Review Flavor Of India - Oro Valley

Andrea Gold
We had an excellent meal and service here. Most people are doing take out during Covid-19. This restaurant just recently opened there dine-in service (Dec. 2020). They take all the precautions and the place was very clean, also without any tablecloths or fabric napkins during this pandemic time. I learned they have a special takeout plate for $11 that you can order online.

Fantastic food, ordered the veggie dinner for two, as an amazing assortment for tasting different options. Only thing holding me back from a 5 start review, is we ordered for takeaway, and they didn't put in the rice that suppose to be included. Nothing my pressure cooker couldn't whip up in a few minutes. Get food and will eat again. Highly recommend.

Delicious food! Reasonable prices, especially the Flavor Box, and plentiful. High recommendation.

Simply the best Indian food, made with no junk/sugar that I've eaten in USA! Please try their "flavor boxes"for a real meal you'll eat it all up asap!

I was a little reluctant to have curry made with coconut milk, but I have to say it was really superb! Our food came out very quickly and in perfectly sized portions. The food was fresh very vibrant in taste. There were a lot of options on the menu that made it difficult to choose, but ultimately you can't go wrong with anything on the menu

Tikka massala and Naan are super delicious!!

This place has it all: tasty food, large portions, and good prices. Dine-in is closed but this is my go-to pickup spot!

Truly delicious food and fast, friendly service. It’s also a family-run business so I feel good supporting them as opposed to chain restaurants. The food is fresher and better, too! The lamb meatballs are my kids’ favorite and I love their naan... I can’t get enough. My family has a wide variety of tastes and we can all find something we love here!

One of our favorite restaurants in Oro Valley; love to stop by for dinner after a movie. Food is excellent quality and good beer selections. Staff is friendly and service is also excellent quality. This place is a gem!

Great food and service. I am from Europe and have eaten Indian food in a number of countries. This place is good.

Service is excellent. The papadum and sauces served before the meal are always excellent! Any of the sagwala entrees are very, very, good. Love this place!

I was scared at first but we went in for the lunch buffet and wow, I was quite impressed. The food was great, we will be revisiting this place.

Awesome place to eat

Absolutely amazing food and awesome lunch buffet! If I could, I would eat here everyday. I'm pregnant so certain foods are difficult for me to enjoy but not this place! The naan is also great. Must try if you haven't!

Friendly, convenient, and delicious! Our all time favorite is their Murgh Makhani.

Excellent food and service! Start with the curried crawfish pie....its yummy! And if you order a lamb entree try some of the green mint sauce on it.....really boosts the flavor!
Cary Todd
Great quality and food! Large menu, though I would like to see more vegetarian options.

The best Indian food in Tucson.... Every time you visit. Excellent customer service! Also available for catering. Many of my guests rave about the delicious food.

We had lunch buffet, and it is so cheap. Lamb meatballs is really good. Tandoori murgh, murgh makhani is just what it is. Like the crisp from veggie samosas.
Chai tea is the worst you can get.
Dining room is neatly set and very clean. And there is woman that keeps filling our water, she is very nice.

Both my wife and I got sick before we left the restaurant. I suspect that the dinner entree was re-served from the lunch buffet (looked like leftovers), and if so was not handled properly. Aside from that it is far below par for Indian food, even for Tucson. I would give a generous real-world overall rating of 2 stars. that is if the food was not tainted. As for the other glowing reviews, they are either bogus or just people that don't know good food from bad. If your up for a good Indian meal, go elsewhere. If you need to purge your digestive tract, Bon Apatite.

After 3 years. We just left Flavor of India restaurant and we will not be going back again. My husband and I frequented this place several times a month for almost 3 years and it was fine. Today, we came by with our son and expected the same service and we eat just about the same dishes every visit. Today the owner/manager was annoyed because I told him my glass of water was dirty. Then when our food arrived he basically just dropped it on the table and walked away forgetting our rice. So we waited for a few minutes and still no rice. I didnt mind getting up and asking nicely.....well apparently, he didnt like that either and gave us cold rice from the buffet. If that wasnt weird enough, our food tasted old and rubbery. My husband and I agreed the food was made either the day before or early that morning. It was bad and guess what, we wont do it twice! I will also not allow them to treat me like that again!!!

We love it!. We have only been there for lunch, to enjoy their wonderful buffet. A bargain when you consider the wealth of choices. Of course, I adore their nan and if you ask nicely, they bring you all you want.

Dont Bother................ Its not worth your time or your money, the servers are certainly pleasant enough but the food is terrible, bland , cold, tired and not worth even giving a second chance....................

Small buffet for lunch with one choice of naan and no papadum. Everything was good but they need to expand the variety. Most meal were really saucy and went down well with an Indian beer.

