Review Barrett's Barleycorn Pub & Grill - Omaha

A fun, relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff and a nice menu. The chicken cheese steak (loaded) with Irish fries was delicious and a very generous portion. Looking forward to trying the beef cheese steak next!

Solid little local favorite bar and grill in old town with American food and lots of beverage options. Service was friendly and prompt. Seating on my visit was 1st come (seat yourself). That said, seating is available inside or outside, and overflow restaurant space is also available. There is even a sand volleyball court outside in the back as well which is unique. I enjoyed some electronic darts with family while awaiting my food, which came quickly and was a very sizeable portion. Burgers, Reubens, and Philly sandwiches are favorites here. Additional options available such as clubs and more. Parking is tight however, so prepare accordingly as one may have to park across the small city street or around the back. Don't miss this casual little local dining hotspot if in the area. I would certainly stop here again when coming through town for a bite with friends or family.

We ate at the bar. The food was amazing. It was everything I've wanted in a hamburger for a long time. I would say the burger is in my forever top 3. I honestly had two burgers that were in my forever favorites spot and now I have to have a 3rd spot. Also we had a Philly cheese steak, I would say it's the best in town. Service was great, I found the bar to be very comfortable. You'll have to be patient with parking if you drove and arrived at a busy time but you will be rewarded!

I hit Barrett's pub a few times a week on my way home around 730pm. I can always count on excellent and prompt service coupled with a smile and food that is always satisfying. Their burgers are big, juicy, and never overcooked and dry. It's satisfying some days to know that when I'm finished working all day I'm going to sit in the pub and enjoy a delicious meal that is top shelf plus the prices are beyond reasonable. There's never a reason to get fast food when you can get a grilled cooked meal as fast and cost-effective like Barret's. Try it once, and you'll be a regular

foods great, service is great, definitely a good spot to catch a game, I find it weird that the guy I believe to be the owners son just sits and gets drunk all day and night there, kind of a bad look. Used to be a lot more fun when it was a late night spot! but still will be back around, that damn philly is too good

If you're looking for a delicious cheese steak, Barrett's Barleycorn Pub & Grill is your place. The cream cheese sauce is fantastic. The bread is super soft and absorbs all of the sandwich juices without getting soggy. I do wish that the outside of the sub roll was a little toasted, but it is still a damn good sandwich. You can get it loaded, which comes with peppers and jalapeños. It doesn't add any extra heat but does give the sandwich a different favor profile. The sandwiches come with fries or chips. These are your standard bar fries. Nothing special. I do like how the droppings of the sandwich fall on the fries. Yum! Very good! I will be back for this sandwich.

A smaller place but lively and comfortable. The service was quick and friendly. The fish and chips were delicious, seasoned well, flakey and tender. The Reuben was awesome. The bread was the perfect thickness to act as a vehicle of deliciousnes rather than the main part of the meal. Sports were on all of the televisions which is perfect for fans. If you are looking for a quiet cozy spot, this isn't it, but it IS a great spot for a nice bite, chatting with your people, and catching the game/s.

I was very very impressed!! Cool little spot with plenty seating. Great bar and the kitchen is in a tiny corner when you first walk in, holy cow the quantity and quality they put out was astonishing!! 3 guys with literally feet to work in just nailing it! The bloody Mary was awesome, a pickle would have set it off! Service was great all around. We had the french dip and the New York club. Probably two of the best sandwiches I've ever had! They also have a horseradish mayo so good I could eat it with a spoon. I definitely will be back!

Normally, I don't review bars. For the most part the charm is what I like when I go out, and most themed bars play up heavily on that theme. This place is no exception. I always make it a point to check out the local fan fare, and I can say, this is probably the best place I have ever had a Ruben. The only thing that can match that is the service I got. Both were beyond anything I've had in a long time. Minneapolis has a lot of Irish bars, but the simple setting is met with an absolutely wonderful flavor I haven't had in years from such an establishment. The apatisers were wonderful, and the balance of flavor in the Ruben was amazing.

Got the famous Philly here and it definitely didn’t disappoint. It was flavorful and the fries were crispy. Also got a side of their fried onions which came with a side of ranch - also really good. Wish the side would’ve come out earlier but it came out the same time as the rest of our food. Service was alright. The lady that served us acted a little pompous.
Road Tips
Barrett's Barleycorn has been voted in local publications as having the best reuben in Omaha in the past. The reuben at the Barleycorn was piled high with thinly-sliced corned beef and was oozing with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing with each bite. The marble rye bread that it came with held together very well with the mess of a sandwich. I've had a number of reubens in Omaha over the past couple three years and it's difficult to me to say which one is my favorite. But the one I had at Barrett's Barleycorn was very good.

