Review East China - Parma

I hope that past reviews don't keep you from trying this great place. I moved here while they were still closed and I'm so happy that they have reopened. I always get the dumplings/potstickers and they are truly insanely delicious. You can tell they are homemade. Stuffed with tons of filling and she cooks them just right. She is ridiculously kind to me too and we're on a first name basis lol. If it seems that she is loud or short with you, it is not out of disrespect...it's just how she communicates and she is also ALWAYS slammed. I appreciate their later hours as well. I'm loyal!

Are they reopening? It's incredible. I went there 2 years ago. It was dirty and the food wasn't good. Neighbors said they were forced to close by the Dep of health .I don't know the reason.good luck guys.

The food was good, and I didn't have to wait long for the food I will be going back in the future.

So happy to have found this great little spot with excellent House Special Lo Mein (just might be the best I've had). Give this place a try for friendly service and great value.

This place is absolutely foul. There are two good to excellent Chinese restaurants within a block of this place in Jackie Chen's and China Jade. Avoid East China at all costs.

Got for me and another and that's all we had that day and that night and next morning, we both where sick to our stomachs .

Was told 45 minutes for my delivery. It arrived an hour and a half later. Then the food was not worth the price. It was barely warm. More expensive than some restaurants but didn't fill the combo containers. The crab Rangoon had maybe a teaspoon of bitter filling. The egg rolls are soaked in grease, not just fried, they dripped oil. Now my children and I have upset stomach's. The bill came to 50 dollars. It wasn't worth it. If they were behind or there was an issue with my order they should have called me.

Terrible service. Was told 45 minutes for delivery. Called after an hr or so and was told our order wasnt ready and would be first delivered. We finally recieved our order after multiple phone calls nearly 2 hours after the original order had been placed and paid for. Then the delivery driver had the gall to whine about not getting a tip. I will never order food from this business or recommend it to anyone. Best Wok at Parmatown is far and away a better choice.

Severely crabby people, leave the service industry if you are so mad at the world. Zero people skills. We keep going back because it is good food, but the people are just unbearable.

Horrible customer service . will not fix any issues.. I always order from here at least 2 times a month . Best Chinese in my neighbor . I ordered sesame chicken combo was delieved sweet and sour chicken combo . I called to let them know and they told me I was lying and they will not do anything about it .. said they don't make mistakes. I'm very unhappy I love the food but I will take my business else where. I will not be treated this way when I pay for my food.

Inappropriate Delivery. I ordered two combination platters for delivery. I called in after waiting over an hour and was told it was on it's way. After an hour and twenty minutes the driver arrived, with a cigarette IN HAND, while handing me the receipt and food. He was unhappy with the minimal tip on the receipt. After I closed the storm door and house door The delivery driver started shouting "hey! Hey you, come out", while banging on the door. When I didn't open it, he opened the outer door and continued banging. Upon opening the door he handed me the other copy of the receipt. I said no thank you, I don't need a copy of the receipt. And he replied no, I need a better tip. <br/><br/>I explained that I was unhappy with how long I had to wait for the food and the fact that he had a lit CIGARETTE in his had while delivering food and that it was very inappropriate.<br/><br/>He then started shouting at me, in a taunting way, "oh because I smoke I don't get a tip?????? Only because I smoke...." I expressed that the problem I had was that he was smoking while handling the delivery. My husband had to intervene and step in to close the door, and the delivery driver finally walked off of my porch.<br/><br/>We also did not receive part of our order. Very unhappy and disappointed with east China. We will never order from this place again.

I never done a review before but i called to place a order and they got mad and rude because there phone was messed up then i asked did they know about how long and the guy got mad again and said i dont know im busy

Really bad. The customer service is pitiful. The pork tastes like spam. We will never go back.

I just called to place an order and they didn't answer. I'm assuming they have caller ID because right away THEY called ME back! Highly satisfied with their customer service. The man who delivers the food is always very sweet and their fried dumplings are DELICIOUS.

RUDE!!!!. The woman who answers the phone is extremely rude! I can't stand ordering from this restaurant solely based on the fact that I have to deal with her! If you don't like your job, get a new one!!!!

