I've had friends tell me about this place and how awesome it was. The way they talked about the cocktails made it seem like they were the best in the world. I took it with a grain of salt but man were they right.... Le was a great host. He really cares about creating a great experience for all who are welcomed through his gate. Just follow a few rules and don't be an a** and you'll be set. We had Toby Maloney as our bartender. The cocktail experience he created was very insightful and delicious. I had the best drinks I have ever had. I will definitely be back and will recommend this place to every person I know.
A private bar with good vibes! The owner truly connects with all patrons, addressing you by your name from the time he scans your ID, to checking in during the experience, and saying goodbye as he walks you out. The no phone/no photo policy is refreshing and protects the “speakeasy” atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!

Truly a 10/10 experience. The most defining characteristic of Hop Sing Laundromat is the enforcement of a standard and attention to detail. The owners vision is immediately clear upon entry into the main “dining area”. The tables are spaced and the lighting implemented in such a way that every group in the room can actually feel private in their conversation and not crowded in with the masses. The entire experience is intimate. From meeting the owner upon first entry to interacting with the staff; everything is very personal and we loved this!
Now down to the quality of the drinks. Every single cocktail we tried across both the specialty menu and and the standard was phenomenal. Once again the attention to detail is evident in the balance of the drinks. This is truly a place we’re you could close your eyes and pick something at random and know with confidence that its going to be amazing.
I simply cannot recommend this establishment highly enough!
Hop Sing is awesome - some of the best drinks in Philly. The atmosphere is incredible. I think people make a big deal of the rules but they are pretty simple - follow the dress code, cash only, and no photos. Le cares about maintaining a vibe for his establishment and he really cares about the customer experience. Whenever I’ve been he stops by to check in and chat with folks. A must try in Philly
I cannot say enough great things about my experience last night at Hop Sing!!! I loved EVERYTHING: getting dressed up, being vetted at the door, the prep talk about the house rules in the vestibule, the incredible decor, the wonderful staff, and once-in-a-lifetime cocktails designed just for my husband and me. I can’t call Toby a bartender - he is part mind reader, part wizard. I have been telling everyone about it and cannot wait to return. The whole thing from start to finish was OUTSTANDING!!!
Amazing experience! Will definitely be going back. The owner walks you in and walks you out, and it’s so clear he takes such pride in providing guests a wonderful evening. And the drinks were fabulous!! I was gushing over them the whole evening. Can’t wait to go back!

I can not fathom how anyone who truly understands the atmosphere of a speakeasy could not fall head over heels for this place. It’s iconic! The respect and trust is at the core of the establishment. Once you walk up, you’re treated with so much kindness and respect (often times assertiveness is mistaken for aggression) sometimes well forgotten in big cities. Hop Sing feels like it was built with all intention to keep the guest feeling free of the scrutiny of an often ugly world by being selective! Yes…I said selective and holding standards. Yes, there are rules. Yes, a tiny dress code.
My. God. It was worth it.
Go.
Lose your phone. Talk to people. Enjoy the beautiful atmosphere.

Read the reviews before going. If you dress nicely, bring cash and follow the rules you'll have a fabulous time. Went to Hop sing for their cocktail Omakase with Toby. The whole experience was amazing. The owners attention to detail is impeccable! His witty and specific outline of the rules (no photography and no phone calls in the bar area) is a part of the Hop Sing experience. He has high expectation for his bar and staff which extend to his patrons.
Now for the drinks! We were asked a few question to help Toby guide our experience. He was knowledgeable without being pretentious. Each drink was better than the last. At one point he checked in on us and I requested our next drink be a little less sweet, he immediately and enthuisatically made me a new drink that was more to my tastes. It was a fun and unique experience.

My wife and I don’t get away often with two young kids who are very active. When we do make plans to get away, Philadelphia is always considered. There are a million things to do in the city. It is Hop Sing Laundromat that keeps us coming back and making it a point to visit during our stay.
Each time we have visited has been just as good, if not better than the previous time. Consistency is difficult to find in a city like Philadelphia, and operating a business like this one. The cocktails are the best we’ve had anywhere we’ve traveled. No matter your preference, they will have something that will make you stop and say, “Wow…this is good.” Try something new like we have done each visit. You won’t be disappointed and you may surprise yourself with something you really enjoy that you did not think you would.
Prior to visiting, look up the rules of the establishment. Then follow the rules. It’s literally that simple to have an amazing experience. Be patient. Be kind. It’s astonishing how people can’t follow some of the most simple rules, and then complain about it or feel exceptions should be made for them. Immerse yourself in the environment and focus on the drinks and the company you are with. Put away the electronics for the duration. Bring cash. Dress appropriately. Have your ID. Make sure everyone in your party is there. And make sure everyone knows the rules.
