First time here and wasn’t disappointed at all, crowded, but was seated quickly. Our waitress was very attentive and we didn’t have to ask for anything. Food was great, I will definitely be back.

A little crowded but I was seated quickly. Food and service were really good although due to the crowd there for Sunday breakfast/lunch there was a bit of a wait to order and then receive my order. This is a diner and home style atmosphere which I like. I'll be back.
Update: came for breakfast but ending up trying their Thursday lunch special, which is pot roast. In a word: don't. Meat was bland in taste and didn't bring to mind a quality roast. I should have stuck with the breakfast.

We enjoyed our experience at Old 56 Family Restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant was decorated nicely. My spouse and I both had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. I also had their mixed vegetables. The food had a good flavor but the mixed vegetables did seem very fresh. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. The chicken fried steak was not as crispy as I usually like it and I am not convinced that is was homemade. This is a dress casual restaurant. The food was not bad but did not seem like a scratch kitchen. This restaurant had recently reopened after being closed due to the pandemic.

It's your typical diner. Not in a bad way. It is a no frills, inexpensive place to eat. The portions won't make you fat by any means, but if you want a diner meal that won't break the bank, then by all means head on over there.

I've been here twice, breakfast and lunch. Both times exceeded my expectations. Staff was very friendly and food was great. Their servings are more than enough, so don't expect to order extras!

We’ve eaten here a few times mostly for breakfast. Services is usually friendly and pretty quick. I like that they have a health menu area and include fresh fruit as an option for a side. Gravy on the biscuits and gravy is great. Eggs cooked to order. Sausage has a nice little kick to it.

Not so homey feel for me. Yesterday I went to Old 56 Hwy diner for lunch. It is pretty close to my work, so it wasn’t my first time, but it will be my last time. The food is typical diner food and not too bad and the service is usually Ok, Except for the casher who is painfully non-chalant. My food came quickly and was just as I ordered it, but while I was eating I had a sudden loss of appetite. There were two older white gentlemen sitting at the table next to me, they were obviously regulars as they referred to the waitresses by name and the waitress called them by name and was interactive with them. As they prepared to leave the waitress took their payment to the register for them and left to do something. While they waited one guy said to the other guy who’s back was to the door “Oh no, I just saw a Black guy take your credit card and run out the door” the other laughed and said a Black guy took my credit card?! Then the waitress came and they told her a Black guy took his credit card and they continued joking about it until she went and got their bill and they left. I would have expected the waitress, who is the same one that served me, to realize this was offensive to me, her other customer, who is Black and not two feet away and ask them to stop but no she joked along with them. <br/>My first thought was to leave but I realized that such ignorance is unavoidable and there is really no getting away from it. The waitress continued to serve me as if nothing happened. Guess it didn’t register at all with her. I decided to leave a tip anyway until I got to the counter and stood there forever waiting on the cashier to come even after my waitress told her I was waiting. She came took my credit card, rang it up, laid the receipt and pen in front of me and walked away as I started to sign it. I had first filled in a tip but after she walked away I changed my mind and put a line through it signed and left. So much for the “homey” feel . . .

First time visit...I'll be back. Quaint, clean, friendly atmosphere with a small town charm. My two egg breakfast hit the spot with hash browns, sausage patties, and wheat toast! Everything was prepared well, arrived quickly, and was appropriately priced. I'd like to give lunch a try too.

Pre frozen chicken patties and gravy from a package, no thanks.

Great Old School Diner. I have been going to the Old 56 Diner, since it was Waid's, before it was sold. One of my curent favorites is the Egg's Benidict Specal on thursday's. Biscut's and Gravey, and the 3 Egg Omlet Selection's are a good if you find yourself there other that Thursday. The servers are frendly, and prompt, but Sunday's are very buisy.

Wonderful wait staff and a comfortable homey atmosphere. Good food served quickly. Best coffee hands down.
