Wonderful experience! Julio provided top-notch service and has incredible patience. We tried the conch chowder (red), cracked and fried conch, chicken curry, stamp and go (Jamaican salt cod patties) and pigeon peas and rice. Everything was perfect and delicious! Such a good menu- we will have to go back to try more things!
I recently had the pleasure of lunching at Calypso and it was truly an exquisite experience from start to finish. The oysters were super fresh, delicious!! The fish had a sauce with mango, amazing!! The service here is impeccable. If you are looking for a combination of excellent cuisine, quality service, and a pleasant atmosphere, you definitely must go to Calypso.
We have come to the very discovery. Focusing only on reviews. There were a lot of them and all excellent. We were very well received. The food was quite simple and delicious.
This hole in wall impressed me with their meals!! Did appetizers, entree and dessert. I will be back for more! Spicy cucumbers had scotch bonnet sauce which was kind of spicy. I used it to dip my conch instead of in clarified butter. For non-pepperheads, it’s as hot as habaneros.
Calypso was a restaurant that was a pleasure to eat at some of the best tasting food I’ve ever had. The way they cooked The Pompano fish was delicious. Their muscles were seductive, and the service was pretty great too. The overall atmosphere was very interesting as it’s in a very large plaza that’s not the nicest but they’ve done a great job on the inside with the decor giving you a real island, vibe and theme. All of the their dishes have a lot of Caribbean influence, that make them very delicious although I can’t tell whether or not it’s authentic maybe that’s a good thing. I wish their crowd was a bit more diverse art things considered but overall, I think this place provided a great experience.
another Ron Smith, Review, Pompano, Beach, Calypso .
I’ve passed by Calypso several times and it’s always busy. So after reading reviews I decided to check this place out and I’m so glad I did. This is a hidden little gem if you’re looking for seafood in Pompano.
I read great things about the conch chowder, which I haven’t tried before, so I started with a cup of that. As another Yelper mentioned it was more like a vegetable soup with a flavorful broth and a few small pieces of conch. BUT I love soup and flavorful broth so this was the perfect starter for me. It reminded me of a place I went to in Cabo where they served a small fish broth soup before the main course came out. It was a nice way to get my palate ready for the next course.
I ordered a lunch portion of the Yellowtail Snapper and, man, I highly recommend the jerk seasoning. The spice and texture of the seasoning cut right through to bring out the freshness of the fish which was cooked perfectly. I orders cole slaw as my side which was a nice, tangy and crunchy compliment to the seasoned fish. Such a simple and delicious meal!
The interior is updated and beach-themed. It’s cute and quaint. The staff were friendly and helpful and I cannot wait to return so I can try other dishes from their selection.
If you’re looking for the freshest fish and seafood you have to try Calypso! I’ve been a customer since my childhood and it’s fantastic! Real Florida atmosphere and some of the best dishes around!! Jodi is the best waitress ever! (Shown in the picture) I had the Tile Fish grilled so yummy and I barely got to take a picture of the conch fritters because they’re so Good!! Minimal breading and full of flavor
We always have a great time, amazing service and the freshest fish/seafood delicious meals, we will always go back!
Great local bite! Friendly servers and cheerful and clean atmosphere. Reasonable prices and my sis and I had a very enjoyable lunch. The bar had a lively crowd and most of the tables were filled but we were seated quickly and efficiently. Our orders arrived without delay and our server was personable, knowledgeable and was super pleasant and helpful. It felt very welcoming overall and I was very impressed by the restaurant’s no weekend hours policy as a courtesy to their staff and their families. It was worth it to make the weekday trip. We tried the cod fritter lunch special with rice and pigeon peas , served along refreshing house made sauce and ripe tomato slice and crisp green leaf lettuce. My sis had the cracked conch, lightly breaded and fried. It was exemplary and our server offered mustard sauce which was also exceptional. Potato salad can be pedestrian, but this one was well seasoned and with a nice onion kick, not too heavily dressed. Definitely will return.
First time here because I was craving fish and it was delicious! We had hog and grouper and everything tasted fresh and good seasoning. The service (Allison) was great (we didn’t wait much for food to come out) she was always on top of her tables and the place was very clean with great ambiance. We will definitely be back!
Had the Chicken Roti which was delicious at well as the Calypso cutter which was super amazing sandwich! The crab bisque was so tasty and fresh. Appetizer was a shrimp bruschetta that was out of this world!!! Have to go back just to try more!!!
