Carol is a very good waitress. She is on her toes making sure we are OK with the order. She always has the coffee pot going and always fresh

Pleasant and charming little dinner. Can tell why there are tons of regulars. Got a 2 egg with ham toast and grits with coffee. Total was under 14 bucks! Can't beat for a early morning start and a full stomach

Local restaurant with deep roots. Friendly service and great atmosphere.

Chicken tenders are really good! They need to renovate the place.

Pancakes, homemade toast, eggs, burgers, everything is amazing. I have been coming here for a while and I drive an hour one way. Definitely worth it.

Food is so great. And all the ladies that work there are so sweet. My boyfriend and I love going there. So far I have tried the chicken fried steak and on another occasion the fish and shrimp. Both were divine!! Highly recommend.

Always delicious. The ladies that work there were very attentive. Best burger in town. Add bacon and cheese šŸ·

Hamburgers are the best. They are large and remind me of what hamburgers used to be. I actually ate cheeseburgers and the addition of the cheese made the burgers perfect. The onion rings are lightly breaded and obviously home made. Again, a great burger.

Great place to eat. Carol was the best. She was friendly and attentive from the time we walked in to when we left. Food was served timely, freshly cooked, so everything was still hot. All the patrons in there were friendly as well. Our new ā€œgo to placeā€ when in Port Lavaca. This is actually Sadieā€™s mom, Dianna, leaving the review. For some reason itā€™s logged in under her name.

Just got done eating and the food was amazing! I got the chicken fried stake burger with fries. Everything was hot and you can tell everything is homemade the only down side is that they don't have brown gravy. But if your thinking of eating here do it!

Classic dinner with all fresh made food! I had the chicken fried steak with salad and baked potato. It comes with a home made roll. All was very good. Jen got a cheeseburger with the onion rings. It was very good but the onion rings are Divine. No kidding, perfect batter on large rings of golden goodness! Loved them!! I'm trying the fried mushrooms next time. Our wonderful waitress told us they use the same batter so I'm sure they are delicious too! BTW, our wonderful waitress was so attentive to us. She's a delight.

Usual take to go. The food is hot and cooked to order, much better than any of the fast food joints... worth the extra wait or call in, if in a hurry..

The steak is always perfect! The seafood is fresh! The salad is crisp! The potato is loaded! The tea is cold! The coffee is hot! The staff is amazing! I love this place!

We had breakfast here. Food was good. Limited menu but the basics are covered. VERY friendly helpful staff. Home cooked food. Will try lunch/dinner soon.

I liked it. It has a mature set-old timer-local-plain folks kinda vibe. It is clean. There are animal heads mounted on the wall. It has plastic table clothes. Paper napkins wrapped around the silverware. It is has a mature clientel that seems to be neighborly towards one another. They are warmly greeted by familiar friendly mature staffers that seems to always have in their busy hands a full tea picture, a rag, a pen poised over an order pad, or balancing platters heaped with steaming hot diner fare. Homestyle comfort food abound The Wagon Train boast iconic diner daily specials like fried catfish and chicken fried steak with milk gravy served on from-your-childhood white diner platters. The sweet southern ice tea is served over heaps of ice in giant diner red or clear plastic glasses. The salads are iceburg with tomatoes wedges. The rolls are hot. Eating there is alot like that old pair of cowboy boots under your coffee table. The same ones that you pull on before you head out the door to go eat at The Wagon Train. The ones you reach for even though there are newer more stylish shoes. The ones you reach for because they are comfortable, familiar and are good and broke in. The same ones that never pinch or hurt your feet. The same ones that younger folks may laugh at. But you know why you wear them. Because they are part of who you are. That's The Wagon Train. A part of who you are and not just a place to eat.
