Akira Sushi Bar

I live an hour and a half away from Owasso, but Akira is one of my favorites and I try to go anytime I have the chance. Gloria has always been and will always be my favorite!! I ordered a pretty basic roll today and asked her to suggest a second one for me to try. She asked what things I liked and what my allergies were (if I had any) - then suggested a roll. It was the BEST roll I have ever tried there. If you have the chance to have “Gloria C” as your waitress, you will not be disappointed, she’s the best!! Thanks for always being great, Gloria! *she suggested the Big Daddy Roll*

I have went to Akira several times over the past few years, but have finally got around to reviewing this fine establishment. Akira has some of the best Japanese cuisine in the Tulsa Metro area. The Steak Shikoyaki is always delicious, and their Miso Soup is far more flavorful than several competitors. I have always had wonderful service, very attentive and they never keep you waiting on the check. The atmosphere inside is very modern and clean. Overall, I have found good Asian food difficult to find in the Tulsa area, but Akrira is definitely worth a look.

Really great sushi selection here. I tried the Owasso roll and it was super tasty. From the moment we walked in, the girls at the front desk, our waiter and everyone who worked there were all very friendly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the sushi tastes fresh. I was just sad that the Uni had ran out, maybe we can try it next time.

Update: return visit and more in love with it than before! The Mr. T roll was calling my name! The Ahi big eye tuna sashimi melted in my mouth! Fantastic late night dinner! We came in 30 minutes before closing and received incredible service! We will be dreaming of the deluxe sashimi platter till we have it again! Every piece of fish was melt in your mouth fresh! The crab Rangoon was fresh and not at all greasy! We also had the Mr. T roll, probably ordering one for lunch today it was soooo good!

Front desk service is mid, HOWEVER, the waiters are honestly the best in the area. Also the food (specifically the sushi) is some of the best in Tulsa County. I recommend the Pandemonium roll (super good), also the Loving water roll is way up there too. The house salad is super good too, it and the dressing are flavorful and light. I’ve been here hundreds of times no exaggeration through the many years that Akira has been here and is still my favorite restaurant to this day. I have been all around the US still cannot find sushi that rivals Akira it honestly is the best.

Food and service is good; however, the hostesses and host are something else that I can't get behind. They are always on different pages from one another. If you request to sit at the bar they try and put you at a table. We don't want to take up that much room which is why we request a bar spot. Then again for once we requested a table for our party and they gave us the bar. Now so I don't have to deal with it all I just do to-go orders from there.

The presentation was amazing! The food was all very good! The only thing I will say is it’s a little odd that the mango fried ice cream cake with chocolate syrup.. not gross just odd, it didn’t taste bad and I get it’s for presentation but might I suggest strawberry or coconut? Anyways everything was very high quality and the service was great! We will be back!
