La Carreta

I really had a nice time on Wednesday, February 2. Our waiter was so nice. Very sweet. I just wished I had remembered his name. The appetizers were good. We made that as our meal. I now have a new favorite drink... the coconut margarita. I wanted to try something new and was glad I did. This is a great place to go to have drinks and enjoy good food.

I love this place and it very unique with outside seating, inside seating, large bar area with TVs to watch the game. Plus they have large party room separate from the rest. I was told they have live music but it wasn't there when I visited. This place has lots of personality the local are friendly and cool to hangout with. So if you are stuck on I12 and need a place to chill during traffic back up or want to visit a new place I would highly recommend this place. The restaurant manager makes sure my food has no cross contamination but limited on options. I appreciate all they do for me to have a great meal

One of the best LA Carreta's there is. Downtown Ponchatoula next to the tracks. Great food. Always friendly wait staff. Dog friendly patio seating. The place is always clean. Usually a wait on the weekends, but that's OK because bad restaurants never have a wait do they.... one of our favorites in town

Yesterday at lunch, our server took our order. I ordered steak fajitas. She verified I wanted steak and not chicken. Came back to the table a second time and confirmed I wanted steak fajitas. I was delivered chicken fajitas by a delivery server to the table. The order server came back and apologized, then came back again and said they were working on it. Why were they not fixing the situation immediately? It took another 10-15 minutes for my fajitas to be brought to the table, it was apparent that my order was put to the end of the line like it was a new order! My husband finished his meal before my fajitas came. The restaurant was not overly busy that they could not have addressed my order in a more prompt manner. I was not a happy customer!

My wife and I went there for Tacos on Tuesday. Thought the tacos were good. We had beef, chicken and pork. The service was slow. It took about 25 minutes for tacos. Plus my wife ordered a side of guacamole and she had to ask twice after the rest of our food came to get them to serve it. So she just sat and waited. She wanted to add the guacamole to the tacos. We ate in the breezeway. The atmosphere was pleasant, even though they were busy.

They consistently have excellent service, with appropriate temperatures for the foods, clean dishes and silverware, clean bathrooms, and quick seating. The food tastes great, and they are cautious about allergy issues. Will go again. Good prices. Second visit: still cautious about allergy issues but every place has mistakes every now and then - the best way to gauge a restaurant is how they deal with mistakes. The server was surprised the kitchen had missed the allergy mention, immediately offered to have the plate redone and whisked it away upon my agreement. The kitchen staff worked swiftly and the server brought out a new plate of food as soon as it was ready. Very professional, apologetic without being overly so, and checked in several times to verify that the food was good and no further problems. Will definitely go again.
