Upon walking in, the place was very clean. The tables and booths all looked nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Not to mention the fast service. The food was brought out insanely quickly, faster than a lot of other places I’ve been. The waitress was very nice and hastily got us everything we needed. As well, we were seated sooner than I expected for a Saturday evening. Our food was great as well. The portions of all the plates were perfect for a party of three, including a grown man who is practically a human garbage disposal.
TL;DR — A normal Chinese takeout restaurant. Nothing too special or life-changing, but still a pleasant visit and warm meal. Good portions, food, & service. Maybe just add some sweet & sour sauce with the wonton appetizer.
Crab Cheese Wontons: 8/10. The wontons from here are pretty good. Filled with crab and cheese, they’re golden and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. They would be better if they came with some red sauce, as I always enjoy dipping them in that (pictured is the sauce that came with the egg roll appetizer). However, they were a good starter either way. It’s hard to mess them up.
Potstickers: 9/10. I love the potstickers from here as well. They have some vegetables and meat stuffed in them, and their wrap is extremely soft to the touch. Paired with the sauce they come with, they’re a nice light start to the meal. The inside was a bit more crunchy and veggie filled than I initially expected, but it didn’t take much away from the experience.
Egg Roll: 8/10. I’m typically not a big egg roll fan, but the egg rolls here are surprisingly tasty. It was more of a spring roll than an egg roll weirdly enough, which might be why I enjoyed it more than usual. Anyway, the inside was really nice. There’s a creamy filling that goes great with the sweet and sour sauce that comes with it. It’s thick but doesn’t skimp on any stuffing. A pretty solid egg spring roll in total.
Hot & Sour Soup: 9/10. The soup was great. Its consistency was thick, and the flavoring was very rich and warm, with the perfect amount of spice. It was a great portion before eating everything else, and the spice level was just as I wanted. I’m typically not a fan of mushrooms, so like other dishes containing mushroom, I didn’t think I would totally finish it. However, I found myself cleaning the bowl and scraping the bottom, even with my appetizers right next to me. A great classic of American-Chinese cuisine that Chopstix does well.
General Tsao’s Chicken: 8/10. I’m glad I ordered this extra spicy, because the normal one would have not been hot enough. This was saucy and tangy, holding a piquancy that left my lips tingling. The chicken mixed with chili paste and soy sauce was even better than the Tso’s just by itself. Overall, it was a satisfying and decadent entree. It was filling, hot, and what I expected in a General Tso’s meal.
Moo Goo Gai Pan: 7/10. This was primary my parents’ order, so I didn’t eat much. However, I did have a few pieces of chicken. The meat is tender and juicy, not too saucy while still remaining soft and mellow in terms of flavor. Not my favorite dish since I prefer my Chinese takeout on the tangy and richer side, but this was a good option that was probably healthier than most other things that had been ordered.
Sesame Mochi Balls: 4/10. These sesame ball mochi aren’t my cup of tea. They’re much less sweet than I expected. That’s my fault though, the past ones I’ve had were much more saccharine. They certainly have a sesame taste to them, the name doesn’t lie. The dough has a slight tinge of something sugary to it, but the bean paste is much more natural and almost earthy in flavor. This isn’t my kind of dessert, but it’ll be much more appreciated by those who don’t like sugar-coated things to end off a meal.
Dessert Wontons: ?/10. I neither eat nor like chocolate. However, my parents found it alright. My parents finished one each, leaving one remaining. It was on the house, which was generous of Chopstix to do. It seemed to be passable for them.
Really good food for a Chinese restaurant. Everything served fresh and hot. Birthday dessert wontons were TO DIE FOR
Friendly service, though short staffed. Tasty wonton and sweet and sour sauce. Hot and Sour Soup had ok heat but was mild on flavor and was on the thick side. Nice variety on the Pao-Pao Platter. Very accommodating to dietary sensitivities. Meat and veggies in Cashew Nut Chicken were done perfectly! However, the brown sauce did not have as much flavor as I had hoped and was on the starchy side (slightly gritty).
The people here were really nice. We got seated quickly and got our soup served to us right after ordering, which was great. Our food did take a little while, but not a long time considering we were a group of 7 and we did have the soup to tide us over for a minute. The portions were large on the combination dinner platters. The individual food orders were large as well and the rice bowl that comes with it was enough for 2-3 people. The food was above par compared to other Chinese restaurants and we would definitely go here again.
Food is great, and plenty of it. Service was pretty good. My food and beverage experience tells me this was a fairly new server. I liked how the food was brought out by another server while still sizzling as our server was at another table. I will return there when my Chinese craving hits again.
Stopped here for lunch today. I got the General Tso’s lunch’s special. The lunch menu is a good portion size, with enough food for left overs. I was able to request how spicy they made the chicken which I appreciated. The cooked vegetables could have been cooked a little bit longer.
There was no wait time to be seated, and the staff was very friendly and punctual. Santiago was a very personable waiter and kind when asking about menu items. We only had to wait 10-15 minutes after ordering until our food arrived.
The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of parking in front and behind the building.
Would put more stars if I could. I love Zhang's. It is my favorite date place. I love how clean it was when I went in, and we were seated immediately! The staff was friendly but not overbearing. Lots of good food for a very fair price. Even though they were close to closing, they still sat a couple and served them.
First time trying this place. Great portion sizes. Delicious and hot food. Order my food to go and would love to come back for dine in. Loved the music while waiting for my food. Ordered orange chicken, veg low mei , shrimp egg foo yung, and curry sea food hot pot. The only thing that threw me off was the fries rice. Not used to it having ham in it but it was tasty.
Excuse me; Why have you not gotten seated in a booth, yet? 🍚 🥢
The general Tao chicken sauce is 🤌
The entire meal was less than $20 💵
Good Chinese food. If you order individual plates of one type of food, (family style) it's a lot. Two dishes (shared between 2 or 3 people) comes with rice, salad and appetizers and is plenty!
