Review Gelsosomo's Pizzeria - Portage

BBQ pizza had a bad taste to it. The sausage one was good. This place needs better management for sure. The waitresses were confused and running into each other. We waited forever before even being asked what to drink. Our waitresses worked hard but with no direction. Also the cobwebs are gross guys come on. Oh and make your own ranch please.

Hot fresh pizza. Service was a little slow. I think they were short on staff that night we were there. The woman did the best she could and apologized. The place was full. It was still fine. Great pizza!❤️

Here I am with some friends on our search for the perfect pizza. We are trying out 4 different types of pizza. Pepperoni, sausage and ham. The works, sausage and cheese and then the deep dish. (I am always wanting an awesome deep dish) Also some appetizers were purchased for taste. A couple basic things , but the thing that was different was the shrimp jammers. (Think jalapeño popper from Arby's but change the big jalapeño for shrimp stuffed with the cheese and jalapeño bits) Brought 3 new peeps with us. We judge 3 categories. Atmosphere: 3.5 out of 5 (cute , but like a lot of different ideas under one roof) Food: 3 out 5 (the sauce was very bitter on the regular pan pizza's but was more flavorful on the deep dish) Overall experience 3 (not worth the hour wait but it was OK. Not something I would drive all the way out here for again.) *there was a shift change so we got forgotten a little and a couple peeps sat with empty drinks, I never got my refill and my niece waited forever for sugar packets for her tea.*

Gelsosomo's is one of the best pizzarias in NW Indiana that I enjoy going to with my family. Their pizzas are great, love the crust, the sauce and ingredients they use. It doesn't take long from the time you place your order to the time you get your food either. The staff is very friendly and a pleasure. They treat you nice and always checking on you to be sure your satisfied. They have other dishes too besides pizza, to be honest.. I love pizza so I have not tried the other dishes . If you have please let me know what you think. I put Gelsosomos at #1 for the region. You try it see what you think

Well, from the outside, this pizza joint sure looks like a classic. Guess what? I’d say it should be listed as one. My girlfriend and I went inside and waited to be seated. It took a moment, but I’m sure that’s because they were busy. After all, it was a Saturday and like I said, pretty much a classic. We were seated at a booth/table in a back corner area. The more privacy, the better I like to say! We were helped almost immediately. I’d say we were helped almost too quick, considering it was hard to choose what to pick on their mouth-watering menu. I ordered a Diet Pepsi and we got Bread Sticks for an Appetizer. The Diet was served in a big cup! That was a big plus for me as I go through pop fast! It was a nice flavor with an appropriate carbonation. The Bread Sticks were amazing! It came with four sticks, a marinara sauce, and almost a zesty-type of cheese sauce. The sticks were good plain and in both of the sauces. They were the perfect start. We ordered a Small Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza and a whole order of Tommy G’s Pasta. You also have the option to get the pasta in a Half Order, but I definitely recommend the whole order, especially since it comes with a Salad. We chose Caesar dressing for it. The pasta also included bread. The Salad was a fresh blend of vegetables and accompanied with the Caesar dressing scattered over everything made for a tasty salad. The food wasn’t necessarily quick and it also wasn’t necessarily a long wait. Who really wants a rushed pizza, though? I sure don’t. The pizza came out very hot. It was so good. I think my favorite part would be the crust. It tasted like they put a cheese flavor on it. I basically ate the whole pizza alone, almost. The pasta, wow, this pasta had such an original flavoring to the sauce! The noodles were cooked just right. The whole dish made a mean combination for pretty much a flawless pasta. Who knew a pizza place could throw such an awesome pasta dish your way? I didn’t. The bread was soft and decent to munch on. The service was efficient and friendly. We were helped by more than one person. They were on top of things for most of the visit. Overall, this pizza place is a must-try if you’re a pizza fan. If you’re not, it’s still a must-try, because there’s more than pizza here! I loved it and I think many others will, too. I plan on ordering again in the future. Date Of Visit: 7/2/22

Skip the wings. Where’d these Fries come from, lol, Pizza was slop tonight. Caesar salad slapped tho 🥬

Service was somewhat slow. We got our appetizers before we got our drinks. Food had a really good flavor! Seems like they use really good and fresh ingredients!

The quality here has really gone down hill. This pizza should NEVER have been served. The pizza is burnt, crust is so hard that you can't even bite into the edges. Even the cheese has a burnt crust on it.

My favorite since childhood. This isn’t your regular run of the mill cookie cutter pizza place. This pizza is different and great! Do you ship ? I live in California now and miss your pizza! �

The food was delicious! Staff was very kind patient and helpful!! Highly recommend everyone to go there!!

The thin crust is amazing! I ask for it well done and the crust is PERFECT! Also I love that they put the pepperoni on top of the cheese so that its nice and crispy instead of soggy.

Good pizza if a bit pricey. Usually just carry out but made the mistake of dining in with my grandson this evening, horrible service. I won't be back.
