Review China Kitchen - Pasadena

Katherine Mele
China Kitchen was our GO TO carry out for many years. NEVER again! Tonight the food was beyond awful, they forgot to include the Sweet & Sour Sauce, and the Shrimp were small, with too much breading and overcooked. Fried Rice was very oily and tasteless, Steamed Dumplings tasted old/bad. They also forgot the Egg Roll. Delivery was prompt, the driver was friendly and courteous, the only positive.

Love the food. Been ordering from here for over 10 years. No disappointments. Prompt delivery and I always get my food hot and fresh.

This is our local carry-out Chinese place. I find the food here a little less sweet than other Chinese carry out places. They of course I have just about everything you normally find in a carryout place. We really like their soups. Barbecued spare ribs are less sweet then other carry out places. The folks working there are always very busy, but very nice. I've only given it four stars, but we get food from here quite often. So don't get me wrong, it's pretty popular. I guess to get 5 stars we would need some specialized dishes, that we really love.

Typically, I'm not one to write reviews. Because this place is local I was hoping it was good. I read the bad reviews on this place and decided to try anyhow. They were so wrong! Malicious I suspect. The Won Ton soup is outstanding. Unlike tastelessness that often the case, theirs was/is excellent. Had it a few times more. Egg rolls are very good as well. Egg foo young A+. So far everything they have delivered to my door was as good as Chinese gets. So, I have no interest to mislead. I question the motives of those who gave this place a bad review.

I've ordered from China Kitchen 3 times in the past six months, and they will be getting ALL of my future orders as well. First time I ordered, the food was plentiful and delicious... Seriously, if you order a "large" of anything, think... What large meant in the 1990s. Their large is LARGE. But they're not just doing quantity, the food itself is some of the best I've ever had. I've waited until after my third order to post a review because I've found that a couple local places will send extra food when they get an order from an address that's never ordered from them before, but by the second it third order the quality and quantity of the food declines... This is NOT the case with China Kitchen. Their food was just as good the second and third order. In fact, their chefs specialty General Tso's white meat chicken was SO good the second time I ordered from them that two days later I ordered it again because I was craving it so much that I HAD to have more. It is THAT good. Also try the teriyaki chicken, and the barbecue beef skewers. Heck, try everything... I'm sure it's all just as amazing as the stuff I've tried! Thinking about ordering again tonight!

I'd like to give them no stars but that isn't a choice. I understand that a Chinese restaurant can be very busy and the staff needs to be quick to take orders and such, but there is no reason to treat customers the way this place does. I placed my order and he said "Is 45 minutes OK?" Again, I also understand that they may only have 1 driver and again can be very busy. I said "Sure" and was immediately hung up on. Two big problems I have with this: 1. I was not thanked for my order 2. I wanted to pay by credit card. I will never order from the China Kitchen again.

I order here often, they have great food, great prices and are pretty darn quick about getting food to your door when you order it They do delivery, and I've never had a problem with anything they have delivered. The crab rangoon and the dumplings are on point, and my go-to
