Review Shahi India Grill - Omaha

Inside the restaurant is quite beautiful. It's quite comfortable to sit in with a beautiful abstract water fountain that I found a bit mesmerizing. It's not crazy but I thought it was cool. The booths along the wall might not fit larger patrons. My friend had to move the table forward to make room. Generally though it is fine. Appetizer platter 3.5 stars Nothing really stood out for me. The fish was my favorite. It wasn't as crispy as I would have liked it. I tried everything except for the samosa. Oh, I will say the tamarind sauce (I think that was it) was better than normal. The green sauce on the side was kinda just there for me. We ordered medium spice and found it to be quite mild. Tikka masala shrimp 4.25 stars Decent sized shrimp, good flavor Saag chicken 4.5 stars I'm not a huge saag fan normally but I felt like this was done better than the norm. If I loved saag I feel like this would be a 5, but my personal preference makes it so it's not. Lamb curry 4 stars The flavor on the curry was good, pretty standard, but the lamb pieces were a bit hard/chewy (not tender ). There was a lot of meat though so that we a plus. The naan bread did not have crispy bits to it For me this is good For others it isn't. I liked the amount of butter the garlic naan had on it as well. I had not checked the parking situation as I walked there, but I did note there is metered parking around.

So I’ll say the food was amazing! No complaints. But the service needs work. Might be a better place to just order and pick up from. We got seated and after a few minutes a waitress filled our water glasses. After that we did not see her for a good while. No coming by for our drink order while we look over the menu. When she did finally come by we were not even asked what drinks we wanted, we had to tell her and then give her our order. It’s just not very attentive service. The place was not busy. Other than that the food was amazing and I highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this Indian Grill! It had delicious food, a fantastic atmosphere. It was just about 50$ for a couple to eat here. This is without dessert, but we did get an appetizer along with a main dish. It's hard to stray from this price point, as all the main dishes are the same price, as are the appetizers and desserts, and there's very few addon's, such as Lamb instead of chicken, for example. So you will hit just about 50$ for two people every time. Overall it was delicious, their medium option was truly medium heat, their mild barely had any spice, and I cannot say about their hot option, although I'd imagine it's true to it's name. Overall nearly a perfect Indian grill.

I’ve been here 3 times in the last week since I tried for the first time. 😱 It’s so delicious!! I had the Biryani chicken twice and the butter chicken. 🤤 Best thing I’ve ever eaten. Flavorful & perfect. Naan bread is good, also.

Got the korma paneer, garlic Naan, and ras malai for dessert as takeout. Overall the food isn't bad, but my main complaint is that I requested very spicy (highest option online) and it's barely spicy. If you are someone that likes the heat it may be advisable to make a note or ask them to make it "Indian spicy". What I got felt like barely medium. The korma paneer gets good points because there are a lot of paneer chunks which are my favorite, but the curry could maybe use a touch more salt and could pack more of a flavorful punch compared to what I'm used to with other Indian dishes. The garlic Naan is delish and there is plenty of it, rice is also standard and tastes good. The ras malai was almost 4 dollars for 2 smaller pieces and some liquid, not really sure if that was worth it for the small amount you get.

Very tasty experience. Got there right when they opened at 4:30 and was the only diner in the place for most of the time. The interior was elegant and surprisingly open and just a delight visually. The resin encased roses and the central glass paned fountain was just so beautiful. Anyway. Food. I got the chicken Tikka Masala, mild. I don't like spice very much. They did a spectacular job on the flavor without the heat. The basmati rice was aromatic and soft. The sauce was excellent. I also got both the garlic Naan and cheese stuffed Naan. They were both very good- and I had to admit defeat about halfway thru them. They were just too large for just myself and my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I am very curious about the chafers set up near the front and if they do some sort of buffet. I will have to check it out!

Went here for the first time in Winter 2023 and it was delicious! Received take-out on a Monday evening in 15 minutes. Chicken tandoori and garlic naan were the best way to start my week. Butter sauce will have me coming back soon. Ambiance inside looked nice and had original decor. Online price showed Tandoori Chicken around $12 however my receipt was $14~. Can’t complain though with everyone else downtown raising prices.

