Review A&w Restaurant - Portage

Yes they do still exist! I love A & W burgers unfortunately they’re not to prevalent in many areas, where we live unfortunately is one of them! Thank goodness recent road trip brought us to this great one, complete with push button order service delivered by car hops, flip a switch when you need to have your tray picked up. Our server was extremely friendly our food was great and as always must get Root Beer made right at the location YUM! If you possibly have room, I must always leave room for my cone as there is just no other like theirs. Cheese curds taste just as yummy as leftovers so they can wait! This is a cash only location FYI.

A certain pick you up place for some cheap food. Order outside can be confusing and hard to hear. Drive through and seating is available. Very classic and retro theme.

Ordered 2 meals. Both chili cheese fries were cold, burgers were fine and it's cash only for now. The kid said maybe in a few months the card reader might work, luckily we had enough cash on hand. They need to put that on the sign, the car next too us was angry about it too

Root beer fine, coney ok, fries only so so, rot beer float fine. Cash only which was inconvienent. Other customers put out with the service etc. Not sure I will return. Wait staff very green...this drive in has issues.

We wanted smoothies, chicken tenders, and slushies. But they didn't have any of them. Also when we paid in cash (because that's all they accept), they were 1 cent short.

Not coming to this A&W anymore. They opened late. They don't accept credit/debit card. Cash only. They're going to lose business.

Awesome food and service. The cheese curds and Papa Burger were great. We enjoyed walking along the levee with a root beer float.

Everything is delicious here!! Great to come visit after a long walk on the levee or whenever you're with family. Customer service is super awesome as well. My only complaint is the chili cheese fries never have enough chili nor cheese on them like the picture describes. Kind of a let down but 5 stars all around!!

It's a good place to eat. But they have to fix the bathroom doors some body locked the ladies door. The workers did not have time to check on it. So they told me to use the men's bathroom was not to happy with that. Cause when I came out a man was waiting and rolled his eyes . Not happy with that situation food was very good

We go here every time we’re near Portage. The best root beer and awesome cheese curds.

Root beer ice cream is awesome food is awesome and of coarse good root beer

We love stopping at A&W love having the option for big groups to sit together! We have enjoyed many family nights and friend get togethers around these tables!!! My fav is the Root Beer soft serve Cone!!! Soooo yummy! Super friendly service!

So happy to be able to go and get real root beer and use the driver in ordering stations. Brings back memories from when I was a kid.

We probably go more then we should but we love taking our son to experience the old style car hop restaurants. Thanks for keeping an American tradition a reality for the next generation.

Good food

I was a car hop at an A&W when in High School 35 yrs ago. I was very pleased with my service... the coney dog and Root Beer deliscious.... The best Root Beer ever... the car hop very pleasant and helpful���

I love A&W.

The pictures tell it all. It's so bright and clean. Fun place to be! There burgers are 100Percent us beef. Not many restaurants can say that. Rooty for president!