Always something missing. My family and I order from East China every time we get Chinese food. It is close to our house and the food is pretty good. The problem is there is always something missing from our delivery order. So we call and they bring It no big deal people make mistakes. Well we placed an order and something was missing. So we call and they say they will bring it, okay that's fine places are busy as the reviewers want to say. But 40 minutes later its still not here so we call again and they say their busy well we paid for this item which should have been in our order we waited for already and at this point have waited an additional 40 minutes for. It finally arrives a total of one hour and ten minutes later (not counting original delivery time). The item looks like it is half way full as we have had it before we know it is not as it normally is. Is that out of spite that we wanted our item that we paid for and called back twice for it, I don't know but its unacceptable and they act like its no big deal. Its just too bad a neighborhood place has no consideration for their customers you would expect that from a chain not from them.

Excellent!. Love, love, love East China! .. have been going there for years. Rude, not at all. They are BUSY and don't have time for idle BS, simple put! .. The owners are awesome and she always remembers me. I have ordered personally in the store and by phone and my order has NEVER been wrong! When I'm not in there for a while, she'll ask how I am cause she hasn't seen me in a while. Waiting for my first delivery order from them now and am sure it will be just as great as if I picked it up myself! Am a die hard fan of East China and tell many about how awesome they are, their food and their prices! East China is highly recommended by myself and my family!

Delicious!. I love the food at east china, I always order from them when I come back home for the holidays. My food is always delivered hot and delicious! The restaurant is run by a very nice family. Being Chinese myself, I understand why some ignorant Americans may confuse their loudness as rudeness but that's just how us Chinese people are. If you can't handle it then maybe you should just go to mcdonalds and get a burger. I also love the children sitting around the restaurant helping out and playing games -- that just makes it more of a family restaurant in my opinion! Love this restaurant, been coming here since my family moved to ohio in 2006, and will continue to come here often!!

Great Family. They are busy and maybe you mistake them being rude for a cultural issues; While placing orders they do tend to yell them in Chinese to the back; but it is mostly take out orders and that is how it is done. <br/><br/>In terms of being rude, never! I go there at least once weekly; The owner has actually customized and created meals for my daughter who is a picky vegetarian and does not charge anything extra. Is this the highest quality restaurant no, but it is good decent food at a good price. <br/><br/>As far as delivery too, wow I get mine in record speed! Do the delivery men always speak English well, no, but they get the job done. The female owner is a Christian woman, who if given the time to understand her correctly, is a very soft spoken gentle hearted woman. Maybe they don't understand our language clearly enough, but they sure know how to cook and have taken the time to get to know my family on a personal level. I think some people just like leaving snotty remarks and try to act more upper class than they really are, seriously it is Chinese take-out for goodness sake not Filet Mignon! <br/><br/>Oh and PS for take out you have to grab your own sauces that are displayed against the wall - there is a sign clearly hanging up encouraging you to do so!

Not many "exciting & delicious" restaurants on this side of town, but the food here tastes pretty good! It's a place for ordering Carry Out, so don't expect too much, regarding behavior! I go for the food, and not idle chit-chat...Here's some advice: When calling in your order, BE READY! Know what you want, and tell them. THAT'S IT!!! Don't ask for the total, because after you tell them what you want, they hang up right away. That's just how it goes. They're too busy, and trust me, if they lose you as a customer, they'll always gain a new one!

First Time - Surprised at Rudeness. This was my first time stopping by here for Chinese food. I was very surprised at how rude the young woman was who took my order. (It was not a matter of being busy; she was just plain rude and short with her answers to my questions about container sizes.) She answered the phone during my order, and shouted at the caller. Be sure to check your bag. Although the food was good, I didn't get what I ordered. And no sauces were included. Not sure if I will bother to go back. I prefer to frequent restaurants that make you feel welcome.

We have ordered from here a few times but never again! The girl that took the order was rude and when the order was delivered we were missing an item. I called them and was called a liar! I tossed out the menu and will NEVER order from them again

These people are very rude. Me & my friend sometimes sit in the restaurant and eat. They look at us like we are animals. Be nice to your customers

Good food, fast delivery. I've found when I am to lazy to get up and get food, that East China delivers good quality, with great hospitality. People must take their accents as rudeness, but I have never felt they were rude, busy, or hurrying me. In fact, the negative reviews of their service, with good reviews of their food, is what encouraged me to give them a shot.

