Review Amorino Gelato - Plano

Zachary Allegretti
Be warned that the line here frequently goes out the door and takes over 30 minutes to get through (even near closing) In Amorino's defense, they run like a well oiled machine. It only took a couple minutes for me to pay and get my order once I made it to the front. The 2 flavor tasting limit seems lame, but it's a necessity to keep the line moving. I had "the signature", a rose shaped cone of three flavors with a macaron on top. It looked great for the photo, but immediately started melting in the Texas heat. There's hardly any seating inside, and the door is always open anyways because of the line.

Horrible experience twice, I gave them a 2nd chance. Now this post needs to be written. I have always wanted to try Amorino, as I am part Italian and love good gelato. Since Amorino is all over the world, I hoped it would taste like gelato in New York. Finally one day I walked in with my boyfriend. I was happy to see we were the only customers there so I went right to the counter, excited to sample flavors. I was never greeted, because a moment later the employee’s friend walked in behind me. They hugged and talked, meanwhile I was completely ignored. What struck me most.. was she started giving samples to her friend, made her a cone, and I was still ignored. Minutes later, I walked out. In shock and disappointment. I never said a word, because she was outright rude and clearly didn’t care. Months later, on my birthday - May 12th, I decided to give it another try. I was craving gelato and hoped it would be a different person at the counter. It was a weekday afternoon, again I was the only customer. I told the person it would be my first time trying Amorino, and said I was excited to see the flower art. I was given no greeting, no smile, and the person rang me up and asked what I wanted. I said I’d like to try the summer flavors.. advertised outside. The person rudely said I need to pay first and again asked what I wanted. I said that I didn’t know, until I sampled. I was confused. They seemed upset to be there and said again I need to pay first. I was so uncomfortable, I almost left. I then stated that it’s my birthday and I was hoping to bring some cheer into my day. At this point, I simply asked for a flower with both flavors advertised outside. I never tried anything and at this point didn’t want to. The person said “oh happy birthday, sorry if I’m in a horrible mood today and the cone art will be messy” then slapped on the gelato. It looked nothing like a flower. If I didn’t already pay, I would’ve walked away. These are the most unfriendly people and instead of bringing cheer, this place brought gloom on my birthday, in all honesty! The flavors were great but I couldn’t enjoy it. I was having a tough day, dealing with a flat tire and several things that is part of life, yet I was kinder than any employee at Amorino.

Amorino you're a rhino! But no, I'm no hypo - beast. But I do like my yeast! For this is quite the feast. Look at this beast! This beast that is my stomach - because I'm so full from this delicious ice cream! Michelle Bach approves this message! But please don't let her give you a massage!

Had to see what the long lines were all about. Lolz. 30mins later we had pretty cool flower designed gelato cones that were very flavorful. I had strawberry with Vanilla which the latter being the best 😋

Tried the creme Brule and the macarons. This will be my new spot for my sweet tooth. I'm going back and definitely trying more. It's a cute little shop that can definitely get busy quick! The macarons are the best. There's Gelato in the middle of them. I had the Caramel and the blueberry and both tasted amazing. Going back and trying more. The creme Brule cheesecake was good.

Delicious Dulce de Leche & Caramel gelato cone topped with a salted caramel macaron from Amorino Gelato at Legacy West. For all my coffee lovers don't forget to get the Affogato with your choice of gelato! Instagram: @bfindsfood

Great gelato flavor. It's hard to find a really good gelato without too much sugar in America but here it's possible!! Also the waffles remind me when I went to Brussels. Again no extra sugar.

Read a lot of reviews today and we were concerned, but decided to come anyways because of the name and worldwide reputation. It was an average experience, nothing spectacular. Signs are hanging saying only 2 samples per customer, due to foot traffic which is understandable. The place is busy, and clearly understaffed. The menu isn't very descriptive, as far as how the process works. Also the signs that are meant to direct people into line are confusing and feel misplaced. It was very busy, and you felt sorry for the staff who noticably couldn't keep up. Why only have 2 people working the line when they are building gelato flowers a majority of the time? The gelato was incredible. It's worth a second visit just based on flavor and texture. The lime and basil pairs well, the coconut is a dream, and cream with black cherries was our favorite. We both got a cone/flower, next time I'm getting a cup. The flower is unique, but melts fast and leaves less time to savor. I wish they were more organized, and had the staff to make this better than it is. I can easily see a 30% increase in sales if they were the Chick Fil-A of gelato... Sadly they are closer to the Taco Cabana..... Final product is great, but the flow to get to it is not. Step it up management.... This high profile shopping center deserves better.
