Review Louie M's Burger Lust - Omaha

Cheryl Lynn
One of our new favorite breakfast spots. Servers are always nice. Prices are decent. Food is good and fresh. Just wish they had a little bit more breakfast things like frittata or something like that.

Waitress was super friendly, food didn’t take very long. Hot and fresh, a little under seasoned but had salt and pepper and a variety of sauces to make it your own. Blue cheese burger was good, good shoe string style fries.

I almost don't want to leave a review so it doesn't get crowded. We love this place if we are in the mood for a burger and fries. My husband loves a good burger and I love the garden burger. Add a side of half fries and half onion rings and you are all set. If you are really going for it... add a malt. They are classic malt shop shakes. Enjoy!

We stopped here while driving thru Omaha. My wife got the Mushroom Swiss burger that was amazing. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich. My tenderloin was ok. There was not much flavor, and about 1/3rd of it was inedible due to the consistency of the tenderloin being too tough to chew. Overall, the service and atmosphere were great and most of our food was amazing. We would definitely come back and try again.

I haven't had breakfast from Louie Ms in far too long. I love the food and the service is always great!

"I'm going to be disappointed by every other burger for the rest of my life now" - My wife. Food was amazing, staff is friendly and helpful. Amazing old building with a ton of history. Food was the bomb.

We drove in for a dance competition and, after 3 hours, had to feed some hungry kids. We were seated quickly and given menus to look at. The menu was simple, and they had daily specials available. My kids enjoyed their cheeseburger, fish & chips, and strawberry french toast. My husband and I also enjoyed the fish & chips but the star of our meal was the clam chowder special! The chowder was absolutely delicious!!

We just moved to Omaha, and we're thrilled to find such a great little eatery so close to our new home. My Reuben was superb, and my husband enjoyed his fish and chips. The onion rings were the best. We'll definitely be back!

The best service!! Such a variety of fun options and the onion rings are just amazing! The atmosphere is so fun and inviting. This place is a great spot for a family dinner or a fun get-together with friends. Definitely order a burger when you go!

Best breakfast in town hands down. Ever single item on the menu for breakfast is amazing! They are also well known as the name suggests, for their burgers during the lunch hour. Food is served quickly, never a long wait here and it's got a very quaint s.all town diner appeal to it. Absolutely love this place.

Wonderful menu selections! EVERYTHING....I MEAN EVERYTHING, is 100% delicious and cooked to order. Don't miss an opportunity to try the fare here! Below is Eggs Benedict Florentine and a Crab Omelet. BOTH were SOOOOOoo good!

This is a true icon in Omaha! Their food was amazing great prices and I can’t believe the food actually came with coffee included! Family friendly great service thank you decor.

We came here after a long day at the zoo. The staff was friendly and we were seated right away. Our food came out quick and did not disappoint. We all ordered burgers except one child ordered a mickey mouse pancake. The pancake was as big as her plate! The burgers don't come with fries so we ordered 2 baskets and a basket of onion rings. The burgers are big and juicy. Everything inside is clean and exactly the type of place we look for when travelling. We like those small restaurants in the towns we are in. It was awesome. There is parking on the street, but also a small lot in the back. We forgot some sunglasses and the waiter ran them out to us before we left.

One of my favorites! The food is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. The owner is involved and the staff is amazing. Been going to this place since I was a kid.

We had never been there before but went to brunch on Sunday. Took grandma and 5 kids so there were 8 of us, called ahead and they set us up in the back room which was perfect and no wait. Service was great and super friendly food was delicious and well priced. (Corned beef hash was amazing) Definitely going back for a burger!

We stopped by for a nice evening meal. The waitress, Lucy, was extraordinary! The outside seating was spacious and comfortable. We ordered the Nachos as a starter. I am not a fan of deep-fried flour tortillas but my wife liked them. Tina's Burger was delicious; slight reminder of Italian sausage, while still maintaining the burger flavor. I had the special; a fried onion, bacon, garlic burger with Bree cheese. UNBELIEVABLE! For dessert we tried the Kalua Shake, which had the perfect balance of Kalua and ice cream.