Went to lunch w my moms boyfriend and one of our favorites spots in Omaha is Barrett's. It's a staple in Omaha. Amazing bar and grill food. I got the chicken philly and it is hands down the best in town. It is very unique, they use cream cheese and maybe a little peanut butter but that's not a fact. The chicken is so tender and shreds when you take a bite so maybe they boil it then put it on the grill, I have no clue. We just split a philly and it was plenty. The picture I took does NOT do it justice. Barrets has one of the best Reuben's in town. I love the bar atmosphere, it is a classic mid town spot and its a regular place I go to get some great eats.

Love this bar to death. Perfect bar food, atmosphere, drinks, and service. The place for soccer matches and game days. I will always return to Barrett's.

Wonderful community atmosphere, proper bar/pub setting. Volleyball courts, large patio, den like party room. GREAT PRICES, I had the Reuben, not my favorite in Omaha. The bar food is properly done and the staff is friendly

Best hidden treasure. Was skeptical when family took me but it was the best philly cheese steak sandwich I have ever eaten and I have had some great ones from philidelphia. Will definitely go back again when back in town.

Messy, but tasty. I recently discovered that I really like Reuben sandwiches. Since then, I have been on a quest to find my favorites. Since I read that Barrett's Barley Corn had a good one, we decided to have lunch there today. I really liked the feel of the place when we first walked in. We were greeted and we got our drinks very quickly. It was a little while before a waitress asked if we had placed our order, but that gave us enough time to check out the menu. I noticed several other things I would have liked to have tried, but my heart was set on the Reuben. My husband ordered the Everything burger. Our food arrived pretty quickly. I was anxious to taste it, but it was just too hot. Eventually, I finally got that first taste. It was sooo good. I liked how the corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing were all mixed together. It did make for one big and messy, but very tasty sandwich. It was probably the best one I have tasted so far. My husband also enjoyed his burger. We both didn't care for the fries very much, but the sandwiches more than made up for that. This will not be our last visit .

Top hole in the wall. My wife, a few friends and I went expecting to get a couple drinks and some average bar food. The menu appeared to be regular bar staples with some eccentric points. I played it safe and went with the beef and cheddar. Did not expect it to be as good as it was. My wife's friend is a vegetarian, and bar food wise usually settles for just fries. The Veggie philly far exceeded that. Everyone was impressed. It was excellent and we'll be back!

The best chicken nachos!

Check out a Jays game here and eat a burger. I was surprised at the tastiness and quality of the "bar food" served at Barrett's. The burgers are great...good portions and cooked perfectly. The dessert fries are heavenly little artery cloggers that will leave you sucking the powdered sugar from your fingers as you ashamedly ponder the thought of ordering a second round. Good service and cool little joint.

Best burgers in town. I love Barrett's. Great, home feel eatery. Staff is friendly.
Monday's are burger nites - buy one get one free - AWESOME deal! If you love those gooey, tasty burgers... you will find them here.

World's best chicken philly. The chicken philly is amazing. How do they turn out such good food in such a small space?

The chicken philly is marinated in szechuan and teriyaki sauce, then grilled with onions, shrooms, cream cheese and swiss. Pure heaven. The chicken is cut into chunks and it's so tender!

Throw in a pint of Lucky Bucket or Guiness and you'll never want to leave.

On Thursdays and Fridays they serve their signature pork tenderloin sandwich. I've never ordered it, but I've seen it delivered to other tables and this thing is as big as your face. People devour it.

The Food Is Great. The best time to get food at Barretts is lunch time the cook is the best. Happy hour from four to six is great after work and they are always slow and give the best service from like 3 till 5 from my experience.

Yummy!. Some of the best greasy bar food I've ever had. The sandwiches are fantastic. I love their grilled ham and cheese and their One-Eyed Mick (hold the mayo please). I haven't been there in awhile, but I do remember that when it's busy, you can expect a wait.
Side Note: the women's bathroom is super tiny.

Great Midtown bar and hall. Barrett's is a mid town landmark. Whether you are upstairs in the stately banquet room or downstairs in the more intimate wine cellar, you are sure to enjoy the food as well as atmosphere.

Both sandwiches were insultingly and embarrassingly large in portion size. You can call it "value" or "bang for your buck" if you'd like, but there is really no reason for anyone to ever eat that much food in one sitting. But if you bring a buddy (or take a doggy bag), I suppose you needn't worry about spending all that food money you saved on your diabetes meds instead.

the prices were good and portions were huge
