I love this place. We eat here at least a few times a month. My favorites are the papaya salad, panang curry and Thom Yum soups. My husband loves the pad Thai, but with extra peanut sauce. We always take away, so cannot comment on the table service, but the food is really, really good.
Best Thai Ever!. The food at Ning's is amazing - always fresh and so tasty. The summer rolls are the best I have ever tasted. Over the course of several weeks we've tried just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Service is also friendly and fast. Two thumbs up!
Some of the best Thai I've ever had, we live on the west coast of the US and love Thai ... this puts them all to shame. In a quite hamlet tucked away on the wet side of the big island.
service was friendly and courteous but the waitstaff was overwhelmed with the line out the door (at 7pm on a Saturday) and I never got my Thai coffee.
all in all this was a 9 of 10.
One of my best Thai restaurant experiences! This place comes highly recommended and with good reason. Fast, friendly service, fantastic food and a great menu. Maybe I'm nerdy, but I get so excited over rice choices. I had never had Thai Jasmine Rice before. It may have ruined me on all other rice- Delicious!! The coconut curry is fabulous. The pineapple curry was very good (definitely on the sweet side, FYI) and my hubby thoroughly enjoyed his Pad Thai. Generous portions and prices. We will definitely be back!
Loved it! Seriously some of the best Thai ever. I had a phad Thai like meal with a peanut sauce! Nom nom. And try the Thai iced coffee, fun twist on a classic :)
SOOO good! The pumpkin curry is one of the best curries I've ever had. And it came as part of the lunch special which includes rice!! Lunch special runs till 4:30 and the dinner till 7/7:30 I think. The service and interior were nice and clean and I am eager to go back! Only thing is, while they're real generous with their specials, the regular meals are about $10 and up and you have to buy rice as a side ($2). Ah and beware the spring rolls. For $7.95 you get "6" which is actually 3 cut in half. Really tasty but a little pricy. Check out the white board with the specials to the left of the counter to get more out of your really really delicious meal.
Sweet Gem of a Place!. Looove this place! I travel a lot and have had Thai in many cities, but Ning's is definitely a little gem - delicious food, great service, and a charming, eclectic atmosphere that is both at once chic and relaxed. One of the highlights of my visits back to Pahoa, every time!
Cute restaurant off beaten path. Had the pumpkin curry, hubby had the pineapple curry and the girls split the pad thai... wonderful food, sweet people, great prices. No alcohol. Could have been "hotter" so make sure you ask. Interesting little street.. looks like it wants to grow into more.
Ning's is one of two Thai restaurants in Pahoa, but we chose it due to a more positive review in one of our guidebooks, and recommendations from the owners of the house we're staying at.
Ultra delicious food. Everything tastes so good. The service is great.
I was initially hesitant thinking it's in the middle of nowhere but truly I'm glad I stopped here and got a super yummy meal.
Hubby and I had been craving Chicken Yellow Curry and we are so glad we found this nice place in Pahoa. Food was very delicious, portions good, service polite and helpful, and it's very colorful inside. We also enjoyed our green papaya salad.
After just one meal you understand why it's as popular as it is. If I had a single critique, it's that their spice levels were off, to me at least. "Mild+" had no spiciness to it at all. Flavor was amazing all the same, I'd just go a level higher in the future to try and get a bit more heat.
Probably the best Thai food I’ve had on the Big Island. It’s a popular place with locals as well, so if possible - try to dine just outside of their rush hour.
Make sure you read their “warning sign” about the food spiciness.
The food we had was freshly cooked, and it was a generous portions.
The food was delicious! The cooks are all Thai so the food is authentic. I felt like I was back in Thailand while eating at Nings, it was wonderful.
Literally EVERYthing here is delicious. On my second trip to the big island it was the FIRST place I had to eat. During our trip we repeatedly made the 20 minute drive to eat here. If you like Thai food you’ll love this. I will say that all dishes seemed to be a bit sweet however I personally love it.
Absolutely delicious Thai food and wonderful for vegetarians. (Often we order vegetarian at other Thai restaurants and they still use fish sauce, but here they don’t as they know fish sauce isn’t vegeterian!) This will be our “go to” place while in the Hilo area. We just wish they were located all over the USA!
It was authentic Thai food. Pretty good. Service was fast and quite odd. Our server never checked on us but oh well. The Thai Teas were phenomenal. The Thai noodle soup was good. Tasted similar to pho but spicy. There are no fans so it’s really hot when you’re eating spicy food in hot, humid weather.
Ning’s is the BEST Thai food I found while visiting the Big Island, Hawaii! They offer many vegan options.
The summer rolls are fresh & delicious. Loved the flavorful Cashew stir fry with rice. The portions are generous too.

Highly recommend.
The staff was just super friendly. Quick service and fast water refills.
My husband and I are from
Belgium and love Thai food. I even learned how to cook some dishes during covid. We both grabbed the papaya salad and laab kai spicy level 5. Finally spicy Thai food. Both dishes were great. Fresh and tasty.
I got the butterfly tea with lemon which was really refreshing. The lemon helped negate some of the sweetness. You can also get it with cream. I tried the ginger ice cream which was also tasty. Subtle hint of ginger and creamy.
We will be back.
We ordered the Green Thai curry (had to order side of rice separately) and the noodles. The shrimps and scallops in the dish were really fresh. We ordered the dish a bit spicy 🥵 and it was surprisingly more spicier than we thought(so make sure you check the spice level). Service was quick and good. They do have 😷 mask necessary inside the restaurant.

We’ve never been to Pahoa area so as we were exploring the town, we came across Ning’s Thai Cuisine.
We ordered the chicken green curry, sea food coconut soup, chicken pad se yu, and beef red curry. The flavor was surprisingly wonderful. Our whole group was wonderfully amazed with each bite we took. But the reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because some of the beef was tougher.
Everything was delicious and we will definitely go back again.
Had dinner at Nings Thai restaurant in Pahoa. Simply the best. Food was outstanding in both taste and presentation. We had the Green Papaya Salad 🥗 and Thai Coconut Soup 🍲 with Shrimp and the Fried Spring rolls . So ono
This place was had a beautifully peaceful vibe and the food is FULL of flavor! We got the coconut shrimp app and it was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious then crab fried rice that was so yummy. I ordered the Mee Ka Ti noodles with shrimp with mild spice which no spice was detected but it was amazing! My hubs got the Massaman Curry with chicken and the mild spice was perfect not hot with a side of jasmine rice.
This place is amazing. We went twice during our trip. The picture included is the Paang curry with tofu, jasmine rice, and the Thai ice tea with coconut milk. The second time I got the Red curry with tofu. The curries were really good. The mild plus was perfect for me. Someone in my party had the RIP spice: it lived up to the name. The service gets a little slow when busy but they were nice servers. Highly recommend
Delicious! A little on the pricey side, but as is everything on the island. One entree/curry can definitely feed two people. The massaman curry was exceptional!
I came in not knowing anything about this place, I was just looking for a small quick meal and be on my way back to Hilo. Well I was quite surprised to enjoy the atmosphere and the overall decor, super inviting!! But then I met my waiter AK and he was super nice and very welcoming! I ordered the Pork Dumplings and they were awesome with a nice Thai Tea with Coconut Milk was fantastic!!! If you drive thru Pahoa this is a must stop for great food and great service!!!! Mahalo Nui!!!!!
Best I've had in soooo long. Amazing curry. Everything was fresh, seasoning was just the right balance between the sweet, spicy, I could have slurped a bucket of that yellow curry sauce! I'm so sad I cant find anything as good where I live!