Food was meh, service was so friendly and kind, I thought personally that the burgers didn't have enough sauce but that could just be me. I would go again but it's just not my style

Went for breakfast with a friend. I had the Italian omelet which is a 3 egg omelet with Italian sausage, sweet red mancini peppers and mozzarella cheese. It was very good. The accompanying hash browns were cooked very well. I substituted a pancake for my toast and was very happy with my choice. The pancake was large, thick and fluffy.

The waitress and manager were very friendly and seemed to know the names of almost everyone who entered. Service was very good, the food was excellent and the prices very reasonable. I will be coming back to try their burgers.

Louie M's is the most friendly restaurant in Omaha. Louie, his sons and staff, especially Jimmy, welcome you and are fun and attentive. All the food is delicious and served as quickly as can be expected given the fact that is often packed with hungry customers. It is an A list restaurant if you enjoy good food and a good time.

Not Impressed. It's located in a neat historic part of Omaha that is officially called "Vinton Street Commercial Historic District." I do wish there was a huge influx of money and interest in this little area as it could truly be awesome.

I found it to be a mostly average burger. It's not particularly juicy or flavorful. They're flattop grill burgers. No yummy flame grilling here. They don't ask you how you want it cooked and their default seems to be well done. Judging by other some other reviews even if you ask it to be cooked a certain way you'll still get a well-done or medium-well burger. Seems to be a frequent complaint. Burger "fixings" come on a separate plate which I thought was a good idea.

French Fries and Onion Rings were also a let down. Both are just frozen, out of a bag, from a supplier. Typical shoestring fries and breaded onion rings. Homemade fries and beer-battered onion rings would be a great addition to their menu, but they've chosen to go with the same lame frozen stuff you can get at any discount warehouse. Disappointing.

Lots of condiments on the table (4 different hot sauces too).

Iced tea is from a fountain. I found that appalling. What privately owned diner like this serves fountain iced tea? Might as well serve instant coffee too. Fresh brew your iced tea or just don't serve it at all!

I will say that the people that I saw eating breakfast (they serve breakfast all day) looked like they were eating some really yummy food. So, perhaps that is where this place truly shines? Their biscuits and gravy and their eggs all look magnificent. I will have to try it again for breakfast food sometime.

Service was friendly and attentive.

Atmosphere, eh. Service, terrible. Food, excellent.

So far so good.quiet. server is nice. Ordered onion rings a patty burger and the bacon cheddar burger. 2 minutes or less onion rings are here. My words on first sought, wow! Taste lacking. No sauce. Nice crunch. Onion pulls out. 5 minutes burgers r here. Look yummy. Fries average. One word - bland. I'm sorry but its the truth. Good music, good vibe. We only were given 1 napkin....

A six overall. More flavor and spice please! Or homemade sauces at least

Awesome dinner. I've had great homemade pasta dishes and the burgers are great as usual. They also have a pretty good beer selection, though limited.
Wyattpt
Top 3 burger place in Omaha in my opinion. They have burger recipes you can't get anywhere else and the onion rings are big and great!
Obpomni
Gustatory. Serves dinner on Friday and Saturday. Had the special, candied plantain, bacon, peanut butter burger. Don't recoil. Quite a tasty combination.

Atmosphere was really cool. Service was good. Burgers were average

Sweet Place to Dine. I really enjoyed my first Louie M's experience this evening. Both my girlfriend and I tried the burgers; her the trish burger, and I had the swiss mushroom dijon. We agreed that the burgers were cooked right, not too dry. Some places cook the juice and flavor right out of a burger. The toppings were fresh and delicious and prices were reasonable. Well I have had a better burger, I couldn't complain about much. I would like to try their pasta dishes which were the special of the evening, and looked very delicious. Their reuben sounded good and I will also be coming back to sample the breakfast. I can't forget to mention the atmosphere. Very warm and homey with an old time classic decor. A one of a kind place.

This place is awesome! We tried this place a few years ago, now it's a regular stop when we come to town.

