Wow. All of my life, I have loved Taco Stop. When I was a little girl, I was so jealous because I wanted the meal plate like my parents got. I remember when I first was old enough to drive myself to Taco Stop and get my own meal with my own money instead of just splitting one with my brother. Turns out, my parents were right. I still can't finish one by myself. Clean, yummy, friendly. About all a person can ask for in a restaurant.
Love the food here. As others have said, it is not authentic mexican, but a family version of mexican food. The quesadillas here (spelled casadia) are not the normally expected style, but a round corn tortilla with cheese and hot sauce. Still very tasty. I grew up with this food where it started as Taco Grande on 14th. Always stop in when I return to Ponca City for visits. Combo burritos are my favorite. And ask for the Extra Hot sauce.
Just tried the Taco Stop for the first time today, staff was very friendly, the food( I had the Sancho w/ chili and cheese) was excellent, the portion size was more than adequate and the prices were VERY reasonable..I will definitely be going back and would highly recommend it to others!
Good local place. Business traveler likes a home cooked meal and this tastes like something I have made. Great price. Fast service, can't beat that.
Local Legend. This is one of those places that all the locals know about and, if having moved away, must revisit every time they are in town. If you are in search of authentic mexican fare, then go on down the road. This is the american version like your mom might have made for you at home when you were a kid. Having married a Ponca City girl, I was introduced to Taco Stop when we were dating. Now that we are married, it is always a safe bet when trying to decide on what to have for dinner.
I love the smothered burritos. My wife likes the sanchos which are the same as the burritos only with lettuce. (I cannot stomach hot lettuce.) Nachos are just round, yellow tortilla chip served with yellow, imitation concession stand cheese. I know some people will scoff at the cheese sauce, but sometimes one just appreciates nostalgia. My personal favorite is the taco burgers. (sans the lettuce) I also highly recommend the smothered cheese and onion enchiladas. They also give free drink refills.
Like I said earlier, this is NOT authentic mexican food. But if you want good, cheap, and plenty served in a clean establishment try Taco Stop, if nothing else so you can tell your Ponca-native friends that you did.
Childhood Fav. I love Taco Stop. It is one of my all time childhood favorites. Every time I visit home I want to stop in and eat a delicious Sancho!
Big burritos for little price.
I haven’t been there in years , but me and the wife went tonight , it’s just as good as it always has been , great food & great service !
Love love love taco stop! I've been going here for years for the best and only taco burger in town!
I visit this place every time I return to Ponca City. Food and service is always great. I do miss the self serve taco sauce since it is good enough to drink on it's own.
Great food and wonderful service always very pleasant
Always a delicious meal for our family! They sell their sauce by the BOTTLE now!!!
Great food, friendly service, reasonably priced! What's not to love!
Fresh simple Mexican food. Seems less processed than places like Taco Bell.
