This is a wonderful spot that we frequent whenever we're in town. Our friends have been coming here for decades and the staff and atmosphere are really relaxed and laid back. The food gets your belly nice and full and the hot sauce is flavorful and the perfect compliment to anything on the menu ;)
So hard to find places like this in Phoenix! Locally owned with some history. Friendly service, and she was working her butt off! Busy will regulars which is always nice to see. Food was great diner food, exactly what you want for breakfast and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!
We loved the military wall, thank you to all active duty and veterans! The portions were a little small, but Julie made up for it with her great personality.
Throughly enjoyed my meal! I had the Chicken and Broccoli skillet and it was 🔥 had a side of sourdough toast and it was buttery and delicious! I had to take some to go. Service was great and it had real family feel, seems like they have a lot of regulars because the servers knew almost all the customers by name which I really liked. Would definitely recommend and I’ll will be back to try more dishes oh and I can’t forget the pancakes were top tier nice and fluffy and delicious 😋
This place was very crowded on Sat morning, even we had to wait outside for 15 mins to get the table. food is good but it takes some time to get your order served so be prepared to spend some time if you want to dine in here. Enough menu options for kids.
If you are looking for a cozy and friendly place to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch, look no further than 40th Street Cafe. This family-owned diner has been serving the Phoenix area since 1993, and it shows in their quality and service. The menu offers a variety of American classics, from pancakes and omelets to burgers and sandwiches, all made with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The staff is always attentive and courteous, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Whether you are a regular or a first-time visitor, you will feel welcome and satisfied at 40th Street Cafe. This is truly a hidden gem in the neighborhood, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food and good company.
Nice local shop. Staff was very nice. We ordered the country skillet and corned beef hash. Both were great! They had outdoor seating as well and that's where we sat as it was full inside. It's Sunday so that was expected.
This place is AMAZING!! This is a DINER! They have an awesome menu, you are greeted with smiling faces as soon as you walk through the door and everybody knows your name! It seems like a family like back in the day you would go to have a good breakfast before church with your family.
We had a great waitress who's name is Tina and she was so full of energy and gave great recommendations. You know I got the grits and my friend got the overstuffed omelette and was raving about it! I've found my new regular breakfast spot! This place is kinda tucked off so if you are not looking for it you'll miss it.
Wow!! The take out service and the food is incredible. There are not many places like 40th Street Cafe. Stop by and enjoy the food. 👍😎👍😎
We usually go for breakfast but now we will start going for lunch! Holy smokes!!!! This place makes such good food, everything is amazing. While I highly recommend the chicken strips and the patty melt I am absolutely excited work my way through the rest of the menu.
Two words. Pork. Roll. Can't believe I'm just finding this place after being in AZ for 23 years (they've been around for 27 BTW). This is that neighborhood spot where you can find home cooking and friendly staff who clearly know their regulars. The food was delicious but I'm mainly ecstatic to find somewhere that serves legit pork roll (or Taylor Ham if you prefer). So many other delicious sounding options for breakfast or brunch I will definitely be happily making the 40 minute drive and returning again and again. Will be hard pressed to order something other than the pork roll but the cinnamon roll that my wife got looked legit too.
Best place in town. Great food and very reasonable prices. All of the staff here are really nice people. I hate to leave a good review because I don't want more people coming here! 🤣
Probably the most genuine, friendliest service of any diner around. The regulars attest to this. Food is very good, quantity and quality-wise. Prices are more than reasonable. Old school, diner counter in the front adds to the charm. Hidden gem that deserves more acclaim. The women and men work hard to make this place jibe so well, and to make the food and experience so enjoyable.
Great home style cooking. Filling, just like my mother made. Prices are reasonable and the people are friendly and efficient!
This place has crazy good breakfast! I had eggs, hash browns, chicken fried steak, and corned beef hash with rye toast. The corned beef hash was exceptional oh, but the chicken fried steak was the best I've ever had! Never Frozen, hand breaded chicken fried steak made to order. My friend had the Polish sausage Skillet that looked phenomenaI and a side of 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast and I cannot wait to go back and have lunch there someday.
