Review Pepper Smash - Plano

Gary B.
Been here a few times cool vibe, I usually come casual attire. After leaving a few spots in Deep Ellum, me and my lady headed to Peppersmash. The crowd is never dressed down in business casual or anything, so I continued my day in a calm fit (A Nirvana T-shirt, Essential Shorts, and Yeezy 700 V2’s)…Tonight I was stopped by the security guard who looked new, I was told they have a dress code tonite and he couldn’t let me in. Then I see people dressed like this the following week on their IG page 🤣🤣🤡🤡

Love the music. Each time I have gone, the DJ has been fire. However, the place is super small. Not enough seating. Bartenders are not friendly, especially the blonde female bartender. I didn’t catch her name. Might be back solely for the music- might not. 🤷‍♀️

Awesome place, great drinks & good. Dj Ant D was on fire.

Felt rushed out by bartender and owner was talkative. Didn’t try any food but music was okay. Best to stay at Legacy hall and have fun. This is definitely a try once spot and give it a shot for yourself but yeah it’s definitely a miss.

Peppersmash is a lively spot to hangout. I like it a lot because you can keep it informal with your dress code and it's not a problem. It's fairly mixed when it comes to the crowd (party goers) and always a good time.

We planned a team happy hour here on a Wednesday after work and we showed up and the music was playing, the TVs were on and the doors were locked. We waited for a bit and didn't see a single person inside. Since there was a group of us, we ended up walking to another place.

PepperSmash has great specialty cocktails! The bartenders are fun & Funny! Also has a DJ. We ordered the liquid Nitrogen & the presentation is outta this world. The drink is frozen with frozen crystals falling onto the bar. Awesome! The Smoked Makers Mark actually is prepared using a smoking technique that embodies the drink with smoke to give it a distinct smoky taste then topped with Dr. Pepper. Overall, I would return!

Excellent spot for Happy Hour or just a quick drink. I’ve never had the same drink twice here. Recommend letting the bartenders do their thing — just tell them what type of liquor or drink you normally prefer. Fun to watch them work, as well.

Came here for late night drinks. I find the cocktail selection amusing. Ordered triple M explosion and sidecar. It was not that packed when I came here on a Friday night. I think it was around 11PM? had so much fun and the music was pretty good that's why I only took 1 snap. LOL
Whisk And Tell
A creative cocktail den serving inventive and interesting drinks in the heart of the Shops at Legacy. Come stop by for a drink, but stay for the equally inventive, tasty upscale bar food. Be prepared for a "theatrical" drink service served by pleasant and helpful servers.<br/><br/>SIGHT: Patio packed for a Saturday evening at 7pm. Sidewalk al fresco tables made it perfect for people watching. Interior was a bit dark, but the bustling peak through kitchen and expansive bar provided eye-candy for those seated in the inside.<br/><br/>TOUCH: Dark wood tables and leather covered seating, made this restaurant and bar clean and comfortable.<br/><br/>SOUND: Buzzy, happy patio crowd makes for a fun and inviting atmosphere.<br/><br/>SMELL: N/A<br/>TASTE:<br/><br/>Coriander Chicken- Sauteed chunks of chicken breast in a spicy, smoky, spicy chili garlic sauce. Flavorful, delicious, and healthy. This puts any chicken in a chicken lettuce wrap to shame.<br/><br/>Shrimp and Grits Spoonbread- Skewered, plump seasoned shrimp over wedges of fried spoonbread. Think of this spoonbread as a more delicious, moist, cornbread donut. AMAZING. The jalapeno creamed corn came out a little lukewarm and a bit mayo-ey, but the spoonbread and shrimp were the obvious star and the highlights of the dish.<br/><br/>Old Faithful Burger- Nicely seasoned thick patty topped with sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato and their signature grilled onions. The bread was well toasted and the entire burger held up with each bite. While the burger was tasty, the fresh cut, crispy fries were ample and delicious. Perfect late night snack food.<br/><br/>Chicken Philly Flatbread- topped with tandoori chicken, truffle gruyere fonduta, and crispy polenta, the ingredients read much more ambitious on the menu than the execution. Great share plate, but lacking in the punchy flavors the menu advertised.<br/><br/>Baby Kale and Naan Salad- We ordered because of the curious brown butter vinaigrette. The first time in ANY restaurant I had ever tried it and it did not disappoint. Strong brown butter flavoring balanced with enough acid and caramelized sweetness that went great with the fresh greens and crunchy naan bread croutons. <br/><br/>Brussel Sprouts- AMAZING. CRAVEABLE. A must order. Fried bundles of brussels glazed in a honey sriracha sauce topped with mint and crushed cashews. Savory, spicy, sweet, fried, and fresh all in one bite. I must recreate these. <br/><br/>Cotton Candy Martini- Vodka based sweet martini topped with a pouf of house made cotton candy. A shaker is provided at service and the customer can pour over the cotton candy themselves for some quick drink entertainment. A bit sweet for my liking but the "show" made up for it.<br/><br/>Fire Smoked Dr. Pepper- SO CREATIVE. Cold, cedar smoke filled mason jar encompassed large cubes of ice and Maker's Mark. A side of original Dr. Pepper accompanied the drink. The customer unscrews the top, with the smoke wafting and mixes his/her own cocktail. The smoke adds a different sensorial element that takes this drink to the next galaxy.<br/><br/>Triple M Explosion- spiked strawberry and pineapple slushie that comes out smoking due to quick liquid nitrogen freeze. A little sweet for my liking but other companions liked.  A definite showstopper on the patio. Perfect drink for a hot summer day.<br/><br/>Spa Day- a Perfect "skinny" cocktail concocted of vodka, cucumber and stevia. Perfect for the Dallasites watching calories. Despite light on calories, this did not disappoint on taste. A must order.

