Taqueria Ameca

Hidden gem in sodo for sure. The food tastes amazing and authentic. So glad to finally try it. Had tripa (intestine), lengua (tongue), asada and caloeza taco. Everything is so good, but my favorites is tripa, cause it’s crispy. Like everyone says, their corn tortila is homemade, they’re good! Had rice and beans too and they’re good. They’re renovating their dining area right now (6/13/23) they say gonne be ready in 2 weeks. definitely gonne come back. The only downside is the service is extremely slow, went there at 11ish in the morning, it takes them 40mins for 5tacos, rice and beans. Maybe i was too early:(

Unbelievable soft taco tortillas the amount of meat they give you here is far more than any other taco shop. Even under a new name and I presume management this is the best authentic Mexican food in town. The tacos come with only the meat then you go to the bar for onions cilantro and hot sauces. That way they are always the way you want. Can’t wait for my next visit. Which is usually once a week.

We went there after spending the weekend at a resort for our grandsons birthday and stopped to eat there. We didn’t want to stop at some fancy big restaurant cause we was all tired and ready to get home so we picked this little hole in the wall place. Which was the best we could have done. We all got something and was very pleased I got aguachiles and was very pleased and the home made tostadas to make it even that much better. We will return just to have a nice quite dinner and we are 1 and half hours away.

Los Amecas is just right for the price. The Birria tacos are good but we asked for the quesobirria tacos which had a lot of cheese. We thought it was too much cheese but maybe you will think otherwise. The meat was very good and the taco was crunchy. The Birria sauce was great. There are plenty of hot sauce varieties on each table to add some extra spice. The rice and beans were just right and we enjoyed the authentic Mexican touch of adding peas to the rice. We will be back and will try something different next time.
