Dona Mary Mexican Grill

When I am craving real Mexican food, this is my favorite restaurant to go to. I love their pozole, menudo and churros. There are still so many delicious dishes I have to try. If you are used to the Americanized version of Mexican food, then you will not appreciate the taste. The staff is extremely friendly when serving your food. When I take friends to this restaurant, everyone has a great time and enjoy the yummy food.

The food is good. Similar to other Mexican fast food places like Beto's and Racherito's however, I will say that the food is more fresh. Each time I've gone to one of the other places mentioned, my tortilla has been burned. Not here. The tortilla was fluffy and fresh! And the ingredients in the burrito I ordered did not make me feel gross after eating it. The cashier was friendly, however, he didn't tell me that I needed to pick my food up at the window. There were a handful of other people there too, so when I saw what looked like my order sitting at the window, I wasn't sure if I should go up and grab it or wait, but the cashier wasn't busy and was just standing there, even though a bell was rung. So I just walked up to the window, verified it was my order, and took it back to my seat. The atmosphere wasn't bad. My friends and I laughed at the over-sexualized paintings of the indigenous people on the walls just because they seemed out of place. Otherwise, the place felt the exact same as La Morenita and many other Mexican restaurants up and down state street. Overall, I would eat here again.

Our family did a street taco tasting night. This place won out of three other locations. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and well cooked. The sauces were the best. The green one I used was not super spicy but enough kick. Can’t wait to go back for more. Only con: I wish they offered a taco Tuesday promotion.
