I saw this place driving by and had to turn around and try it. I saw their claim of not needing teeth... well i can testify you can indeed eat their meat without your upper denture in! Smoked just right. Sauce not needed. Thats how bbq should be! Spot on place to get food!

First time here and I thought it was pretty good. I had dental work recently so I had to eat soft food. You don’t need teeth to eat here so it was perfect 😆 I got the Mac n cheese and brisket. It was a bit pricey but also a huge portion. I want to come back and try it again when I’m 100%.

I have had Honey Bear cater on two occasions; the most recent on 8/26/22. Each time was great. The food came when they said, and was hot. Excellent quality and several different options. The portions were more than enough, and both times there was plenty for the guests to take home. Anna was easy to work with, friendly and got back with me when she said that she would. A-1 service.

I definitely recommend the brisket sandwich and the fried catfish . Great Bbq especially for Arizona.

Always good to support local, and black-owned businesses. I tried their specialty, the pulled pork sandwich and while good on its own, it's better when you lather it with their sauce. Would like to try the brisket the next time I stop by. Their fries are delicious as well. Well seasoned and crispy. 🤌🏼😙

7/1/23 1400hrs $15.19. I ordered 1/2 pound of pulled pork. It comes with their special sauce. I enjoyed the tender/moist/flavorful pork meat! It didn’t need any sauce in my opinion. It was a perfect blend of spices! Fast and friendly service. Clean establishment.

Overall, not great. Pricey, no ambiance, poor location, poor service. Not dog friendly. It is Black owned. Had the pulled pork sandwich. Comes in a regular soft hamburger bun with BBQ sauce on the side. The pork is nothing special. The BBQ sauce was good. My side was coleslaw and they stated it was made in house. It was very good. Overall, not bad. May try it again in another 3 or 4 years.

After a brief business merging in Tempe we needed lunch and I was asked if I’d ever been to or heard of Honey Bear BBQ. My answer is a flat out no. So we drove to what looked like a converted gas station which didn’t seem like much on the outside. It didn’t feel like we were in Tempe any longer …Perhaps something you’d find in a border community. We walk in and the menu is on the wall and of course the place is known for its pulled pork sandwiches, so why would you have anything else? Ordered along with mild sauce and fries. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I am not a huge fan of pork. The place is clean and simple. No frills. The food is why patrons come here. You can see from the photos this is a simple sandwich so I poured some sauce over it and dug in. As pulled pork sandwiches go, this one was right up there. Great flavors, tender, cooked just right. The bun could use a little toasting IMHO. Priced favorably as well so a win on all levels. Definitely recommend this hole in the wall experience. A strong 4 star. If I was a huge pork fan it would probably rank a 5 star.

I was happy to learn this place was black owned so I came here to support while I was visiting Phoenix. Inside the place is a no frills restaurant with seating if you’d like to sit down. It was very clean and the food came out fresh. I ordered pulled pork (with no bun) and fries as my side. The fries were hot - and they were your average crinkle fries. The pulled pork was tender but lacked flavor in my opinion - I had high expectations. It wasn’t bad but I would have appreciated more flavor. The barbecue sauce is tasty but it has more of a watery consistency which I don’t personally prefer. As someone who likes thicker barbecue sauce, that’s my two cents on the sauce. Overall this place gets a 4/5 because the food was ok, service was good, the place was clean, and the food came quick.
