I lived in SoCal growing up, there was a woman that stood outside a store and sold tamales for $1. This restaurant was the closest I've found to authenticity, and her Tamales. I've been to about 10 Mexican restaurants, this is by far the best food, and excellent staff.

We ensure a meal (and margaritas) at El Portal each visit to our property in Omak, and they never disappoint. Staff is super attentive, food is solid, salsa is great. If you're into heat on the latter, ask them to mix you up a spicier version...it'll get you fired up!

If i could give them a 10 that would be more apropos! Food w as s awesome, highly recommend the chili relleno it was the best one i've ever had ( from ca to pa)! The service was a 10, family owned with a collaborative vibe of sheer joy 😊. I was.almost reluctant to rate them so high for selfish reasons but this place was worth the 165 mile trip! Loved it!!

Best Mexican food in Washington State. Authentic and fresh. They don’t skimp on anything. Staff is amazing. Safe and clean and COVID ready. Must stop for lunch if your passing through. We make this a special stop after a weekend in the hills camping before we return home towards the coast.

This place is amazing Beyond!
My Dad Myron Mead lived in the Okanogan Omak area and loved El Portal dinned here at least once a week. He passed away last November and this past weekend we celebrated him there. These people are the best gave us the best service wonderful food. We also have gone there before when we visited and loved the place. They went out of there way to reserve a spot for 14 of us on a Friday night one of there busiest nights to give us the best. Thank you to El Portal
