Thanal Indian Tavern - Philadelphia - Photo album

Our recent visit to Thanal was a memorable experience for a special occasion celebrating a friend's upcoming wedding. The food was a highlight of the evening, with dishes like Chicken 65, Gobi Manchurian, Mutton Biryani, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka, and Chicken Korma (although we had ordered Chettina
Good food, decent ambiance, and good service. I can recommend this place to you if you are looking for places to try Indian cuisines. The staff was friendly and helpful with food suggestions. Tried Mango lassi in drinks, it was not sweet as I have had at other places. All the appetizers I tried were
Delicious food and very accommodating staff! Tandoori wings, Apollo fish, chana chaat, bullet naan, thanal special goat curry, anjeer kofta...so good and flavorful. The Madras mule was different with curry leaves in it. The staff was very nice and accommodating to our requests as we were a big group
We made a reservation for 2 a few days in advance with no trouble finding a good time slot. It was restaurant week and they offered a 3 course meal with an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $20. For the appetizers, we got the Samosa and Kodi Vepudu. The Kodi Vepudu was phenomenal (and a littl
Delicious food, very attentive service, and a lively atmosphere ( loud, but that's okay). My girlfriend and I really enjoyed sharing food, and they give you (Malabar Fish Curry and Egg Plant Koora pictured, Naan not pictured) large family-style portions to facilitate that. Can't wait to return and t
The food here is really great, we were a party of 8 and everyone like all the dishes that we order. Everyone walk out full and the bill was under 200$ for 8! We got the shrimp tikka masala, butter chicken and goat curry, chicken 65 and tandoori wings as appetizer. Both chicken dish was so good. I re
The cuisine had a rich flavor. Excellent location with a wide variety of choices; the only drawback is that the dinner took a while to arrive. The meal, in my opinion, cost more than it should have.
It's was great experience having dinner here. Delicious food and specially cocktails are amazing. Attentive service and friendly staff.
Great tasting food and amazing service. We ordered pudhina paneer tikka, gobi Manchurian and basil rasam soup for appetizers. All on point! Curries we tried were butter chicken and palak paneer, again both amazingly made and on point. Garlic naan’s a staple which paired great with the curries. Would
The food was excellent, particularly the lamb vindaloo which was ordered medium hot. The service was oddly off. The employees were friendly, but distracted by the World Cup game on the television. Mango lassi was delicious. I dined here on a weeknight during Thanksgiving week, November 2022. Th
This was one of my favorites Indian restaurants from the day it opened. Unfortunately, things are not the same some of the recipes are changed along with the customer service. I do still love their biryani fortunately it still tastes great and same as before.
We had a lovely dinner experience on a weeknight! The food was fresh and tasty and the portions generous. The boneless fish curry was very flavorful and the lamb saag is always one of our favorite dishes here. All the food came out quickly, the service was very friendly. Highly recommend!
Had a great time at Thanal! It was nice to see a full service bar available, even though I received a beer a far cry away from the expected IPA I ordered. The cheese Naan was delicious and the chicken vindaloo excellent. The interior could be spruced up a bit (walls had stains, etc) but it was a sol
Food was excellent. Very romantic atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Chicken 65 is highly recommended great spice The portions were very big and prices are extremely reasonable. Girlfriend first time having Indian food and she was skeptical but absolutely loved everything d
Went there for a lunch buffet with my friends. After trying few places, I can say this is the best Indian restaurant in Philly. Buffet items are limited, but there is a good combination of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Food is not dry. Great quality, taste and service. Friendly staff. Amazi
Thanal food was absolutely delicious. I had the pudina paneer tikka and the podi idli and while I couldn't finish them by myself I really wanted to. The flavor was almost like being back in Delhi. The lacha paratha and mango lassi were also very tasty.
