Amazing. Food, service, atmosphere, everything was top notch. The food was so flavorful. Every dish had distinct flavors and they all worked so well together. Hands down, the best dinner we have had in a long time. Thank you for making my birthday dinner so memorable.
Fabulous dinner there Sunday evening. I had chicken breast in a sherry sauce on a bead of polenta. It was very tender, moist, and flavorful. My dining companions enjoyed their meals, as well. One exclaimed it was the best pork tenderloin he’s ever had.
Three Doors Down is a cozy Italian restaurant, with EXCELLENT food. The Eggplant Parmesan is the best I've ever had in Portland; absolutely delicious. I go from NW 23rd Avenue, all the way across town, to get that eggplant! I love that the fresh bread is from Ken's Artisan Bakery (the best!), and a reasonable wine list. The staff is alway friendly and accommodating. I was there on Thursday and was very happy that Three Doors Down was a participating restaurant in "Dining Out For Life" event. This is one of my favorite restaurants!
Fantastic place for small celebrations. Food was amazing, dessert, the banana cream pie, heaven! Dennis, our waiter, went out of his way to make my birthday special, and make my 84 year old mother also feel very special. My daughter was with us as well, we had three generations. And all three of us were well taken care of and had a great time!
This is my wife's favorite restaurant, so it's where we go for her birthday. The food is excellent, as is the service. It's a great, little neighborhood place that puts a lot of effort and creativity into what they do. VERY highly recommended!!
what a great place ! The beast server that really knew the menu plus great fast service. The place was busy , got right in and FABULOUS food . we will be recommending plus we will be back. That is how it's done for a top notch restaurant . Can't say enough how good it was !
Friendly staff and amazing food, I highly recommend not skipping the dessert.
This was my first time at 3 Doors Down and Melissa, our waitress, and was friendly and funny. The restaurant is bigger than I expected from the outside and was great for our date night. The food was all really well made and the bean dip spread was amazing!
My Fave!! Very consistant. Very delicious. Very friendly. Its my "cheers". I eat there a LOT!! (And im a chef. That tells you something eh??)

great food wonderful service would recommend it to all my friends
Our favorite spot in our old Portland neighborhood. Great food, great people, great ambiance!
One of those special places that you want to selfishly not tell anyone about but you know needs to be at the top of everyone's list. Love this place.
All the flavors were so well balanced in every dish.
Great service and possibly the best pork loin and Manhattan I've ever had! They didn't rush us out the door. A wonderful relaxed dinner!
3 Doors Down is my absolutely favorite place to:
take out of town friends,
Have a romantic dinner,
Meet my pals for a dinner & drinks
Just hang after a busy week.
The food is always delicious.
The atmosphere welcoming and neighborhood-elegant.
... It's my go-to place.
The staff and owner were very friendly.
Plus, the food was delicious.
The clam chowder was different from most I'd had before, but it was amazing. The chicken special was also very good, with a great sauce as well.
They made a delicious mocktail-almost reading my mind on how to make it.
I'm very glad I stopped by for dinner!
Visited on Valentines day 2022 and have been a few times since. The Lamb Ossobuco was one of the best meals I have had. Delicious food every time. I live Beaverton and many of my friends make the drive across the river specifically for this restaurant.
Our first visit and from start to end a great experience. Friendly welcome, engaging server and an inviting menu. The blood orange cocktail was a delightfully refreshing beverage sweet and sour and perfect. The atmosphere was filled with the chatter of friends and family gathered together to break bread, share a meal and catch up. Every dish was well crafted, purposefully displayed and exactly what a good meal is all about. We will definitely be back!
05/03/17: 4.5 out 5 - Came here with my Wednesday Run Group...STILL AMAZING!
Read on.
04/30/17: 4.5 out of 5 - I believe I have done past reviews with pictures and friends' and wife's input...not sure what happened to it. :/
3 Doors Down Cafe is a great place for simple Italian foods with a great Happy Hour. The food is tasty and seemed to be made just right the many times I've been here. The place has a great selection wines and beers to pair with the menu choices.
The service at 3 Doors Down is on point. Our server, Matt, had always been friendly, attentive and provided great service each time we have eaten the restaurant.
