Bologna Cafe

We weren’t sure because it had changed owners, but we were delighted to have another wonderful experience here. The food was delicious. The staff was attentive. And it made for a glorious night . This is a place to visit over & over. And Sophia is very helpful on helping you make suggestions. We will recommend this to all our Florida friends. !!

The couple that bought the place have failed, as I expected. The original owners have it back and it's WONDERFUL again! The chef and most, if not all, waiters are back. Went back for a second time; it's one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Sarasota County. Very authentic northern Italian food cooked to perfection. Well trained wait staff and very friendly atmosphere combined with exquisite food. Outstanding!

Original owners are indeed back and it is great again! For those who had the unfortunate experience with the second set of owners, PLEASE do NOT let their menu, prices and attitudes affect your willingness to come back now. All of the original staff and kitchen are back — the food is wonderful, the service great and the ambiance and specialness have returned. Original menu back in place and the food case is full again with all the wonderful meats and vegetables that Bologna Cafe was known for. We had a group of 6 — all hoping that the rumors of the original owners being back were true. Sure enough, we walked in the door and welcomed by everyone — it was like coming home. We learned they have only been back for 4 weeks, so we were so happy we got to enjoy the original Cafe before some of our friends went back north for the summer. The amuse bouche was back and as great as ever. The wonderful appetizers were as well all remembered, and the fabulous entrees were just as good — if not better— than we all remembered also, The service was friendly and attentive, and the owners came often to make sure everyone at all the tables were happy and enjoying their meals. The dessert and after dinner drink menu was also back and as delicious as ever. Since coming back, there are even some extra little touches we all noticed that add even more specialness to the Cafe. While we were sad the original owners hadn’t come back sooner (and before most of the snowbirds left), we are happy to be able to enjoy the *real* Bologna Cafe we all love.

This restaurant is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I I need a good meal, this restaurant comes right away to my mind. Great and diverse food and a large menu.professional team, and agreeable ambience. Not less important, the cost is good. I recommend this restaurant with great pleasure.

For me, the Bologna Cafe is a place to go for a special night. I couldn't afford it very often, but for the infrequent special event, its perfect. They consistently have friendly helpful service, fresh delicious and authentic Italian food and a warm, welcoming environment. My wife and I celebrated my birthday here this year and it was amazing. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to eat there again.

I wanted to rate this last night but thought I should sleep on it. I must warn people that this is not a place for the everyday person. This was my third visit. The first two times were with friends and we had great service. I wanted to take my mother who has cancer and is a light eater. We shared an appetizer and both had entrees. The food was 5* but service 1*. We did not finish our entrees and our waiter packed our food and slapped desert menus on our table - I said we were full and he said to look at it. 15 minutes later he came back and I requested our bill. The place only had a handful of customers because it's off season. The owners were there and had to see the situation. The bill was $80 and with tip $100. I will never recommend this place again!!

Six of us enjoyed a fabulous dining experience last night at the Balonga Cafe. All of us have traveled and dined at numerous fine restaurants. Each of us had different entrees and we all agreed that this restaurant is one of the best. Bologna is back to the quality restaurant it was when it started. Quality stumbled the last couple of years when owner founders Claudio and Barbara sold the Place. Well they are back with the old staff and chef's and the result is the wonderful food, service, and personal attention of the owners are there once again.