Food is OK. Beware of the ATTITUDE of the HOST (young male in his mid-to-late 20s, probably the owner's relative) who rings you up - thinks he and his restaurant are doing a favor to the customers. I personally, am NEVER going back, and will tell my friends, colleagues and neighbors how RUDE the HOST is and how it ruined my family's dining experience.

I am a big fan of Indian food and I have eaten at this restaurant several times. The lunch buffet is good. The service is not very good. There is a two dollar charge for extra rice, and it is also two dollars for extra pre dinner crackers. Serving sizes are small. Masala sauce has no flavor.

Let me start by saying this... I know what Indian food should taste like and this was not it. After an hr drive to the restaurant we were there for all but 45 min. Ordered a starter, tangri kebab that was served with the main course. The chicken was grilled only on the outside and was mediocre at best. The vegetables served with it were raw. For the main course, ordered some chicken biryani and Rogan josh. The biryani was one of the worst biryanis I hv ever had. The raita that was served with the Rogan josh was tasteless. The Rogan josh was bland too. We took the left over Rogan josh to go but dumped it midway to the house. Didn't care much for rest of the food. The host was good enough to not charge us after I complained (I had a living social deal on me though). Would not go back n would definitely not recommend.

Excellent food. I had a very nice meal at Flavor of India tonight. I had chicken curry and my daughter had lamb curry and they were both great. Their naan bread is amazing and the service very pleasant. It is our favorite Indian restaurant in Tucson and we were never disappointed

Really Amazing. I love Indian Buffet, and I judge the restaurants i go to based on the saag (creamed spinach). Based on that, these guys took the cake! The saag, the mint chutney, and the naan were the best I've had EVER. The service the food, and the atmosphere were all lovely and top of the line with out being snotty. Thank you Flavor of India for providing Tucson with great food.
I just wish i lived closer!

Excellent food, excellent service!. We came for lunch and had the buffet. Everything was amazing! The samosas were very light and well seasoned. I highly recommend the mushrooms with herbs! Fantastic! Very attentive service. Truly, a first class dining experience.

My wife and I enjoy good Indian food and we found a gem in the Flavor of India. The buffet was wonderful. We will tell all our friends!! We look forward to returning.

The best Indian this side of the Gandes. Easily the best in Tucson, maybe the US.
Huge selection of dishes including vegetarian.
All made to order and to your particular palette.
A must visit.

Simply the BEST in Tucson!. If you are like me, and tired of looking for GREAT Indian cuisine, search no more and drive up to Oro Valley! It is WORTH IT!!!
Simply the BEST in the Tucson area!
I LOVE Indian food, and when I moved to Tucson about a year ago, I have been sadly disappointed in the Indian here. I didn't even know this place was open until I found a coupon in one of the weekly mailers and I am so glad that I did!
I brought along a friend, who doesn't even like Indian, and she even agreed that this place was AMAZING!
First, the service. On point and very friendly and accommodating!
Second, the starters! We shared a vegetarian platter and it was hard to stop eating the samosas and pakoras to save room for our meal! They were AMAZING! The samosas were evenly seasoned and light and crispy. The Pakoras, one of which was a battered spinach leaf, was perfectly battered and AMAZING!
Third, the meal - I love Mali Kofta, the sauce came out burnt, but it was STILL MUCH BETTER than any I have ever had in Tucson. I told the waiter my concern about the burn gravy and he quickly returned it to the kitchen and I was made a fresh batch. The new batch was GREAT! Even though I was happy with the burnt gravy, the properly cooked gravy was MUCH BETTER!
My friends meal - the Murgh Makhani Chicken - she said was moist and flavorful. She ate it all! And she doesn't even like Indian food!
The naan - WHAT NAAN SHOULD BE (I hope you're reading this Saffron!!!) Light! Fluffy! AMAZING!
I can not WAIT to return! It is WELL worth the drive and I highly recommend this place!!

Outstanding, best in Tucson. C and I live not too far away from this place, and we waited expectantly for it to open. Being a Brit, I have missed a good Indian restaurant here in Tucson, and so far, nothing has come close to being that anywhere in the Old Pueblo. We have tried everywhere in town, sometimes several times, but have invariably been disappointed. Until now. Flavor of India has been consistently excellent all the times we have eaten there, and we are both firm fans. Pretty much everything we have tried has been extremely good, and their use of spices is second to very few. It is easy to 'spice it up' and mask the true flavors, but here they have a way with the spice jars that is exceptional. The Foil Chicken has got my vote for dish of the year, and I urge you to try it.
Starters are tasty and plentiful, and the breads are some of the best I have had. The Raita is a must-have, and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed if you like Indian food at all. For those of you who are new to it, please take the plunge and don't be afraid to ask the staff their advice. They willingly give it, and are very knowledgeable with it.
Please go there and support them, they deserve to succeed.

5 Stars plus!
