Perfect location, in the heart of the Italian Market, this place can get a little lost with Lorenzo’s directly next door, but George’s certainly holds its own.
Friendly staff, and fast service, this tiny place has a lot of heart. Loved the $7 long roll breakfast sandwiches. Good stuff all around. W
I love to visit the 9th Street Italian Market on my visits to Philly and top off my visit with a Philly cheese steak with "gravy". I would have preferred a little more cheese, we always get it with provolone, but it was delicious.
Provolone and Broccoli Rabe aren’t just for Roast Pork anymore Dorothy!! George’s in the Italian Market!! I am glad I ended up near the Italian Market near lunch time!! I am glad I went rogue!! I am glad I listen to my mash up mentor J Cohl!! Sarcone Roll, Provolone, Broccoli Rabe and Red Sauce for
We been going here for over 20 years. George has the best roast pork sandwiches. The meat is tender and juicy and always on a fresh roll. 4 stars because we can never get through on their phone. We come a long way and twice they were closed and twice they ran out of everything. Putting up a valid ph
After years of research I can conclude that George’s is the best cheesesteak in Italian Market
Great little sandwich shop. Authentic and the best steak with red gravy around!
Real Philly experience with really Philly subs. The tripe cheese steak is amazing
A decent Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich. It has been a few years since I have visited there and I believe their new sign is more politically correct (in today's environment) than the one in my photo is.
Quintessential Philadelphia greasy spoon. That's a good thing. Used to go all the time, but moved outta Philly a few years back. Was saddened to learn of George (I believe this wasn't his actual name) passing away. That was around the last time I stopped by, but they were closed in remembrance. He w
One of SP better sandwich spots for hot roast beef, pork, or tripe
Stopped here on a whim while exploring the Italian Market, and I'm so glad I did! Got the cheesesteak with American cheese, onions and sweet peppers, and you could taste the love that went into the food. Also tried the tongue and tripe, and they were amazing. The cherry on top is the extremely frien
I’m an old “Willie’s” customer, for anyone who remembers the best pork and best tripe sandwiches that you could get in South Philadelphia, ever.
I went here and ordered 1 pork and 1 tripe sandwich last week, just to see how they compared, George’s being the last place I’m aware of where you can stil
OK, simply the best for a pork & broccoli rabe with sharp Provolone. Awesome service and the Italian Market location makes it even better. Makes me wish I lived in South Philly instead of South Jersey to get my pork sandwich.
Always great, been going there for some forty years. Must say quality much better and consistent, compared to Pats around the corner!!Better value and no rush, perfect local spot!