Wednesday Breakfast. Excellent hot food. Clean restaurant in the front of the house Bathrooms ok. Experienced staff who were prompt. We both ordered omelets. Mrs. Giantsfan had a guacamole and bacon omelet, I had the ham and cheese. Mrs. Giants fan thought her omelet was good but the Guacamole should be on top or to the side She didn’t care for the spread warmed in the omelet Just the right portion, buttered Orsi’s toast and served so hot I had to let I cool a bit.. Very well done folks

The other thing about the restaurant.. Original wood flooring with a mixture of booths and tables. A group of regulars were holding meeting .. Interesting conversation such a nice change of pace. No need for a television with CNN or music blaring Tears for Fear etc…. All the wall decorations were authentic. Quite a collection of items… Almost a history less of the City of Omaha

If this restaurant were located out west it might be busier but part of its charm is the Vinton St area. I recommend a trip to Vinton St and south Omaha in general for a good meal and maybe some new discoveries n a great neighborhood.

That's one good burger, Louie.... Essentially, I will be unable to adequately describe just how good Louie M's Burger Lust burgers are. For once I lack the words. Absolutely fantastic family run joint, we were made to feel comfortable and attended to during the short wait (they kept checking on us, making sure we were good, entertaining our son, etc.). They were packed but really turned the tables as the freed up. For the burgers....? Just go, go and try them, all of them. They were just that good.

Still a Boyhowdy Experience!. With all the "pretenders to the throne" of the Ultimate Omaha Burger Experience ( let's refer to this as UOBE) I stopped at the Louie M shrine for breakfast last weekend. I had the corned beef hash and over easy eggs. As we grow older our memories tend to glorify stuff that may or may not have been glorious, the hash browns were "pretty good" the eggs were "OK". Is my memory failing me or does this taste like Mary Kitchen supermarket corned beef hash?

More Bang for Your Buck. Why waste your money going to a commercial hamburger joint when you can go to Louie M's Burger Lust and get a 1/3 pound hamburger, with a sesame seed bun with a PLATE of fries or onion rings and a table that has a MINIMUM of 4 hotsauces and other bottles of burger toppers that I hadn't never seen before and I have traveled extensively! The place has the old fashioned malts and milkshakes and they bring you the silver cup so you get all that goodness. They are very accomadating as well, if you don't think you can finish a whole order of fries or onion rings, ask for a half order...in a word, the place is wonderful! Louie is very sweet too, although, after 10 years of patronage, I still haven't summoned the courage to ask him about his Anger Management Certificate on the wall...oh well...I guess I will always have a reason to keep going back! If you love burgers and dawgs, this is a place for you! I was just informed to call on Friday and Saturday and they may be open for dinner!!!

Server was rude; must hate her job/life. Asked for burger to be medium but was dry and well done. Did not bring out top bun; had to ask for it since I guess they forgot. Had high expectations but would not willingly go back.
Max
Great Potential There burgers were good, but they were very dry and not juicy at all. Other than that they were great. So I would definitely recommend this place but ask for your burger medium.

For breakfast, the homemade corned beef hash is fantastic. As far as burgers go, the bacon guacamole burger and Trish burger are top notch. Great environment and friendly staff. This is a must-visit restaurant for the meat eater.

Incredible burger today! Had the jalapeno/cheddar burger that I added some louie's peppers to. Yeah, best burger in at least the past year. This place makes the best burgers in Omaha. Their lox is great as well.

Very Tasty Neighborhood Breakfast Spot. The family and I took a road trip up from Kansas City in order to take the little one to the Omaha Zoo. I read all of the positive reviews for this place and knew I had to try it. I seek out and support locally owned businesses when at all possible. The restaurant was conveniently located about three miles from our hotel in Council Bluffs and only about a mile or so from the zoo.

We were looking forward to a good breakfast in preparation for a long day of walking through the zoo. Louie M's did not disappoint. My wife had the chorizo scramble. I had the huevos rancheros. Our one year old ate off both our plates. Both dishes were very good. The huevos rancheros had a pork and green chile sauce that was tasty. The sauce had a sweetness that I attributed to the use of ripe tomatillos. The refried beans that came with the huevos rancheros were also good. Our son enthusiastically ate both the chorizo and huevos rancheros.

Service was attentive. Prices were fair. I'm really glad we ate at this neighborhood gem. I would most definitely eat here again. I'd really like to try the burgers next time we are in town.

