Yet another FOODIE’S DELIGHTFUL DINER RECOMMENDATION.👏👏👏. The American Diner tradition 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 is alive and very well indeed!
This is truly is a pleasing throwback to the 70’s, setup and decor. It’s apparently a Pittsburgh classic.
The menu (breakfast and luncheon) is short and sweet, sign of mastery of traditional American diner brunch.
Any of the omelettes are outstanding, though I’m partial to the Irish Omelet—not sure what makes it Irish but corned beef and Swiss cheese neatly wrapped in scrambled crepe of eggs is scrumptious😎😎😎.
The Slammer Sandwich looks to be their signature. A half-pounder of Isaly’s Chipped Ham (good for either breakfast or luncheon) topped with onions and feta cheese is most enjoyable! 🤩🤩🤩
The coffee is freshly brewed and strong!
Service is excellent.
Isaly restaurant serves foods such as pancakes, omelettes, and sandwiches. Prices are about several dollars per entree. My husband and I ate breakfast here. We seated ourselves at a table, and our waitress soon arrived to give us menus and to take our orders. She promptly brought our beverages and foods. I ate eggs, chipped ham, home fries, wheat toast, and a cinnamon roll. My husband ate a bacon-cheese omelette, hash browns, Italian bread, and orange juice. We thought that the food was simple but tasty. We paid for our meal at the counter.
The service was attentive, and the food was adequate. Other than a couple of chipped ham items there wasn't much to set it apart from your typical greasy spoon.
Awesome food and great service! I also love the nostalgia behind Isaly's!!
I highly recommend the Irish Omelette! The food at Isaly's is fantastic. Great music too: classic rock from the 70s and 80s was playing on my last visit.
They're probably not the best choice for large groups because of the small booths/tables and lack of parking, but a great spot to meet a friend for a meal.
What a great place! Breakfast foods, lunch classics. Nice menu options. Great service.
This historic diner filled with pictures of pittsburghs past and an authentic old diner vibe still slings some of the best most reasonably priced sandwiches in the city.
Going there for 20 years for breakfast.
Ownership changed over the years, but convenient, good breakfast.
Good service and food. They do not have anything gluten free though.
Isaly's has been around as a company since 1833 as a cheese company. Eventually turned into a dairy company and now a deli that serves their famous chip chopped ham. This is one of the last three remaining Isaly's left. It's kept the classic interior. Food is very good and reasonably priced. They make their own cinnamon rolls and they are killer. Make sure you get some chip chopped ham to go.
