Downriver Ice Cream

Absolute disappointment. They opened 2 hrs late, the ice cream is melted when served, they are out of certian ice cream advertised, and they did not know this until after they go to scoop, the hot fudge they advised is not hot, and it is certainly not hot. Good, since the ice cream is already melted... although they their whip cream does not melt. Strange. The oreo cookie topping and brownie pieces were both stale. They did not open the cash on the register so they cannot give change. Not worth the trip. At least the servers were apologetic and nice.

Lots of great flavors, though the names don't always tell you what they are. However they've a large board outside that gives you all the details. Prices aren't too bad, $4 for a baby size which is a big single scoop. I tried Mugs Up, which is a nice coffee flavor. The baby size was more than enough for me.

I had coffee toffee frozen yogurt on Friday night June 22 and had a severe case of food poisoning within hours-stomach pain and vomiting. I had had dinner with 3 other people earlier and we all had ordered exactly the same meals, so I know it was not from that. Three of us had ice cream with 2 having soft serve with no problems. I called the business on Saturday and left a message on their phone line and no one had the courtesy to return my call. I am reporting this to the Health Department in Peabody tomorrow. Also, except for soft serve, there are no plain flavors available.

Slow-paced staff. Sadly, inexperienced staff walked around looking for cups for a pint of hand- packed ice cream, they were right there on the table next to the freezers. Then scooped it and not even topping it off a little high like at Treadwell's. Way too high priced pints. Then 5 minutes later when I opened it home it was like runny soft serve. Weird names flavors don't make it mire attractive. This place won't last.