GOOD - not buying into neg reviews. One exp i had was on halloween night - they were clearly overwhelmed with walk-ins & phone orders but still remained polite and provided quick food service and good quality food! i have never had a bad exp and food has always been good here for me. these other reviewers were either way too critical or had one bad experience and that was it for them. i can only say that i have been here multiple times and will continue to go here!

RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!. After a few chances, tonight will be the LAST time we order from this restaurant. Everytime we've dealt with them, the (what sounds like) little girl who answers the phone has been rude and the delivery time isn't anywhere near what they say it will be. When ordering tonight, my husband was hung up on as soon as he got our order out and had to call back twice to give them our cc payment. <br/>I don't care how busy you are....BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS or you wont have anymore!! The only reason they're so busy is because they are one of the only places that delivers in our area. After tonight, I'm willing to pick up.

Horrible wait time. We like ordering from this place, but the time it takes to get food, we ordered 2 hours prior and have to wait to get food, call home place like twice to get food and then the people get upset that you don't tip them when they are running late. the people orders have also double charged for food and the people taking orders are very rude.

Sweet and Sour chicken. Good Food, Very Long Delivery Time But The Food Was Worth It, I Also Wish The Lady Answering The Phone Was A Less Snobby. But Overall I Like It

Busy or rude?. For all of you that think East China is rude, maybe you are mistaken them for being busy. Would you start a conversation with every person that calls? =losing money. How many of you are still ordering? Probably more than not. There have been times when I waited 45 minutes and live close to them but if you want catering to your door, deal with some sacrifices, or drive there. 9 times out of 10, the food is great...I recommend the pork egg foo young.

Signed up just to write this review. The service here really is absolutely terrible. one time i had a driver take over an hour and a half, and like the other person who had that experience i wasn't offered a refund or even a replacement. a half hour or so after that when the driver finally arrived at our house, he started YELLING at us! apparently he had been in a car accident and when we called they in turn called him and put him in a "bad mood;" when we told him to take the food back and have them refund our card, he actually came inside our house, threw the food at our wall, and then stormed out, letting our dog out with him. It was an absolute nightmare!<br/><br/>The food? It's hit or miss. When it's good, it's pretty good. Not the best, but good. But when it's bad...it's absolutely terrible. Anyone who thinks otherwise just hasn't been there enough times.

Unfortunate Experience Will Be My Last.... I was a customer here for four years, and this was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Parma. In fact, I had never even felt the need to try another place. Unfortunately, that all came to an end a few days ago. At 7:15pm on Saturday evening, I placed a delivery order. I was told that it would take 45 minutes to arrive (that's what they always say, and it's usually faster). After an hour and 15 minutes, I called to check on the order. The girl on the phone told me the order was already on it's way, and I accepted that, even without an apology or any sense of concern. Well, after another 30 minutes, I called to cancel the order. The girl said "no" because it was on it's way already, and mentioned that the driver was "new." "That's what you told me a half-hour ago," I said, to which she answered, "it was." I explained that I have been waiting too long for this order and that if it was in a car for over a half hour before it got to my house, I wouldn't want it anyway. So she says, "But we were very busy tonight. Just wait for the order." And I said, "Then you should have been honest with me from the beginning. Then there would be no problem right now. Please cancel the order." The reply to this was a loud "click." Yes, they hung the phone up on me.<br/> <br/>So, rather than doing ANYTHING to try to retain a long-time customer (tell the truth, apologize, offer an incentive), they get to keep their pride, and I get to be the jerk that never calls them again. Well, at least now I have a reason to try some other Chinese restaurants. Thanks for that.

Solid value. Tasty food, big portions, reasonable price, prompt delivery, staff try hard to please. Been ordering takeaway from them for years. Whats not to like?

They're not rude.... The staff(family) here are not rude, just are normally really busy. East China's food is good in its own way, its nothing fancy or different from your standard chinese place. Prices are decent, nothing overly expensive. Lunch prices are decent too.<br/><br/>I can't think of a time I've gone in and they weren't busy. I actually was given someone else order because it was the same and their delivery order wouldn't be ready for a bit.

Its good. The food here is good, its better than most but not the best ever. the people are rude,but ill live with it
