Review Yoshi Shabu Shabu - Plano

First time experience. With a vegetarian member of the family, this probably wasn't the best choice. The service was fantastic. They really tried their best to add little extra vegetables and tofu. I was very thankful for them trying. It was interesting and different. The food was good. Since I'm not the greatest cook and you have to cook the food yourself, I probably didn't do the best on the udon. Vegetables were good and fresh-ish. They do put them in the fridge ahead of time, so I can see some people complain about that. Got some cooked tofu thing(?) and it was really good. I recommend everyone giving this experience and place a try. With non-meat eaters, it may not be the best choice. Cool place with great service and we'll probably be back again. Thanks.

Absolutely delicious! Every time we travel to Dallas, we always stop by Yoshi's Shabu Shabu! Always excellent service. We’ve been to both the Richardson and Plano locations, highly recommend it if you love hot pot and authentic Japanese cuisine!

Awful experience. Vegetables were cracked dry like they had been sitting in that fridge for days, rice was HARD and DRY, took 20 minutes for us to get fountain drinks, the portions are laughably stingy. The little flavor there is is far from authentic-could have cooked a better dinner at home. Service was poor to say the least (had to flag people down, no one came to check on us). And if you're that understaffed, don't be willing to take peoples money then. Complete waste. We went somewhere to get dinner afterwards.

I have been a long time customer. Service is now aweful the prices have gone through the roof. They are also "forcing" a 18% gratuity for very bad service. Food quality has gone way down. I have eaten at this place for the last time and that makes me sad because this used to be one of my favorite places to take the family.

Food is okay, service is okay, nothing too special. It’s fun to make your soup but the food just really leaves you wanting more.

The food and service were great as always but the new menu pricing they had makes it no longer worth going. What used to be $16 for the 2 meat combo is now a la carte pricing + $8.00 for the rice, vegetables, and +1.50-2.00 for the noodles. The flavorings have also gone up slightly. They have also added 18% gratuity to all orders not just large parties, we usually tipped more than that anyways, but that’s a new one at any restaurant I normally eat at. We have been here multiple times and what used to be $16/person now ends up running about $26/person. Before flavoring the broth. Drink menu also lost some of the better cocktails. The quality of the food hasn’t changed and neither has the portion size. While it is still good food we would have gone elsewhere if we’d realized the price had gone up that much. The menu wasn’t exactly clear that each part was billed separately and I would have skipped the rice and vegetables in favor of more meat, if I’d realized that was $8 on its own.

We love this place, but we probably won't be back anytime soon. Used to be 5 star for us. Food is still delicious, however some items on menu aren't priced correctly, a few items weren't even available, they still falsely advertise happy hour and to top it off for a party of two we were blindsided by a forced 18% gratuity that ended up with tax adding an additional 27% to our bill......this never was in place before and we weren't even notified before we received the receipt. We are going to go to the other Shabu place.

Staff was nice and accommodating, but the food was mid at best. Broth had little to no flavor and portion size was very small. Shrimp tempura was a no. Tip is automatically included on every bill, 18%, regardless of party size. Paid almost $90 for two people just to leave hungry and unsatisfied. 3 stars only for the kind service.
