The last 3 times that we have been there we have had A+ friendly waitresses. Their breakfast menu is all encompassing and if someone cannot find what they want therein, they should stay home and eat cereal or toast.
Disappointed not to see my old favorite on the luncheon menu: Patty Melt. They used to have the best ones in the whole state.
Prompt service. Nice hot food served on warmed plates. Appreciated the pre-warmed coffee mugs. Server very pleasant & checked on us shortly after serving our breakfast. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere simply because there’s nothing special about it….its IHOP….but nothing bad about it either. Portion of Hash Browns is somewhat smaller than last time we were here but ample enough. Very good experience!
This IHOP seems to have undergone an upgrade. The interior is spiffier than it was a year ago, and the menu is a bit more streamlined. Got a spinach omelette with a ton of spinach, and the side dish of pancakes was very good (as always). Wife got a meat and eggs combo plate, which was also good. Service was prompt and friendly.
We were there at midday on a weekday, and the crowd was overwhelmingly senior citizens. There were plenty of diners.
Across the street from the Maine Mall. Adequate parking.
Excellent service and food. Service was very fast. Waitress we had was very polite as well. Food was hot when it came out. My son and I enjoyed it all.
Food was great, and our waiter was awesome, but the hostesses are rude, on their phones, no customer service. One server was in the ladies bathroom on their phone watching a show, stood up, flushed and went right back to work without washing her hands. Feel bad for the owner of this restaurant with staff like that!
Chris who has been working here for 17 years was AMAZING. First off, he got our order down so fast without even writing it down. The food came out quick. Being from NYC you are used to fast and efficient service, and I was not disappointed. He even told us places to visit in Maine. He was super friendly and you could tell he loves what he does. 10/10 for this location, def give it a try and ask for Chris!
Great staff, you know what you're getting when you go. It's 4 stars for the price point. The service was great but different with the way they take orders. The place itself could use a cleaning but that's not necessarily on the waitstaff as much as management.

This team stands out as probably the best, hardest working team I've ever seen in a restaurant, let alone IHOP.
Even on. Sunday during the breakfast rush we waited 2 minutes. Food was prompt. The waitress was super friendly and sharp.
I love seeing folks coming together and working hard just for the sake of quality.

We went at 1pm, the restaurant was not busy at all. We were seated rather quickly and served our drinks right away. Service was great and food was good also. The serving sizes were 👍. There is really nothing bad to say.
We had a very large group of people that I was with. Our waitress was AMAZING! She kept our drinks filled and served us quickly. I can't say enough good things about our experience!
This updated review applies only to the Portland Maine IHOP. I was there yesterday, November 5, 2023. You could not ask for a better place to eat. I have always been happy with Portland Maine location. The food and service and wait staff have alway been great unlike Rochester NH. Was totally ignored at the Rochester NH I Hop. They couldn't even acknowledge that I or anyone else was waiting at the desk. I walked back out after waiting 10 to 15 minutes. Won't ever go back there. This isn't the first time this has happened. I have been to Portland and Biddeford Maine IHOP and immediately was greeted and put on a list if it was busy. They are so pleasant as well. Rochester New Hampshire I wonder how they stay open. It is just horrible!
There has only been 1 time that we went here that wasn't up to our expectations in the many many times we'll been there previous..... and in their defense-- they were extremely short- handed. Other than that, they are always FABULOUS!!! Great food, great atmosphere, and great staff!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!
A friend and myself chose to visit this IHOP for breakfast. Upon entry we were promptly greeted and seated. Our waitress was nothing short of outstanding!!! After ordering our food arrived very quickly and hot. My choices were:
1- buttermilk pancakes, five stars with several syrup choices
2- bacon, four stars
3- hash browns, three stars
4- soft-scrambled eggs, three stars.
The price was very fair for the portions. Seating is comfortable, the atmosphere homey and laid back and unrushed. Because the service was so excellent I'd like to assign a five-star rating but simply cannot based on the food. Therefore, a very solid four stars...
Our waitress was very on point and made sure everything was good everytime she walked by and was very upbeat and happy
Not bad if you don't want to wait for a table someplace else. Coffee is good (not watery) and they leave a pot on the table. Food is average to good. Nothing special.
