A cute Italian restaurant off the main drag in Oyster Bay. We were able to walk in on a Friday night without a reservation, but it was a popular spot, so I’d suggest considering getting a reservation just to be safe!
The food was ready pretty quickly considering the number of tables that were occupied. Service could have been a bit better, as we were never offered drink refills even though our cups were empty. Also too much ice was used so sodas became very watery.
The bolognese was good, and I’d get it again.
Casual Italian place in downtown Oyster Bay. The menu features standard pasta fare, as well as typical entrees. Pasta and entrees come with a side salad and rolls.
I had the seafood via diavola pasta. It was tasty but I felt like the portion of pasta was a bit small (especially when it's a $25 entrée and pasta is $2.50 from Stop and Shop). It was good, but I probably won't rush back.
We were seated next to a family with few little girls who were quite rambunctious. They were singing, farting, and running around which made for a noisy meal.
This is a very nice place
Mondays are very quiet and are a good day to try them out. My veal Parmigiana was thin, tender, and delicious.
Stopped here for lunch with my brother-in-law who lives in the area and frequents the restaurant.
All day menu but we overheard the waitress telling the table next to us about the lunch specials which she neglected to tell us.
I tried the WARM SALAD, with Seasonal Greens, Fresh Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Artichokes, Roasted Peppers, Tomatoes, and a Balsamic Dressing, very god.
My wife ordered the Chicken Pastina Soup , comes in two sizes, cup or bowl. She chose the bowl size which was huge, chicken with pasta in a broth, also very good.
Nice dining establishment in Long Island (Oyster Bay). We were visiting on a cold windy rainy day during the holidays and enjoyed our late lunch at this Italian eatery. The soups were excellent and hit the spot. My wife and I ended up sharing the seafood spaghetti - loaded with shrimp, calamari and clams - excellent sauce.
Only downer - the sullen server. I would recommend the management to get someone even mildly cheerful - especially right after X'Mas!!
I stopped here for lunch today and ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana with a Caesar Salad on the side. The portion sizes are VERY generous, which makes the food worth the price. The staff here are also very helpful and make the whole dining experience much better. All in all a great meal!
My first time at Cafe Al Dente with my good friend and I have to say we both had such an amazing experience. Besides the food being so delicious Connie our host was such a delight as well. We truly felt so welcomed being here and would definitely recommend this to anybody who wants to feel good energy while enjoying some delicious Italian food.
Rounding up to four stars here. The restaurant has been around a long time so I assume they're doing things right for the most part. Our meal was a mixed bag however.
The bread (tasted homemade) and salads with the house dressing were very nice.
Oysters were great - fresh, briny, exactly what we wanted.
Baked clams were just missing two things -- a pinch of salt or grated cheese and one more minute under the broiler. Nice whole clams (not chopped like some places), just need a bit more seasoning and browning.
My fish special was nice enough -- flounder and shrimp francese with lobster ravioli and spinach. The ravioli tasted like funky crab not lobster but the flounder, shrimp and spinach were on point.
The other order was for seafood fra diavolo. Our fault for ordering it mistakenly as "shrimp fra diavolo" -- that's not on the menu. Bad news the waitress could have asked to clarify. Good news, they did make a special off-menu shrimp diavolo for us.
Unfortunately, it was almost inedible. The sauce tasted raw, uncooked. The pasta was unsalted, overcooked. Shrimp were fine but we could barely get through half of it.
I think if you're more careful with the menu you can have a very nice meal here, they have been in business for 30 years for a reason. Nice friendly service too.
We were so pleasantly surprised at the excellent food and very attentive server. They have outdoor dining set up beautifully.. plenty of space between tables. Honestly this is the best food we've eaten in a very long time and pretty fair priced for what they give you. portions are very large and we really love the food and wine. We will definitely be back again and the music entertainment by Jen and Larry was terrific
The owner, Damien (spelling could be wrong lol), was incredibly warm and knowledgeable. I'm assisting my sister with planning her daughter's Christening while she's in South Carolina and everyone at Café Al Dente was patient and welcoming.
This place makes me feel like I’m in an Italian dinner in the 70’s. The atmosphere is great, live music and the FOOD! Their food makes me want to lick the plates, so delicious. (Vegan options are Available, second photo is Eggplant with pasta)🍽🍝
OMG the best restaurant; salad, so fresh, delicate and good, the pasta wow, I really enjoyed, everybody was gentle and always smiling. Generous portions.
1st time here. Very delicious main course ( lasagna, meatballs and sausage). I really liked their sauce. The tiramisu, however, was not at all to our liking . Good portions. I ate leftovers for 2 days afterward. I will definitely be back.
Been here many times and staff is always friendly and food has always been delicious. The Mozzarella stack is a must try as well as the dirty snowball for desert. Came recently again with my wife and two friends and everyone loved it. One of their specials was a skirt steak with Gorgonzola Marsala sauce and truffle ravioli and it was amazing.
a remote and quiet village in upper New York, a nice and clean restaurant with a veranda. With pleasure I stopped there after work and ate for $20
Connie was a super attentive waitress from the time we walked in the door till we left and the whole time in between. The food was excellent. The food was served quickly and was delicious!
Absolutely delicious!! Staffs were very friendly too, would definitely come again!