Brunch!. We went for bruch last weekend. Loved the Bloody Marry's wth bacon-infused vodka (they had me at bacon, and then again at vodka). The benedict was wonderful-- flavorful but not overpowering. Everything features some level of spice, but we didn't come across anything that was overly spicy. Try the French Toast Monster!

Absolutely Awful!!. Walked through the door thinking that the menu looked pretty nice, which meant the food would be decent, but man was I wrong! I asked the waiter to check on my food after 25 minutes of waiting and he said that they were waiting on the chicken kabob so we said "ok". Then he comes back to tell me that they were completely out of the beef they were supposed to put on my salad because he said that the family net to us used the last bit on their tacos even though we saw them order the chicken tacos lol. So after 35 minutes of waiting we just decided to walk out. This place is a complete waste of time and $$! Never eating there again...

Don't waste your time or money. Arrived about 7:15 on a Saturday night and was asked if we had reservations. We did not. We were told we could get bar service and it was first come first serve. We found seats promptly but after 15 minutes of absolutely zero service we decided to spend our money elsewhere. Pepper smash employees are unfriendly and need some serious training on customer service...mainly how to spot a hungry, thirsty customer who is waiting to place an order!!

On the fence, but good flatbread. Granted I did go around when it first opened, but it was pretty dead at peak lunch hours. I would go back again though; I think it's picked up but the flat breads were fabulous!

Constrained for Plano. The chef approached the table and my sense of embarrassment was enormous. Never had I filled out a comment card and been almost immediately sequestered for more input. I should explain. <br/>I, the curious yet insufferably awkward Tyranasaur that I am, decided to explore the new Pepper Smash with my beloved Procompsognathus husband in tow. <br/>We began our meal with an Orange blossom sensation and the Smoking Dr Pepper. <br/>My OBS was good, a remaining of an old fashioned but sadly accompanied by a droopy maraschino. The lackluster of mixology accoutrement. It wasn't nearly enough drink for what I paid, but it's Plano, and I'm sure they could have easily asked for, and gotten, more. <br/>The Dr Pepper was good but far too little whiskey to far too much soda. Thought perhaps we reptiles are more in need of powerful drinks. <br/>We ordered the Blistered shishoto peppers to start and we're pleasantly surprised by large peppers with a very enjoyable smoked sea salt on top. Easily beating the other shishoto peppers we had tasted at neighboring Ra. <br/>The White bean and ham bisque was disappointing. Not because of the technique or creativity, but because of the simplicity of the dish. It was simple it wasn't special. Mere purée and crab in a bowl. No spice or flair. <br/>The grilled. Hesse sandwich was good, but mentioned to be less craveable than a grilled cheese from the Fort Worth food truck Lee's Grilled Cheese. A masterpiece of simplicity, a da Vinci of restraint for comfort. <br/>The fries however were lovely, though to be fair, a remarkable French fry is few and far between. <br/>The Lamb sausage and bean stew was a mixed blessing. The presentation was lacking, and to be honest, so was the spice. The sausage was fantastic, the best lamb I have had in some time, but the stew was..uninspired. It was if a can of tomato met a curry, but was cooked with tied hands. It could have been very good. <br/>As the waitress, attentive And astute brought the check I was compelled at her request to fill in a comment card. I voiced my sadness at the meal, not out of criticism but out of hope that this new place would please me and others as the short lived Sutra had. An oasis of flavorable Indian in a very opaque dining selection of the Shops at Legacy. <br/>I wrote a few things and relinquished to finishing my wine, when the chef approached the table. <br/>I was embarrassed at first, but more so overwhelmed at his candor, thoughtfulness and appreciation for those who truly enjoyed food. I was saddened because he was the chef at Sutra, and was being forced, in my humble opinion, to tie his hands. To be restrained into making less flavorable, less exciting dishes. And sad to say it is the palates of Plano that do the binding. Just as Japanese foot binding may have been the rage, it simply detracts from the beauty of what could have been to satiate those of the region. Those of the majority. <br/>I hope that the leadership of Pepper Smash realize that much, for success and for legitimacy. <br/>Rawrrrrrr

The drinks here are good and pretty original. Food portions were tiny and overpriced.
