Had the best burger I've had here (had the MN Muenster). Eating ANYTHING after finishing the burger would feel like a sin.

Wonderful gem inside the park! The turkey sandwich on cranberry bread was delicious! Wonderful, courteous staff! Good kids menu too.

The burger, their version of a juicy lucy, was ok. I've had better. After waiting over 30 minutes to be seated, and another 40 minutes for the meal to arrive, we were pretty hungry. The staff was nice & friendly, they were obviously understaffed. Prices were a bit high for the quality of the food & overall experience.

Good food in an idyllic setting at reasonable prices. The Douglas Lodge’s menu has a little something for everyone. The menu features Minnesotan fare including Walleye, Wild Rice Hot Dish, Tater Tot Hot Dish, and wild rice soup. The desserts are very good too. Waiting for a table with a lake view is worthwhile.

Very nice park although they really need better directional signs because it's tough to navigate at night when there is no sense of direction. If you are new to the park, it is simple to get lost or turned around due to the lack of street signs and directional signs throughout the park. Intersections can be real confusing at night time. If your Google Maps phone works in the camp, I advise using it. The boat ramp at Douglas Lodge Itasca South East is NOT meant for boats. It is a dirt ramp, therefore, your trailer will get stuck in the muck. Carry in only at this ramp. Use at your own risk for larger trailers! USe the cement ramps on the north end of the lake for trailers.

The portions and "up-charges" for what used to be included (like fries) are not worth the price. This place used to be very reasonable and had an amazing soup and salad bar. Due to cutbacks and corner cutting this place is more of an attraction than a good place to eat which makes sense when you used to have to wait for a seat any time to now barely anyone shows up. $17+ for a small bison burger with a few fries that weren't even freshly cooked just isn't worth it. I'm honestly sick of waiting for this place to be better like it used to be but at they changed to avoid closing supposedly but I honestly don't see them being able to sustain the amount of people not coming anymore because of feeling ripped off. The only way they get away with it is because they are pretty much the only grub in the park. The cooks don't seem to really care about what they are doing and it shows with the mediocre food given the premium price. At least the waitress we had was nice but that doesn't really make up for the poorly seasoned over priced "food" at the what used to be great Douglas lodge.

The food is good, a nice variety including Minnesota specials like walleye, wild rice hot dish, and bison. The best thing about it is the location--with its rustic north woods feel, it is the most scenic and historic dinner destination you can find in the area!
