Risa and Kerry running a gorgeous brewery with outstanding variety of product. Personal favorite was the Sail Away as part of the Cider Flight - tased a few of their cocktails and ALL delicious. Extremely hospitable staff, great decor - MUST stop by.
Very delightful walk through two city parks from The Old Bar to Hale & True. Outdoor sidewalk seating lent for a great few hours of conversation with the bartender and the liquid sunshine called cider. None were overly sweet, but there was delightful range of flavors.
We will have to go back when my daughter stops back in town.
I really can not speak higher to the quality of cider that is made here! Also, the lovely people that all work here are just so passionate about the business and it really shows. I have also attended a cider making class and learned sooo much, definitely recommend the class!
Enjoyed the cider flight and it's a good way to try many of their ciders. As they'll tell you, it's a dry cider. So if you like cider that tastes like juice this is not the place for you. Clean bathrooms and service was pleasant. They seemed to know what they were talking about with their product when we asked for a recommendation for another glass.
They really don't have food, but that didn't bother me I ate elsewhere. I went there and was impressed with their ciders and drinks that they have not to mention their friendly and knowledgeable staff. Everything but the spirit tastes like is made from scratch. I want to go there again sometime in the future. Definitely a must go if you are in South St.
Bright and classy, this cidery serves an age-old drink in new and exciting ways. Treat yourself to something sweet or dry, this is nothing like processed ciders in a 6-pack. (Don't expect extra sweet "apple juice" with alcohol in it!) truly craft made with options for multiple tastes.
Made the right choice by coming here instead of some crowded bar. The place is modern and clean, quiet enough to hold conversation. Very chill vibe. The staff members were really nice and able to explain about their products. I got the flight to taste four different cider. It was gooooood
Such a cool spot! It's open and clean and sort of cozy in a way. They've got a great selection of beverages (I recommend the cider flight) and the staff is super nice. They'll let you bring in food from Nomad Pizza across the street too which is pretty cool. I'd say this is a great after dinner date spot.
Wanted to check out the new-ish cider place in Philly. Has excellent dry ciders on tap. Great atmosphere and the bartender was able to answer most of my more nerdy questions about the cider itself (methods, yeast, apples). Would definitely recommend if you are a fan of dry ciders.
My friend recommended Hale & True Cider when I was in Philadelphia on January 7, 2023. I tried a cider flight, which included the Standard, Lil’ Sunshine, Cloud Cover, and Hit ’Em High. The Standard was a great dry cider. Lil’ Sunshine has notes of wildflower and honey. I mostly tasted the wildflower though and can’t decide if I liked it. It’s not bad, just a different taste. I think it would be good in a summer setting, like a picnic. Drinking it at a bar in January was a little odd. It might be me, but I couldn’t really taste the honey too much. Cloud Cover has peach, pineapple, and hops. I could smell the peach and pineapple, but mostly tasted the hops and apple. Thankfully, the apple tasted nicely as I’m not a huge fan of hops. The Hit ’Em High was flavored with ginger and hibiscus. A nice flavor combo. Overall, a good tasting.