Husband and I hit up Louie m's today for lunch. The area of town had me a little worried, but the burgers were delicious. Burgers were cooked perfectly with fresh toppings and very generous in all aspects. Blue cheese burger was delicious, as was the bacon cheddar burger. The basket of fries was more than the two of us could handle. There was more condiments on the table than we have ever seen - ever. They do have brewed ice tea now by the way. A previous review mentioned the ice tea being from the soda fountain. We loved the throw back interior, I look forward to taking my kids for a trip back in time. I just wish they served milkshakes. Absolutely delicious in every way.

Where burgers are king!. Louie's delivers exactly what they promise in their name in the kind of cafe you'd expect to find in an old business district. There are two sides to Louie's, one is a regular diner/cafe style area and the other more of a full-on restaurant with booth and table seating. Neon accents and historic pictures of Omaha fill the walls. The focus is on burgers here with over 20 different ways to get your burger. I had a mushroom swiss burger which is my benchmark for burger joints and Louie M's came through with flying colors. The burger was large (bigger than Stella's) sandwiched by a sesame seed bun. The mushrooms were fresh and the cheese fully melted, though an extra slice of cheese would have made the sandwich even better. We ordered a basket of fries which weren't special in any way, but it didn't matter. Service was friendly and food came out quickly, though you won't get any service after lunch because this place doesn't serve dinner. Come early or go hungry! We'll come early.

Great service, and one of the top burgers in this area. I love this place. I wish they still had their place in Papillion.

Good food, oustanding service.. I have eaten at Louie's a few times and always enjoyed my meals there so I thought I would go today with a coworker and write a short review. Had lunch at Louie's which consisted of the Coney Island dog (huge super dog with canned chili, raw onions and cheese on a hoagie roll) along with "crispy" fries and ice tea. Service is excellent and friendly, atmosphere is like everyone else says with a couple of new signs hanging since my last visit. The dog was cooked well and piled on high with chili and onion. The cheese however was hard to spot or taste for that matter. Fries although not "crispy" as ordered were served hot and had good flavor for frozen shoestring potatoes. The dog was knife and fork material so as not so spill all over myself. My fellow diner had the blue cheese burger and said it was "okay". I will be back because overall the experience has always been good there. P.S. Ice tea out of a soda gun, homeade is always better.

Delicious. A cozy, somewhat old-fashioned atmosphere, effective service, and best of all a delicious burger--such was our first visit to Louie M's. Our waitress encouraged us to come back for breakfast sometime and we may have to take her up on that offer.
Michael
Go here for the atmosphere. Great feel to the place. O ya and the food is pretty good too!

Holy Heart Attack, Batman. The burgers here are to die for. Do yourself a favor and go for the cheddar bacon burger, but you might want to take your heart meds before you order. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area. I still think Dinkers is better but just ever so slightly. If you want some bacony, cheesy greatness, this is far and away the best place to get that. Keep it up Louie
Mrs. Flores De Guadalajara
Best bagel. Sounds weird, but the Salmon and caper bagel is to die for!

Give me a local restaurant any day of the week!. Louie M's Burger Lust fits that bill nicely. It is not a big place and it is not fancy but they know what they do well and do it very well. Good food + good service = great meal. Four of us for breakfast, four clean plates and no disappointment. Can't wait to try the burgers!

Great Neighborhood Place. I can't think of anything but good things to say about Louie M's. The burgers are the best in town (sorry Stella) but the other items like breakfasts that are served here really set it apart from the burger only places. The Corned Beef Hash is home made and as good as I've had anywhere. Burgers are large, juicy and perfectly cooked. A single order of fries is big enough to feed a small army. Don't miss this place!
Captain Napkin
A diamond in the rough. This great little restaurant in a quiet Hispanic neighborhood offers wonderful breakfasts and some of the best burgers you will ever taste. Worth a special trip for the food. The service is excellent as well.
Andy
The Best Burger in Omaha, For Many Reasons. Louis M's not only serves the most delicious burgers in town, but they have an excellent wait staff and truly original atmosphere. If you've never been, I recommend that you study the burger list carefully on your first visit, as there are many different varieties and many of them are exclusive. A+.

But the burger, itself, is the star. I've always said that a good bun is the key to a good burger and Louie M's burger buns are excellent. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was moist and juicy with each bite.

Judging by the clientele, perfect for hangovers and lunch breaks alike. Also good for out-of-towners who want to see where real Omahans go.
