Akagi Japanese Restaurant

My girlfriend & I got takeout last night from here & we were blown away. The vegan menu has such a great selection. My gf got sushi & udon, & I got the veggie teriyaki bowl. We also split a veggie tempura curry noodle bowl because we wanted to feast. All of it was sooo good! The best vegan sushi I have had in the Lansing area. The teriyaki bowl was awesome too. The curry sauce was a bit thick & heavy for my taste & I am not a fan of udon noodles, but my gf loves them so it's up to what you prefer (:

So happy this restaurant was open for dine in with reservations, they were practising social distancing and all staff wore masks. The food was good. We ordered combo 19 and 27. Miso soup and salad that came with the combos were very good. Miso soup had a good harmony with the umami taste along with not being overly salty. Quick service, privacy, friendly customer service. Sashimi was good, fresh and well cut. They also do contactless delivery through a third party app and pick up.

Hidden gem. It's worth the trip and the money for the quality. Best donburi and takoyaki in town. Sushi is fresh. Doesn't have the deepest flavor and the fattiest cuts but we're not really next to Tsukiji market, let alone an ocean, so we have to manage our expectations. Staff is nice, decor is top notch, everything is clean. Bring a date or bring a family, it can do it all.

I just placed an order for delivery earlier today and I an beyond impressed! I placed my order online where it was easy to access their hours, location, everything on the menu, as well as a create your own account and tips sections. Upon placing my order online I realized that I didn't know weather my order included vegetables or not, so after I place the initial order, I ended up calling them just to be safe. The person speaking to me on the other end was so patient, sweet, and so kind and addressed me by name rather than giving me a run-around. My order took a little longer than 15 minutes to be delivered, but that was understandable because all of the food they delivered was fresh! You can tell that the food was made precisely with care and affection to culinary art. Each ingredient was fresh! My salad was not withering like at most restaurants, and my food was hot, but not so hot that I couldn't begin eating. But what I love the most about this whole experience is that they wrote a cute little message warning me of the bones in my meal (I ordered fish) right on the box. It was so charming! The only downside I experienced with this restaurant is something so small I feel can be easily fixed. When I place my order online I could not see what exact ingredients were in the meal. I feel that perhaps it would help if their online menu specified the ingredients in each menu option. Regardless, this establishment deserves five stars and more, because their care was simply sweet, and to be honest not something that you run across everyday, and their food was extremely delicious!
