I just popped in to get some coffee for the morning and my experience top to bottom was fantastic. The staff was incredibly personable and thorough. They somehow pulled me into friendly chatting despite the fact that I am the human personification of anxiety and awkwardness. The shop itself was small but uncluttered. There's some seating for people who want to sit and work, and they had wifi available. They had some fun background music playing but not loud enough you couldn't hear yourself think. I got the seasonal pumpkin space latte and it was divine. It had a very distinct pumpkin flavor, like eating a pumpkin pie. You could tell they actually make it with pumpkin puree instead of a flavored syrup. I also got decaf without any fuss, which sounds like an odd thing to praise but you'd be surprised how hard decaf can be to find at smaller coffee places. The coffee itself had a complex and nutty flavor beyond the pumpkin spice. I was really just so pleased, I'll definitely be going back.
Ultimo Newbold will always and forever be the best coffee shop in Philadelphia, in my opinion.
The space is beautiful, the coffee is delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and perfectly roasted, the folks who work there are stylish and friendly, and it is just all around a great place to be.
Do yourself a favor and go.
And tip your barista.
Well.
High-end coffee spot and neighborhood staple. I generally stick with the coffee, but this place is an espresso lover or aficionado's paradise. Wide range of options for those looking for a bit of depth to their daily caffeine.
Cozy place to study, read, or work. It is popular and does get a bit busy at times. Outdoor seating available during the warmer season.
For food, they often have unique pastry offerings. However if you're looking for more of a traditional breakfast, this wouldn't be the place I'd recommend. For everything else offered, this is the best spot!
Pumpkin Spice Latte was a hit
Pumpkin bread was great as well. I always love coming here because the coffee is great
so glad to have a union run coffee shop right by my house. aaron and elizabeth, it's past time to finish the contract with your workers! the staff are brilliant and deserve their contract as soon as possible. together you can make it a contract you, your staff, and customers can all be proud of.
I was in South Philly for a periodontal appt and arrived very early. My smartphone directed
me to this beautiful, light-filled coffee bar. Wonderful cappuccino served quickly by two welcoming baristas. The ambience is lovely and calm. I sat at the window bar, but there are numerous seats in the back and some outside. Can't wait to return!
Fabulous neighborhood coffee stop if you like great service, delicious muffins, pastries, fresh made zucchini bread and even better coffee no matter what variety you choose. Highly recommend. I wish there was somewhere like this where I lived.
Amazing cup of coffee, it was made perfectly I am beyond Impressed by the customer service by Nolee who made my drink and offered her recommendations! This is definitely my favorite coffee show in Philly
Top 5 coffees in PHL. Proud to have a union coffee shop in this city. Would love if they set more dates in November to make a contract!
This coffee shop has been around my neighborhood for a while now and today was my first time visiting it. I ordered an iced tea and 2 slices of cake. I paid and of course I give $2 tip.
The barista? he gave me a brown bag with my cake in it and when I looked inside (I'm glad I did), it's only 1 cake instead of 2. I asked him I want the other one too and he gave me the other one.
I know it's probably an honest mistake since he also talking with his other co-worker while serving me, but at least say sorry?? or acknowledge that he made an honest mistake?
I work with customers on daily basis and I expect at least basic simple common courtesy.
I only can give 4 out of 5 start for now based on my recent experience. Maybe better next time.
