeps me coming back.
The dishes are kinda spendy, but of course they are, the food is gourmet! And yet the atmosphere isn't pompous. It's somewhere between casual & upscale.
Went for Sunday brunch and it knocked our socks off. We shared five plates (braised oxtail w egg, bacon, perfectly cooked omelette, pate, veggies) plus bread to soak up the delicious juices, and got a great bottle of red bubbly to go with it. The staff were AWESOME and we'd go back just to chat with them. Don't miss this place.
Amazing wine experience, and bread/butter and olive oils to die for. Great service at the bar and really tasty food. Go without hesitation as it’s awesome.
