The Kona Cafe is located in the upper lobby of the iconic Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World. It is not as loved as the famous Ohana next door, but it's a solid choice if you want a sit-down restaurant. The atmosphere is loud, but in a good way. Seating is tight and tables are close together. Menu is delightful, but a picky eater might not be pleased. Sushi was very good and artfully presented. This restaurant is on the expensive side for a casual restaurant, but it's the location you are paying for. If you wanted cheaper food, go to Capt.Cook's cafeteria on the bottom floor.

Very lovely Breakfast experience at this location! They had a good variety of gluten free options for my husband and were very accommodating. The food was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves. The resort security did check my ID and my reservation before they allowed me on the property, just as an FYI. The parking lot was pretty full but I was able to find a space. I had the nut pancakes and the description says it comes with pineapple sauce, but they arrived with pineapple chunks as a topping. I just scraped it off - not a big deal, but the descriptions might not be super accurate.

I loved everything about Kona Cafe. Coffee was amazing and the service was top notch. I ordered the Tonga toast with banana filling. It's super sweet so if your not into sweet for breakfast might want to try another dish. The outside had sprinkled sugar and they serve it with your choice of banana, strawberry compote or syrup. It comes with bacon and the bacon was awesome. Not that typical boring bacon you get at resorts it was crispy and flavor full. The bacon was a nice savory to the sweet toast. 😋

Kona Cafe for dinner was a great experience. We enjoyed the short rib and the steak dinners with the delicious Hawaiian rolls.and butter accompaniments. The portions were perfect. We were so full, but we opted to get the bread pudding to go for dessert. They have changed their menu to include a variety of sushi options. There is a selection of cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks to pair with your meal. On previous visits, we have enjoyed the chicken wings and pot stickers, as well. We have never had a bad meal here. It is one of our favorite locations, though we usually come for breakfast or lunch. We also visited for lunch on Thanksgiving. I enjoyed the stir fry with chicken, and my husband enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner and pumpkin tart.

We had breakfast here so can’t speak about the dinner experience. Requires reservations but we were seated within 10 minutes of walk up. Food was excellent. We both got the macadamia nut pineapple pancakes with ham and spiced ham. Keep in mind the spiced ham option is spam. The combination of flavors in the pancakes worked well and they really didn’t need maple syrup. Keep in mind they are very heavy so you’re likely taking a box home. We also had the moana smoothie and the liliko’s juice. The smoothie was more like a milkshake but tasted sweet and savory while the juice was refreshing. We would definitely come back for breakfast. Finally we were never rushed but we were also eating at around 9:45am so it was pretty slow.

This review is for their dinner menu specifically. Poki bowl is exorbitant and very small portion albiet tasty for 22 dollars. Could have included an avocado atleast. Polly lolly roll was $26 and was just ok. Not the best presentation, although I tasted soft shell crab. The tempura battered shrimp was the largest seafood seen on the roll. Not pictured was the pot stickers which usually are extra crispy, but not this evening.
We prefer the lunch menu with ramen and steak salad. Executed well. Better price and larger portions. Sangria was not very tasty. Hawaiian rolls also were not as sweet as I remembered from previous meals. They are included.
Go for lunch. Lunch saved this review from being 3 stars.
Where we sat, I found it hot. Myself and the table next to ours had our fans on.

Always a great experience and a must stop dining experience, especially for breakfast. The Macademua nut and pineapple pancakes are out of this world. Not too sweet and if you ask for the strawberry puree that goes with the Tonga toast and use it as your syrup, you will have the perfect combination.
The full breakfast is also very good and it is affordable, especially for Disney resort dining. After all, including coffee, you're looking at about $45 to $55 for two people.

So, the last time my wife and I were at Disney, we tried to get into 'Ohana for dinner. We were unable to do so, so we opted for Kona Cafe instead.
We arrived about a half hour early and were able to get a table within 15 minutes, which left us feeling pretty good. That was quickly dashed, as we were not greeted by anyone for about 15 minutes. Another server who noticed we were sitting there decided to take care of us as a result. Good on her!
We decided to get the Seafood Pu Pu Platter for an appetizer and it was decent. The portion was a bit scant for the price paid, but it is Disney. The shrimp and calamari were the stars as they tasted the best. The fish was okay.
My wife got the Kona-braised Short Rib and I got the Tuna Poke. I should have went for something else, as the portion was small and left me wondering if they left the other half in the kitchen. It was okay though. The flavors were balanced and the spice was just right. My wife's short rib was great! She loved it.
For dessert, we got the 'Ohana bread pudding and, because it was my wife's birthday, they gave us some smaller desserts as well. The bread pudding was phenomenal, as per 'Ohana standards, and the smaller treats made for a great late night snack.
Overall, if we came back, it would be for breakfast. I've heard it is fantastic. Dinner service was mediocre for the Disney prices paid. We were ignored by the server who had our section and the portions were not the greatest. What we got though was tasty and fresh.

Truly an incredible experience! Claire, Tabby, and Jessie helped to make our daughter's 16th birthday a great day! Claire's smile lit up the restaurant! She ensured our party of 9 sat together, comfortably. She and Tabby were extremely friendly, happy, and professional. Jessie offered us impeccable table service. Drinks were refilled often and she made sure to accommodate our picky eaters. The NY Strip, mashed potatoes, and carrots were delicious. Made to perfection. The four orders of Sticky Wings were also incredible. Our favorite wings without a doubt. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. You can't ask for anything more. Again, a huge thank you to Claire, Tabby, and Jessie for making our dining experience truly fantastic. You're lucky to have these women on your team!

Always a good choice!!! The apps were delicious. Chicken wings and pot stickers. Dinner was just as good. We had the short ribs and then had spicy tuna sushi roll and a side of the truffle mushrooms. All were so good !!! We love coming here!!! Marybel was our server and was super nice !!

We tried their new salmon dish, which has a LOT of flavors, not just your normal cream cheese and smoked salmon from your favorite deli. It has some salt, so could be a bit much if you are not prepared. But the way they serve it, there are a few pieces that are easy to share around your table to balance the intense sweet of your favorite Tonga Toast, a banana-stuffed french toast, served as a cubic loaf of sugar encrusted goodness. Their coffee is also a special Kona variety that you won't get many other places at the resort, adding a little special Hawaiian flavor to your morning, or relaxing brunch on a kickback vacation day!

This is our family tradition to eat breakfast/brunch before heading back home. Kona never disappoints. Just be aware that you get A LOT of food and all of it is delicious. Service is always spectacular... And they always make you feel like Ohana.

Love this place. All the deliciousness without the big O'Hana price tag. I mean I love O'Hana but this is nice smaller option. Just as tasty and still the amazing Polynesian atmosphere.

This was one of our groups favourite restaurants. The food was delicious but what truly made it special was Chef Carlos! We had a bunch of allergies at our table & he took such great care of us making sure we felt comfortable and cared for during our dining experience. He was fun & memorable. He treated us to complimentary desserts at the end of our meal & it really made our night!