I definitely recommend to anyone looking for casual Italian food, or just good food, to try this place once and decide for themselves. I definitely have been coming back for more. Enjoy!
We love 3 Doors Down. Had the best meal in a long time there last night. Grilled Octopus with black risotto, that was outstanding. Matt at the bar always makes the best drinks and service is amazing.
Thankfully 3 Doors was not another restaurant casualty of the pandemic, but is still going strong. For a restaurant to have a 20+ year run in PDX you have to be consistently good, and develop loyal customers. We've been enjoying the food and service at 3 Doors since they were a small bistro in half the space they currently occupy, and they have been one of our go-to Italian dining spots for many years. While they have grown and changed hands over the years, the service & food are as good as ever.
I've lived in Portland for longer than many Local Guides have been alive, and it seems to me that 3 Doors Down was already a destination restaurant when we moved here. If that's not strictly the case, they have at least been a part of Portland's food culture long enough to truly be called a classic. And 'classic' is the way I'd describe the experience here - I mean that in the best possible sense - subdued lighting and music, efficient, reliable staff and a varied, reliable menu. Pasta with Vodka Sauce has been their signature for as long as I can remember being aware of 3 Doors Down, and it remains my go-to.
On a recent visit, we found that the bar menu had everything we wanted on that particular evening, and we saved a few dollars in the process - but regardless of where you find yourself sitting, you're in for a treat.
It's so easy to get caught up in the new/hot restaurant scene in this city, but don't forget the classics! We've been going to this restaurant for years and they never disappoint - excellent food and service and always a special experience.
We found it to be a refreshing change from some of the more pretentious restaurants we have been to. The owner and staff graciously accommodated one of our guests who is in a wheelchair. The food was excellent and the drinks were fantastic too! We are coming back soon!
Went here for $6 adult slushy week. Very nice establishment. Knowledgeable bartender who was pleasant to talk to. He created the delicious slushy we tried called Limoncello Mule. Very good. We went back here twice
Absolutely delicious!!!The best pasta ever! my new favorite place!!!!You have to try it!!!Staff is awesome to!But that foood!!!Can’t wait to go back! The presentation is on point!
Delicious, Italian inspired food. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. A wonderful date destination!
We had two chef specials: halibut and seafood. Both were delicious. The service was excellent. Try the scallop appetizer.
the best steak in town, wonderfully seasoned and cooked to the guest's preference, wonderful potato side dish, bean dip h'ors d'oeuvre super flavorfull and incredible art on the walls! what a GEM!
Took advantage of Portland Dining Month and hit up this hidden gem. Great price for three courses and they also brought out fresh bread and their homemade white bean dip. They have a good selection of cocktails on draft and wine by the glass. The food was good with some interesting flavor combinations. Eggplant meatballs! They also had a nice light/fluffy cannoli for dessert which is hard to find here!
An immaculately well run, unaffectedly hospitable, jewel of a restaurant; if you love seriously well crafted classic Italian cuisine, with a few novel twists, made with genuine, heartfelt care and passion - then please do frequent this wonderful place - you will find nothing on the menu, mercifully short, that disappoints.
Ingredients are of the first order of quality and every bite of every course elicits a long forgotten feeling of being cared for - you will savor every mouthful in an environ that is welcoming, unpretentious yet elegantly set, while their superb team of authentically attentive staff (no rehearsed BS here) sprinkle their attention on you at just the right time, with minimum intrusion or annoying frequency.
This restaurant genuinely feels like an embedded facet of the neighborhood, and while arriving as late evening chancers, we were welcomed without any sniffy circumspection - we were made to feel immediately welcome.
While the dishes were consistently glorious, again simple, elegant and deliriously delicious, I must give top marks to the quality of the bread - something where most restaurants take a shortcut, and something, I feel, that often detracts from a good meal.
You simply must eat here at least once - we were visiting Portland for just four days and came here twice - gladly - even though there are a myriad of choices within a mile of this place, I'll always make this my first choice when I return.
Do not change a f**king thing, Jeff! 5 stars - without hesitation!
Wonderful food and drinks! Wonderful staff! Wonderful atmosphere! This place is a must if you're in Portland, and want some amazing Italian food.
Amazing food and I might dare say even better staff! This has been our go to special occasion restaurant for the last few years and it never disappoints
