Review Dickey's Barbecue Pit - Plano

Big Momma Caceres
Was looking forward to enjoying some BBQ for an early dinner. We drove to this location because a previous Plano location visit was disappointing. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy, we ordered/received our food and when it came to the drinks we saw a stack of foam cups. When we asked the young lady at the counter where the yellow cups were, she responded that the restaurant charges $3.00 for the yellow cups and asked if we wanted one? We said no as our meal was already at $11.99 per person for a sandwich and (1) side and a drink (that should have been served in a yellow cup). What made it frustrating was that the customer behind me also asked about the yellow cup and was given the same response about price. After her refusal to take/pay for it, the lady at the counter gave in and said, go ahead and have it, the customer then replied with, "Are you sure?"...I was within arms length of the customer behind me as I was waiting for tea, since the tea container was empty. When the young lady returned with filling my foam cup with tea, it was completely watered down with no flavor at all. When I went to the drink machine to try something else, there were only a few selections of soda flavors and each of those were also watered down. I suppose they weren't putting in the needed syrup to get the right consistency. I get it, places are hurting and people cut corners to save here and there, but when I choose to take my family out to eat and spend my hard earned money, I expect to have a good quality meal and drink. The icecream from the icecream machine was questionable as well. It was a heartbreaking visit to say the least and at $56.25...our meal didn't sit well. You guys need to get it right and do better.

The burnt ends were not, instead fatty brisket that was gray. The ribs very dry. Only ate because work ordered it. Pretty bad when the best part was the cucumber salad. Need a new pit master!

I went around 1pm for a quick lunch, wasn’t expecting to be blown away! Literally the best Dickeys I’ve been to! Food was fresh and the sitting area was clean! Arely was super helpful and made sure I was well taken care of!

Knowing I was purchasing a Family Pack, I stopped at Kroger for a $75 gift card—gas points!! As I pulled out my card, the young lady very politely told me she didn’t think their machine would accept it. Seems it takes the ones from Costco, but not this “old” kind. She did even enter the number. No luck! I was on my way to deliver dinner to a friend who’s husband died a few hours ago and didn’t have time to go to another location. (She said other locations do take the “old” ones.) So I put $59.53 on my debit card and I’m the proud owner of a $75 “old” card. I will not return to this location.

Good brisket, but it was the only good thing. The restaurant was dirty, old and dingy (I went there 20+ years ago and never changed). The food was quite expensive. The lunch special was the same price of the regular dinner price. The owner was dishonest. The register prices were higher than on the board. The owner said that the register changed the higher prices and forgot to update the board. He gave 3 dollars, but kept my receipt! I noticed that the corporate Dickey's Barbecue Pit website no longer shows this location. I wonder why.

Awesome decor and awesome food here. I had some of the best brisket here today. It had that great Smokey flavor. The staff is super friendly too.

This is the second Dickeys ever built - super cool! Old school Buffett line - can serve yourself! This location still has the ice cream too! I asked if they had a pellet or wood smoker - and they did they still use wood! So awesome! Staff was great. Best sausage I’ve ever had. They have a large relish bar and warm sauce!! Highly recommend!

I ordered online and the process was very smooth and timely. The brisket was okay, but the beans were cold and the rice krispy treat tasted horrible. I'm sure most people don't go to a bbq place to get rice krispy treats anyhow, but DON'T...it takes old and stale. :-(

Not liking the new menu or the choices of sides now available. Not only that, you have to buy the meet by the 1/4 lb and all sides on an individual bases. Bread is not good, something seems to have changed. Very disappointed, will no longer be a customer!

This is honestly difficult for me to post. I have been a frequent consumer here and have enjoyed Dickey's at other locations throughout DFW. But, something terrible has happened here. After a couple of months of not visiting here, I found the food has slipped considerably. Beef was way overdone, they've done something to the cole slaw. Even have laid out the utensil and sauce area to make a massive traffic jam where everyone was all tangled up. My associate was also surprised about the quality. Looking around I found few familiar faces in the crew. Would appear a management change or something, but everything has gone down hill considerably. Definitely, not going back as it stands. You know one bad experience at one Dickey's affects my thinking on all of them. Where are you Corporate? You watching what's going on in the stores? Dreadful - I hate losing a favorite place... Moving down the road to Sonny Bryan's in Richardson.
