Review Black Lab Bistro - Phoenixville

I went here for my birthday and had a wonderful relaxing quiet meal. We started with the pork wonton (sorry no photo. We ate them 😁). I had the pan seared scallops and my husband had the filet mignon. We both enjoyed our food. We finished with a pumpkin cheesecake and carrot cake with coffee.

Food was excellent! We had a nice quiet corner table. Server was prompt and gave excellent recommendations for food. The duck Spring Rolls are AMAZING. The Brussels were perfectly done- and the bacon was crisp and the right amount of salt. Best fish tacos I've had in a long time. Dessert was over the top great!

Black Lab is one of our favorite restaurants to dine at. The food is fantastic, service wonderful and overall atmosphere enjoyable. We have been here quite a few times now and it is consistent EVERY time. Also, it’s BYOB. My husband and I had a great date night thanks to Black Lab! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Thank you to Jim (our waiter) the adorable girl who stepped in as hostess (so professional at such a young age) and the woman who is always there probably the owner- you run an amazing establishment and we can’t wait to come back!

I'm from out-of-town, me and my wife were visiting my son for mother's day. I was looking for a place with outdoor seating for 5. I was looking for reservations for lunch so we could be back on the road by 2pm. Happen to come across this place on Google and saw that this place had pretty good reviews. So I call for a table but the only times that were available was in the am. So I decided to go ahead and set reservations for the morning. They had a mother's day special for breakfast/brunch with a fixed menu. Service was excellent, food was awesome! I had the stuffed french toast and it was amazing. My wife and son loved their food as well. Next time we're back in town we will be hitting this spot up for sure!

We're new to the Phoenixville area and wanted to order some takeout for Valentine's day to enjoy at home. We decided to try Black Lab Bistro for our first time and were not disappointed! We ordered the crab cakes and and braised beef short rib to go. I was very impressed that the food held it's heat and that we did not need to re-heat our dishes at home. The beef was tasty and tender, although I would tweak the sauce a bit to be more complimenting to the meat. But the best news is that they make a great crab cake! I am a huge crab cake fan and am often disappointed, but so far, this is the best I've had in Phoenixville. The crab cakes were fresh and full of lump crab, as advertised. I highly recommend them for takeout and am looking forward taking our future guests to eat there in person.

Food is absolutely delicious! Really impressed. Menu was large enough to have good selections. Service was outstanding and ambiance is very nice. A bit expensive but being a BYOB really helps. Looking forward to returning!

Had lunch today with a group of friends and we all really enjoyed our food and our time together. We a table of seven and there were only couple other parties of two there the whole time we were there, not sure why on a beautiful Saturday this restaurant doesn't have more traffic. At any rate, our server was great. Very attentive but not over bearing. The food was very good. They had a Filet tip stroganoff that was ordered by several people at the table, it was very well seasoned, and the beef was tender. Also ordered was the Shrimp and grits. Also very good flavor, a little heat, but not so much to ruin the flavors of the rest of the ingredients to come through. The last entree ordered was a mushroom ravioli. It was bathed in a sauce that had a slight acidic bit to cut through the rich ingredients, giving it a very good balance of flavors. We ordered many different deserts to pass around and taste. I think the fan favorite was the Cinnamon bun Ice cream sandwich. All of the desserts were good, but wouldn't necessarily say great. The tiramisu was not as coffee forward as we felt it should be and the base was more of a cheesecake than a typical Tiramisu mascarpone cream. The Rhubarb crumble was good, as was the Banana foster crepe. The Key lime cheesecake was not a favorite, mainly because it just didn't;t have enough Key lime flavor coming through. The coffee was excellent....that may sound like a strange thing to comment on BUT I hate having a good meal only to have lame weak coffee at the end. All in all we will definitely be returning to this restaurant and I would certainly recommend putting it on your list to try!