When I walked into the restaurant, I was intrigued, but when I rounded the corner to the sitting area, I was absolutely wowed--completely blown away. Each table is garmented with a white table cloth (covered with white paper), silverware, and a beautiful glass accented with a vibrant yellow napkin. The room is quite pleasant to look at, especially with the real-life waterfall near the center. The booth we were seated in was a bit snug, which made sitting down and getting up a bit of a process, but lookig around there seemed to be lots of seating depite the place feeling pretty warm and intimate. We came on a cold Wednesday evening, so we were 1 of eventually 4 parties. Because of this, service was fairly quick, and our waitress was lovely. Going to the bathroom to wash our hands, we ventured down the steps into the basement. The restrooms were visually appealing, but not so aromatically appealing. Having a proper 3 course meal, we ordered appetizers, a main course, and desserts. The chicken appetizer was your standard chicken tender with a faint taste of coriander. The garlic naan was also pretty standard, though a teensy bit tough. Both apps were served with mint chutney and a sweet-and-sour-like sauce. After a short wait, our main courses came out with 2 bowls of rice for our group of 4 to share. When you order, you are asked your desired spice level. I ordered chicken tikka masala at the mildest spice level (1) and it had a lovely balance of tang and spice. I scraped my bowl clean. For dessert, what you order is apparently served to the whole table by default. We wanted to try the fried dough balls, but the menu was out of date and the item was no longer available, so we all tried a dish described as "a cheese ball in syrup." Needless to say, we didn't quite know what to expect, and when the dessert came out, we were each presented with one ball, and with its level of sweetness, that was more than enough. All in all, you need to try this restaurant. As a person whose only exposure to Indian food was in my college dining hall, I needed to try the real deal, and the food and ambience are something I wish everyone could experience.

The food was amazing. The butter chicken with garlic naan is my favorite dish. It’s so beautiful on the inside and the service is excellent.

We had dinner here at April with two other families, it’s a high class restaurant with good ambience and food options, we ordered many dishes with starters and appetizers and all the items tasted good, the naan, biryani, chicken tikka masala were all excellent must try, we got some complimentary desserts rasamalai, gulab jamun too tasted very good, will highly recommend this place for tasty Indian dishes, this place is more like North Indian cuisine as their menu had more of the style, spice levels. I missed to take pics of all the dishes as I forgot and got busy in finishing the dishes, will highly recommend to friends and families.

Rice cooked to perfection. Malai Kofta that tasted like heaven - the best I ever had. Friendly servers and atmosphere. Excellent prices. If you're visiting Omaha this place is a must.

I've never enjoyed Indian cuisine until I tried Shahi. I'm forever converted. Their food is SO GOOD. Give this place a shot and you will not be disappointed!
Happy Day
Shahi is my go-to place for Indian food. I mostly ordered deliveries. The food arrived hot and the packaging of food was nice. The food was delicious. They were also able to accommodate my need to get rid of the potatoes from the sauce. The only downside is the small portion

I'm frankly split between a 3 and 4 star and had to give the benefit of doubt. The ambience is great, staff is friendly. Though be watchful, if you arrive by yourself, you maybe assumed for a food delivery person. This place has an option of ordering spiciness from a level of 1 to 10, I ordered 11 and would say that it was enough spicy. What I'm not sure about is the taste of the dish, I ordered chicken vindaloo and found it to be sour. I have had chicken vindaloo several times before and it never tasted like this. Maybe they've localized the taste? The rice that came with curry was nicely cooked. Worth exploring though.

Great food! My wife and I got a meal for two, and it was more than enough for us to both fill up. We ordered a dirty vodka martini. The food was great, but I don't think they are savvy with alcoholic beverages. It tastes like they used olive water straight out of the olive jar instead of a brine or juice. We loved the food! Just won't get drinks in the future.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Omaha. The food is flavorful, and the staff are always extremely friendly. I've had several dishes from the menu so far, including both meat-based and vegetarian/vegan, and each one has been delicious. The atmosphere is also very nice. It is calm inside, with an indoor water feature that creates a nice flowing water sound in the background. And unlike so many restaurants these days, this one doesn't blast loud music in the dining room, meaning you can actually have a conversation with the people at your table. Definitely give this restaurant a try if you're looking for a place to eat in downtown Omaha!

Very nice Indian dinner. Service was great and the food was good. We had a curry and biryani and both were very good and huge. We could barely eat the next day and still had leftovers. Both were medium in spice level which was nice-a bit of bite but nothing crazy. Prices reasonable
