Review Chicago Style Pizza - Portage

I have lived in this area my whole life and today was the first day trying this pizza. The pizza looked good and when I took my first bite was pleasantly surprised. The dough was fresh and toppings too and the sauce was perfect. I love how the dough was like bread and cooked perfectly. I have ate many pizzas in my day and even in Chicago but I didn’t realize I had a gem right in my back yard. Highly recommended and I’ll be back… found myself my favorite pizza place. The store could use some renovation and a little dirty but the quality of the pizza keeps this a five star rating

Edit: My bad! If you are looking for the typical "deep dish" they have it as the "stuffed" pizza. Pizza was good but definitely not "Chicago style deep dish" ala places like Gino's East. A deep dish pizza to me has a cornmeal crust with a high flat crust with the toppings piled high with the sauce on top. This is just very tasty, bready, normally made pizza.

A small take out place on the edge of town but absolutely worth the trip. Best pizza I have had in years! Weather was awesome so we ate outside on the patio. 3 tiny tables but just enough for our group.

Great pizzas. We live on the other side of town so it’s quite a ride but there so good. I would recommend getting the one that is throughly cooked. We tried the half baked and just couldn’t get the crust cooked throughly.

Very good pizza. We ordered the stuffed pizza for carryout..... it was awesome! The sauce is great... a little spicy but so delicious. You must try! Suggestion....call ahead as it could take about 45 minutes depending on how busy they are.

Been coming here since I was little kid twenty years ago. Their pizza has never faltered in quality and remains my favorite pizza place anywhere in Michigan. They do Chicago style pizza exceptionally well. The only way you'll get better pizza is going directly to Chicago and even then it will be hard to top this.

We have searched best local pizzas and me and my husband have lived here most of our lives never heard of it! Found it loved the simplicity of it they do pizza and just pizza and man they do it well! The pizza is amazing saucey cheesey and it’s usually a 45 minute wait call ahead! There are three small tables out front so it’s a get it to go place. We decided to sit and eat it there brought our own drinks they sell bottled soda! We sat out front and had a little picnic with our young daughter it was so great square slices just pepperoni large it was amazing! Of course brought my in-laws there and they loved it we set up a picnic area in the lot next to them with kids and adults such a great outdoor experience!

The best pizza, hands down for the Kalamazoo county area. Will miss you guys.

YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! Pay no attention to old building... One bite. You'll keep coming back. The best Chicago style pizza around! The prices are AMAZING. A real steal when it comes to small shop pizza! (Go down the road a bit further North and pay double!) The taste is amazing... I'm honored to support a local business owner who doesn't try and change to keep up with the Jones'... Good Service. Just tried the stuffed pizza w/sausage and mushrooms yesterday. The sauce is spot on. Very good! Filling. Order ahead or you'll wait. A hole-in-the-wall that is easy to pass by if you're not looking carefully. Use your GPS. Well worth trying out. Highly recommended!

Hands down best pizza in town. Pickup or delivery only but well worth the drive and the wait (about 30 minutes a pizza). Since having Chicago Style Pizza I can't stomach the chain pizza places. My husband loves the stuffed crust, I love the deep dish. We compromise and switch off each time. Both are delicious. This place never disappoints. It is a little pricey but well worth it.

This was my very first time ordering a pizza from this establishment. I'm a local and knew it was always there, but I'm also not a big pizza eater. I was pleasantly surprised by the deep dish pizza. I will definitely come back. I ordered the deluxe.

If you are reading reviews for the purpose of deciding, just order pizza from here now. You will not be disappointed. I have had the thin crust I have had the deep dish and I have had the garlic bread. They are all good! And I will order from here again!

Oh, I just love this place best pizza in kalamazoo, in my opinion .

We have lived in the area for nearly 10 years and I have driven past this place countless times but all during the day. I assumed this place was closed down (as they open at 4pm). A friend recommended it tonight, and I'm shocked it took this long to hear about this place. We tried a deluxe deep dish and a thin crust pepperoni, both were great. It's the perfect hole in the wall take out pizza place. Completely inconvenient location for us, but worth the drive.

Fantastic pizza! Got the All Meat deep dish and the crust was excellent. The cheese was high quality and the meat was fresh and delicious. The sauce was good and there was just the right amount. I would recommend this pizza to anyone who appreciates a thick crust pizza.

Prices were more than what they have posted on their Facebook page. If hope their deep dish is better than the things crust which was the toughest crust I have even eaten and the pizza do not have much flavor. I would have had better luck with a frozen pizza. Sorry, but would not recommend this place.

Was actually accidental that we came to this place. We called in a pizza and thought we ordered through Old Chicago pizza. When we realized that we didn't order through them we were a bit nervous to come to this place where we actually ordered from. This was the BEST mistake I've made in a long time!! They brought pizza to a new level! We live in Sturgis area so we will make the drive just to get pizza from here. You guys do a great job!

Awesome pizza and sandwiches! One of our favorite places to eat...It's a 35 minute drive for us, one way, but worth it. Can't believe we didn't try it sooner...

ordered small deep deluxe all piled in the middle, the family size pepperoni deep crust was burned and tough had to throw it out,, the 2 orders of bread sticks hardly had any parm cheese and were tough and ended up throwing them out not good at all , my first visit to them did not go well. bad night or?? highly doubt i will visit again, big waste

I have had it all from Ginos East in Chicago to New York and by far this is the best pizza I have ever eaten. Lived around the area my whole life and have been eating this pizza since I was a kid. Looks like a dive from outside but don't let that scare you away. You would be missing out!

Absolutely the best. I always order the Deep Dish crust as I love its warm, soft buttery, deep yeasty flavor and wonderful crispy edges.
