Had a relaxing lunch with my sisters on the patio outside. Our waiter was attentive and brought our drinks immediately. The menu had many choices and each of us was pleased with our lunch. I had the fish tacos and they were perfect
Great view of the water and passing Freighters. Would highly recommend 😊
The food was good even if they didn't have a sandwich that was listed and a couple guys wanted it. My salad was good and the company was wonderful. So nice to go to such a great place to be with family we hadn't seen in a while.
Definitely ask for a view of the water! Although, apparently we should have made reservations… who knew?!? They had a retirement party and a wedding happening as well as the restaurant open when we were there. Needless to say, they were busy! Freighters is attached to the Blue Water Convention Center and Double Tree Hotel, but the restaurant overlooks the St. Clair River with amazing views! It’s fun to watch the ships, trucks driving across the bridge and just wave to our Canadian friends from across the river.
Our waiter (Brandon?) sure had his hands full! He was also attending to the wedding party as well as our row of booths along the windows. We started with the artichoke dip as we arrived right before happy hour was ending. The dip was really good and I would totally order it again. We had that gone in record timing. I ordered the Mesa Chopped Salad and let me tell y’all, it definitely had a kick to it! I’m not usually a spicy fan, and this had my mouth on fire a bit… I ate it, but really wish I had been warned a bit. The chicken was really good though!
The service was good, but I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed by the tap list. Nothing exciting or even really special or "new", just the old basics. But I went with the Michigan MI-Tai cocktail and it was fantastic! The fried pickles were very yummy, and came with a maple mustard sauce for dipping. Very interesting combo of sweet and salty. I still liked dipping them in the classic ranch better. I was not impressed with the linguine however. It was way too salty for me.
May 2022 - came here for lunch with the family. I ordered pork sandwich. The bbq sauce i am not sure if it was a house or someone else. It was good and fries were good. My daughter who is 6 loves spaghetti but hated the spaghetti. I would not recommend that for the kids. This was under the kids menu. Wife got fish tacos and she liked them. It has a great view and you can go walk down by the water after eating. Its not bad and worth coming to.
Great restaurant, was very hospitable and felt cozy, was also clean and neat. We were well takin care of even with them being shorthanded in the kitchen. Has a really nice view if you sit towards the back you can see outside better and take it in. Good beer selection on tap not the biggest selection but quality over quantity I suppose. Definitely get the fish tacos they were delicious. The mesa chicken wrap was also great with a blackened seasoning on the chicken that had a lot of flavor and a lil spice.
Spent the weekend in Port Huron for work. Had never been to Freighters and decided to finally go and order some dinner. Glad I did as it was absolutely a great experience. The view, the service, the atmosphere, the delicious food and the will definitely return soon. Hailey, our server, was absolutely the best!!
Great service and great view! I love Mac & Cheese and have tried many types of them. Their loaded Mac & Cheese was unconventional with the multiple white cheese, chicken, asparagus, peas, cherry tomatoes, etc. But it was the best unconventional Mac & Cheese I have ever had. Absolutely Delicious!!!
What a great way to rest between rock hunting and fishing by having a refreshing meal at Freighters. This restaurant is comfortable, allows plenty of space between tables and offers an abundance of cuisine for every palate. Although I only had water, their bar selection had various beers on tap, as well as the normal wine and mixed drink selection. I had the Lumberjack Burger with smoked bacon and onion straws. It was pretty darn good! My wife selected the delicious Freighters house salad which was more than plentiful. Our friend's son ordered the Beer Battered Chicken Strips. It came with 4 gargantuan chunks of chicken piled on a platter of French fries. It took a little time for our food to arrive, about average for this kind of restaurant. But that's part of dining here. Come to enjoy the atmosphere, the scenery and the first-class food. We did and so will you.
Excellent Dinner 🍽
We were surprised by the menu choices and how great everything tasted! Will return for sure.
